i know some of you follow my food blog, so i just wanted to let you know that i officially moved over to blogger. i'm already MUCH happier with it, and i'm slowly adding the big list of blogs that i read to the sidebar. livejournal was too much of a pain in the butt with that. this is a lot more user friendly, and i finally had the freedom to make a purdy banner, too :)

Your new blog looks great! I've read your old one from time to time and it always makes me realize what a slacker I am when it comes to trying new recipes...
Happy Holidays!
Christine

hahah! that's awesome - he's gonna be SO surprised!
i feel like a slacker sometimes too, but there are always people who try more and less new recipes out there, ya know? and whenever we go out of town, it makes us realize how lucky we are to eat home cooking so often :)
happy holidays to you, too! wiiiiii!!

That's really cool! I like both of your sites, actually. I have kind of stopped on mine, since I could never get it setup the way I wanted. I am using the WordPress setup, but I was trying to make it more than JUST a food blog. I really enjoy the way your's is written, and the fact that you also share a tiny kitchen! Doesn't that make things nice and challenging?

Love the new banner! The "new" Blogger is definitely very user-friendly, allowing users to customize much more easier than the old version. Looks great!

It looks great! I'll be checking often to see more of those fabulous pictures! That's something I have to learn how to do well as I add to my new blog.

thanks! i'm actually VERY excited because i've been drooling over a macro lens for my camera since i got it, and i think this christmas i'll have enough gift money to finally buy it! so hopefully my shots will keep improving :D
best of luck with your new blog patsyk, i'll have to add your blog to my list when i finish it (i read soooo many that i couldn't put them all up in one sitting!)

I might have to get one of those lenses myself! I can't seem to get my camera to take a decent food picture to save my life.

what kind of camera do you use? it definitely helps a lot to NOT use the flash - that usually makes the food look washed out and not so tasty.

It's a DSLR that I don't know how to use. I tried putting it into macro mode, and it will never take the picture. I'm sure the flash is part of it, we have poor lighting in the RV (next rig gets spotlights inside! haha). I've been thinking a macro lens might fix things for me, but I think I'll get that mini-photo studio at Walmart first. I'm thinking that the lights that come with it, might be all that it takes.

lighting is really key. the macro lens will just get a close-up of what you're taking, so if the lighting is still bad, it'll just be a close-up of a poorly lit item. if you're having problems with it being blurry, you can use a tripod to keep the camera steady so that it won't shake while the shutter is open. i'm reeeeally bad at staying still when i take photos, so i either have to have more light or use a tripod to keep it crisp.
