Oh queen of all things graphic, how do we find and download a graohic that describes us???

I'm not the graphics queen - but go to "user cp", edit options, and scroll to the bottom to find avatar info.

Okay.....the 50 x 50 pizels that this board requires for size are not easy to find. I did a lot of hunting and I don't have software to resize graphics which would be easier when you find something you like. Anyway, the site above is where I found the one I am using.

Basically, what I did was save it to my hard drive and then went to a website that I have (free and use just to download graphics, www.homestead.com) and added to my file manager. Retreived the url by copying it and then came to Cooking Light, "user cp", click "edit options"; go to bottom of page where it says "Change Avator"; click it and at the bottom of that page where it says "You can enter an URL of your avator"....then paste your url there. Submit and BINGO.

Now, I also believe that you can upload a graphic that is saved to your hard drive and copy and pasting it where it says "You can upload an avator from your computer".....but I haven't tried that.

I will try it and see what happens....be back

P.S. If you guys are choosing avatar that is offered here...they are not working yet and that may why ou are getting a white box with "X".

I found loads of small graphics (smilies) on: http://www.smilecwm.com/ The URLS are posted right next to the graphic.

If you want to make certain that your graphic falls within the 50 x 50 pixel requirement, right click on your mouse (cursor poised over graphic) and go into "Properties"- it will display the graphic pixels.

Since the "upload graphic from computer" function is not yet enabled, I cut and pasted the url as Mamasue explained.

I am far from computer-savvy, so the gods must have been smiling on me to get this to work on the first try!

This is a test of my avator and messages! THIS NEW STUFF IS SO FUN! However, I missed the boards being down for so long. The link on my "favorites" no longer works - anyone else had this problem?

Mine won't work either!!! I got an error message three times when I tried to enter the custom avatar, saying that an image wasn't found. Finally got it to accept it, and now I've got an X!

Any of you computer gurus know why I'm described as a RED X!!? :rolleyes: Thanks!

We are currently working on this but it seems to be something that will take some time to resolve. So, with that said, don't spend time trying to work this out on your end. I promise, I'll tell you when we have it worked out! :confused:

In the meantime, we'll be adding more avatars for you to choose from. If there is one you would like to see and you don't mind if someone else chooses it as well, email the graphic to me at maelynn_cheung@timeinc.com.

Gosh - I need to mention this too...

If you want a custom graphic - please make sure that the site you are getting it from doesn't have usage restrictions or that it's not copyrighted by someone.
