I will be riding with the paramedics of my father's firehouse on Sunday. Now, this is a stupid question, but I have no idea how to dress for this. I know I'll be wearing my waterproof/resistant shoes, really old jeans, and some long underwear beneath those. As for the top, I'm stumped. I want to be warm, but not bulky.

Any great ideas??

Thanks!

I would suggest layers --- camisole, turtleneck shirt, sweatshirt, coat (or whatever you would wear while being outside for awhile).

That way if you are too warm you can remove the coat. Of course, weather will dictate if you need rain/snow type clothing.

Edited: I just looked at where you live and changed from tee shirt to turtleneck --- that thermo-fabric stuff is your best friend --- no bulk, all the warm.

If the paramedics are cute, you might want to reconsider! :p That was my first thought when i read the thread title - well you gotta look hot if you're going to do that! :) As you can see, i have no advice whatsover.

Whatever it is make sure it's washable in case you get stuff (bodily fluids) on it.

First we had the hilarious "how to hit on the butcher" thread, and now this . . . :D :D ! (Actually, ErinM, please forgive my inability to remember if you're married or not--if so, please disregard. ;) )

I agree with layers, lots of them, b/c you may be outside for quite awhile. What an exciting day; you'll have to post an update when you're done! :)

REI makes a really cute pullover with zip collar-type very light polartec that I have and love.
It would be great over a thinner coolmax shirt/t-shirt that is long sleeved and if you have a mid-weight jacket, you can put that over it so you can toss it on and off as you need.
I have a thicker polartec jacket that has pit-zips (LOVE IT) so if I am feeling warmer but need some cool air, I can just unzip the pits :)

I hope it is a great learning and not too icky an experience for you :)

Yeah, that's my issue. I don't spend enough time outside! The coat part is the hardest for me as the coats I own won't work. I think a trip to goodwill will be in order...sometime between now and then.

And I was thinking of going to Target and getting some of that silk/thermal stuff.

So far, I've packed a turtleneck, a short sleeved CFD shirt, the jeans, some leggings I've had for years, and a fleece vest in black. That's all I've got. I'm going to a friend's house, she may have a sweater she can contribute to the pile, which will still be oversized on me

As for looking hot...great idea, but I don't think I can pull that off! :)
