Santa brought my girls Rubik's cubes this year. I *know* I solved the dang thing back in the 80s. I remember understanding the cube, but when look at it now, it means nothing to me.

I think my children have damaged my brain!

Can you imagine how cool your kids would think you are if you figured the sucker out?

Did Santa get your girls the one that's completely different (flashing lights and different games) or the old school one? Nicholas got the new version, and in the beginning, we were all trying to figure out how to turn the cube - and, of course, come to find out, this one doesn't turn like the old one. Still addicting nonetheless.

I remember having a book that had the steps to solve the cube. I bet they still have that book available somewhere...

I saw on the news the other night that the Japanese invented a robot that can solve the Rubik's cube in 3 minutes. I think the last time I picked up one of those I put it back down in under 3 minutes out of frustration!

There is a formula/system/method to solving the cube. They also now offer 4x4 and 5x5 cubes in addition to the traditional 3x3.

I went to school with a girl who had that book, shared the "formula" with me, and from then on I've always known how to solve it. I can tell you it took a lot of practice before I had it memorized, but it was about 25 years ago and I still remember how to do it.

This is so funny. A friend of mine solved the cube in front of us gals at a recent bunco party. I was so impressed, I almost ran out and bought one so I could figure it out too. Having read your post, I think I'm glad I didn't. :p

You can always rent and watch The Pursuit of Happyness to find a clue as to how to do it!
