Happy New Year's Eve!! Woo hoo - to celebrate the New Year I ordered 3 new DVD's from Collage - Thanks to Valerie and Joanne;)
I ordered Kelly Coffey-Meyers Stepboxing (the other new one scared me!!:D ), Cathe's Coremax and a new FIRM toning/yoga with Emily.
DH is really psyched to tone up so he's "pool ready!" So I gotta keep up with him. After tonight we're cutting back on the wine and we're off!
We had a nice weekend with his family in Jersey - ate way too much (homemade pierogies - yum!!) Tonight is our big party (16 adults) should be a good time. Tomorrow is pork and saurkraut and some pierogies. THEN Wednesday it's back to school and reality eating!!
Joanne - so glad to hear your back is feeling better! And I'm ready to get back to routine and structure as well. When do the kids go back?
Valerie - hope you enjoy your quiet eve! Is your husband feeling better?
Have a great night everyone (Michelle - hope all is well!) and we'll see you in 2008!!!:)

Hi all. Just finished Jari's Ripped 1000 workout and next time I need to remind myself to do the cardio modifications for my knee. All in all not to bad - I'm a sweaty shakey mess. In fact typing is hard as I can't keep my hands steady. Need to get some food in me perhaps.
Other than that I have worked out everyday but one since the friday before Christmas and to make up for that I did a Ripped followed by a cardiocoach on the same day. I'm alternating Ripped and cardiocoach on the treadmill. Hoping to get ready for Cathe's STS - I'm excited to see it.
Have to go back to work on Wednesday but it's been a much needed 11 days at home away from folks just centering on out little family.
Take care and hope all is well with everyone

Michelle - time with family is precious. I'm glad you were able to take it and refocus and hopefully re-energize yourself :) I've been trying to figure out what STS is... drawing a blank. Are they on order? I just got a notice that my DVD's have been shipped out already!!:D
No workout today - putting away all Christmas decorations. We had a good party - in bed by 2am. Imbibing was kept to a minimum although I do have a headache this morning. I'm thinking sinus related more than alcohol.
I hope everyone has a great New Years Day - back to reality tomorrow for most of us!:)

Happy New Year all!!
Charisse, sounds like lots of fun eating and parties!! Have fun with your new workouts. :) Did you order the Kelly's 1st or 2nd stepboxing workout. Her new cardio/sculpt workout is the one I think hurt my back. I love the cardio it in though and both the stepboxing ones are fun. My kids go back Monday. It's going to be tough - they've all been sleeping in till at least 9:00. Nice for us, but we have to get back on a normal schedule!
Michelle, sounds like a good plan to rotate Jari and the treadmill. Cathe's STS sounds exciting, I hope she posts more details soon. Charisse, it's some type of new weight training program she's filming soon.
I'm trying to get back on track here! So far, so good, today at least! ;) My only sweets have been raisins. I decided to do Cathe's January rotation. Today was Imax2. I was worried I wouldn't be able to get through it, but I did fine. She also has you doing 40 pushups, 40 triceps dips, 30 lunges, and 200 crunches every day. We'll see how far I last with it!
Gotta run...

Another CardioCoach down today although I'm thinking I should have iced my knees but I can do that now. Better late than never. Well tomorrow it's back to work and only supposed to be a high of maybe 8 if we are lucky. Oh well that's why I love my vid's and treadmill.
Charisse - check on Cathe's website in the blog section. she has an explanation of STS there. Sounds interesting but tough.
Joanne - good luck with the rotation I'm sure you will be a success. As for me I HATE tricep dips:mad: I don't know why but I despise them. any other tricep exercise is fine, just the dips (probably my large behind is the problem ... trouble clearing the step:rolleyes:  )
Well good luck to all of us as tomorrow it's back to reality.

Michelle, take care of those knees!! Are you walking or running with Cardio Coach? I think we are about as cold here as you are there today! It was about 3 degrees this morning - a brutal one-mile walk from the train to work.
Today was Boot Camp on Cathe's rotation. I did that and then her extra "stuff" - I'm not too fond of tricep dips either! She does some in Boot Camp, so I thought about skipping them, but I did them anyway. Still need to do the pushups, though. Tomorrow is Cardio Kicks. I've done that before but can't remember if I liked it or not!
Stay warm everyone!

Joanne - good luck with your rotation! Not sure if I could do 40 tricep dips!! shaky shaky!!! I ordered Kelly's first DVD - as I said the second one scared me - I watched the preview on collage and thought the first one was more my speed!;)
Michelle - My knees ache when I read your post. Take care of those guys!! I'll have to check out Cathe's blog. Thanks! How was work today? 8 degrees! We have a high of 25 today with winds - I pulled out my nanook coat (complete with fake fur trim!!):D
I did Burn and Shape today after school. It wasn't so bad getting downstairs after our first day back :) Today was a strong day! Tomorrow is going to be strictly cardio.
Stay warm everyone!!!:)

Well it was -22 on the way into work today so I really loved my new coat. It's full length down from Cabela's and it's toasty warm. Survived work ok, but sitting has a negative affect on my mobility as my knees were stiff from sitting in a chair proper. Tonight I pulled out the original Ripped and felt good when I was done. Not sweaty but I hadn't drank enough water throughout the day. Then I thought perhaps I didn't go high enough on the weight but now I'm feeling a little sore so perhaps it was OK. Tomorrow is CardioCoach. Have to see how that goes.
Well need to cut this short as it is late and I need to get some sleep. Take care and see you tomorrow.

Flu surviver checking in. DH brought it home and was very sick for about 4 days and then I came down with it too. I worked out all days before getting sick but just started back with a light workout yesterday. I think I skipped 4 days.... did not feel well at all. DH was sicker and couldn't do anything for a week. the kicker is that we had 5 days off in a row and were going to ski or snowshoe or something, but we barely stuck our heads outside until yesterday.
Sounds like everyone is going gangbusters for the new year!
Charisse, don't let the warm up for Coremax #1 scare you. Cathe does "levitation holds".... I have no idea how she does them .... but they are probably not possible for everyone. DH is really strong & can't come close to doing them, and I can't either. I can't make my hands get in that position at all. when I first ran thru the DVD I was worried what the rest would be if that was a warm up, but the rest is quite do-able in time.
Joanne, glad to hear your back is better. I don't like dips either but triceps get stronger quickly so that's some consolation although I am screaming after 30. Because of hand/wrist issues, I make a fist and do dips on my knuckles. DH thinks I'm crazy but they work much better for me that way, with a straight locked wrist.
Michelle, -22 is just awful no matter what coat you own. I am reminded why I don't live in the midwest anymore. It's 40 and raining here.

Almost forgot to post this. It's an incredible clip of a woman who gracefully and athletically twines herself into unbelievable positions. I've never seen anything like this, she's amazing.

Valerie, wow, that clip is amazing. It's like she's a giant gumby doll or something! Hurts to watch it! Sorry to hear you got hit with the flu. Glad you're feeling better. That stinks that it came during your planned vacation time. I'll have to try your position for triceps dips. They do hurt my hands. Resting your hands on dumbbells helps too.
I can't believe those levitation holds are in the warmup for CoreMax. I did that segment once and was a bit frightened! The rest is much more doable, though.
Michelle, OK, -22 is just insane! How long do you actually have to be outside in that?
Charisse, what did you do for your cardio today?
I stuck to Cathe's rotation and did Cardio Kicks this morning. Not my favorite. It's OK, but not real fun. I did the extra stuff too. Tomorrow is Step, Jump, Pump. That's a fun workout.

Wasn't that incredible? I actually got confused several times at what the heck I was watching, like where's her head? how did her legs get there? How is that even remotely remotely possible??

O.M.G. My body hurts. Jack was watching over my shoulder and kept going "Mom!" "Mom!" ugh.
OK so last night AFTER my workout I was bending over the bed to pick up laundry and pulled a calf muscle. I couldn't walk last night. I iced it and woke up with it in a knot. The same calf muscle that cramped up on me last week. (I must be getting old) I limped around at school but knew I needed to do something this afternoon.
So I did a mishmosh of stuff. I did the upper body workout from Super Body Sculpt and then did the ab workout from Cathe's Cardio and Weights. Then a major stretch. The calf is still really tight but at least I feel like I did something.
Valerie - ugh. The flu is making it's way around here. The teacher I work with went home with a fever - Sam reported a student throwing up in the closet - everyone is snuffling - DH is miserable. Let's hope this is it for you.:) And thanks for the heads up about the first exercise. I'll try to remember it gets better!!
Michelle - -22?????!!! That's inconceiveable (think Princess Bride!;) ) Do things actually work when it's that cold?!!! Are your knees feeling better?
Joanne - Step,Pump and Jump is fun. Did you get all of your dips, pushups and situps in too?
Tomorrow's Friday!!:) Big game for the Steeler's on Sat eve - DH will be glued to the set! Have a great eve everyone!

Started seeing a lot of flu pop up about a week ago. DH's entire office had it right after christmas. Fever, headache, body aches, cough, sore throat and throat and chest congestion. DH & I had a flu shots but didn't help. Not pleasant... and probably got a big boost with all the holiday get togethers and travel. but the real question is, Michelle will -22 kill the flu virus and how long do you need to stay out in it for it to happen?

Charisse, how's your calf today? Hope it gets back to normal soon. I know how frustrating it can be!! It's really not funny, but I had to giggle a bit about Sam telling you someone threw up in the closet! Ugh!! Poor kid. Jameson told me a few weeks ago that someone threw up in the hallway at school. Of course, the first thing I asked was, was he close to you?? Not the most sympathetic response, but stomach flu is the worst, especially in a family of 6!
Michelle, any warmer there yet? It's going to be a balmy 32 degrees here, today. Not to make you jealous or anything. ;) It's actually supposed to be in the 50's this weekend.
I did Step, Jump and Pump this morning along with my pushups and half the tricep dips. I did all the ab work at the end, so I might do those later.
Happy weekend all! Soccer starts tomorrow and school Monday, so we'll be back to our normal hectic schedule. Which I'm actually ready for - the kids are getting stir crazy.

Hope your calf is better Charisse... amazing how we can go thru entire difficult workouts and get hurt doing something so simple!
Strong work, Joanne. Getting it done early is a good way to start the day, a lesson I keep telling myself but not learning.
I did a moderate workout yesterday but felt ill most of the night with my throat flaring up again. Not sure what I'll do today but apparently I'm not over this yet so it's not going to be anything too difficult. weather is windy and rainy again, or should I say "still". We are getting an incredible amount of snow in the mountains this year. December was one of the largest accumulations on record. so far haven't had much chance to enjoy it. Avalanche conditions have been very high so we will be careful when we are well enough to venture back out there.

Valerie - I saw the weather forecast for the west coast for this weekend. Holy Toledo! Looks like California is going to get socked - but it also looks like it is wrapping around up to Oregon/Washington too!! Be careful getting back into exercising. It's smart to take things easy!!
Joanne - Soccer starts already? Indoor? Jack is trying to decide whether to continue with baseball (he'd move up to the majors) or if he wants to try track instead. Then we got a notice that U12 will be doing spring soccer - so he has a decision to make!!
Calf is better but I didn't want to push it. I normally don't workout on Fridays but thought if I worked out today I could take tomorrow off. I have alot of running around to do!! So I did the old Calorie Killer - I took it down to low impact and lowered the step to 6 inches instead of 8. I still got a very good sweat out of it but didn't feel like I strained my calf.
I lost 2 lbs since last week - the result of no wine and going to bed hungry!
Have a great weekend!!!

thought I'd check in to say no workout yesterday, did not feel good. last night my throat flared up again, coughed and was miserable for hours. finally took some serious narcotic cough syrup and got some sleep. don't feel too hot today either. It's like the whole virus started right over at the beginning again. no workout til I am better. this will be a quiet weekend. Hope everyone is doing OK and hope this virus doesn't spread!.

Monday morning and after a very sick weekend I'm starting to feel like part of the human race again. Bad BAD upper respiratory symptoms. fever, cough, chest congestion, sore throat, headache. I think I feel well enough to do a little something today but it won't be anything tough. just something to get the parts moving again. dramatically better than yesterday but I do NOT need to revisit this virus!
