View Full Version : Thai basil
Does anyone know if this will be interchangeable with sweet basil in recipes, for ex. pesto? Thanks for any ideas. Sally

but I can't find Thai basil and was wondering what the difference in taste is. I have a Cinnamon Basil plant that I am growing (along with Sweet Basil) and can't think of what to do with it right now. It is starting to flower, so I am going to dry some for future use. Thanks :)

Thai basil has a very different taste then sweet basil. You can subsitute licorice or cinnamon basil, if you wish. It is also good with lentil dishes. I tried to grow Thai basil this year but it did not make it. I had hoped for a great crop so that I'd have plenty for Vietnamese noodle soup. YUM!

Mamasue, did you grow from seed to buy a plant. I have only heard of lemon and sweet basil.

Thanks Kelli for the info.
Theresa....I bought the plants. I tried one year to start plants by seed and without success decided its easier to buy them. :D
