The exterior of our house is getting close to done, but we're having a dilemma about these block trim things......here is a whole house view and then a close up of what I'm talking about:

DH thinks they look a little ghetto; my sister thinks they look like velcro sticky tabs or something. (Ignore the fact that the columns aren't painted yet, there aren't shutters yet, and there's still plastic on the keystones above the windows.) What do you think?....keep it the way it is, paint it to match the rest of the trim color, or take them off?

I would paint them the same as the trim. Beautiful house!!

I would have them painted to match the trim as well!

I agree with everyone so fat, keep them the same color as the trim, that way they will be an accent and not a "contrast".

The house looks great, I love..love brick houses! You really don't see them much here in Washington but I love to go to Toronto where my DH is from, they are everywhere.

Congrads!!!

Thanks :) Brick is VERY common where we live (required in our neighborhood) but you don't see much colonial style at all, so I'm excited to have something a little different. It's a really bad picture taken from the side like that, but I'll post lots of pics when it's done!

NO ! That's dentil molding, characteristic of traditional homes ( at least better ones). Definately not ghetto !!!! And paint same as rest of trim.

What is a dentil molding?
A dentil is one of a series of a series of closely spaced, rectangular blocks that form a molding. The dentil molding usually projects below the cornice, along the roofline of a building. However, the dentil molding can form a decorative band anywhere on the structure.
