Finally .... I'm at 21 reps, which is my goal, for the 5 Tibetan Rites. I get a little dizzy but not anymore than when I started with 3 reps. I have way more energy because last night I made it long enough to hear the fireworks at midnight and still managed to wake up at my usual time this morning. :D
The rest is the usual, field hockey, walking, and racquetball. :D
Happy New Year's Everyone !!!

I slept in since we stayed up late, but I did make it to the gym to do 40 minutes on the elliptical. There was hardly anyone there! I'm guessing that will change over the next week or so:rolleyes:

I did a spinning class this morning that lasted 1.5 hours and survived! :D I wasn't sure how two spinning classes two days in a row would work, but it wasn't horrible. I'll find something else to do tomorrow though!
Good going on the elliptical, Sheila...and DmOrtega, could you post the link to the Tibetan Rites? I want to check it out again before I start back in school next week. Thanks!
Next?

It's important to move your chin up and down because it stimulates the thyroid gland. Actually all of your glands will be stimulated and you will feel hot. This is normal. Start slow with 3 reps daily for a week, add 1 or 2 more each week so you can build endurance. 21 reps max daily, is your goal. And you can do these at your own speed. One more thing is since thse moves stimulate the glands, you will see an increase in energy, so do them early in the day. If you do them at night you will have problems sleeping. The whole routine takes 5 - 10 minutes max.

I skied 3 hours today. Felt great in my new custom boots with quick power transfer to new edges. Now, if only my ankle that I messed up in the old boots would quit hurting.

I started off the new year right with a day of skate skiing! Now I am feeling wiped out and am laying on the couch. :)

Way to kick off the New Year everyone! :)
I did yoga Sunday and Monday, and Monday I also did 55 min on the TM. Today nothing official because I worked a 12 hour shift that was incredibly busy for being a holiday. Back to the TM tomorrow.
Thanks for posting the links on the Tibetan Rites DmOrtega. Great job staying consistent and getting up to 21 repeats. Do you mean that doing all 5 rites 21 times each takes only 5-10 minutes total? That seems really fast, but if that's the case, I can see where it wouldn't be too time consuming to make it part of the daily routine.

That's it for 21 reps X 5 rites. 5-10 minutes total depending on how slowly I want to do them. Usually it's about 5 minutes for me. It's not a complicated routine. Even I can do this before heading off to work. :D

I just came from the gym where I did 40 minutes on the elliptical. I completely forgot that this is the time for the "New Years Resolution" crowd. I think I stepped onto the very last cardio machine in the building...and the gym has QUITE an assortment in a large quantity! I also did about 10 minutes of leg exercises.

The smaller gym location we went to today was busy, but not too crowded. That might be my place of choice for the next few weeks! I did 20 minutes on the treadmill, then upper-body weights and ab work.
Back to the routine tomorrow - kids are back to school, and I am working for the first time in over two weeks.

50 min on the TM for me today. My kids are back to school tomorrow as well. I'll have to figure out my game plan for when to do my exercising again. (It's been so nice to do it whenever I got up over the holidays without worrying about getting anyone out the door on time!)

And back with another 50 min TM. I thought about adding in some weights, but don't really have time today. Maybe once before the week is over.....

I took a really fun yoga class tonight. Last night, I tried the 5 Tibetan Rites. I managed 7 reps of each exercise. I think if the series ended with the spinning pose (the first one), I probably could have done more. I'll have to work on the speed so I don't feel like the room continues to spin for so long afterward. :o

I had problems with the dizziness when I first started too. There is a trick. If you focus on one spot in the room for half the turn it should be easier. This is what they do for ballet. Also, with time it does get easier. My recovery time after spinning is really quick now. I'm not dizzy at all about a quarter of the way through the second rite.
Just keep in mind that doing these at night will make it harder to get to sleep because it increases energy. I really, really noticed the difference when I started doing 10 reps. I do this routine, right after my morning shower and before I eat.
Stay with the 7 reps, daily, for a full week. Don't do more. Then each week, add 1 or 2 reps. If you can't do more, then don't. You will know when you can add more.

Thanks for that excellent information. I did yoga last night so decided not to do the rites. I just came from the gym where I did 40+ minutes on the treadmill. I'm going to plan to do them in the morning.

My doctor says my bp is good. Yeah!!!! I struggle with high bp and although I was not surprised, I was still very happy to hear this news. I really feel that doing the 5 Tibeten Rites have had an impact on my bp. I just feel the calmness and the increase of enegy. My doctor said that she also didn't doubt that the yoga was helping me. There have been many many studies on those that do yoga and the health benefits. :)

Did some yoga this AM, and tried the Tibetan rites. I just did 3 of each.
DmOrtega, when you do the spin, are you supposed to do it one direction or the other? Or do you alternate? Or does it matter? I just went to the right, but it seemed odd not to switch and go the other way.
Later I went outside and did a slow run for 60 min. The temp got up to 58 degrees, and I wanted to try out my new HR monitor that DH gave me for Christmas. It worked great and it felt good to be outside.
Anyone else getting in a workout today?

I started the day with an early morning yoga class. I did 7 reps of the 5 Tibetan Rites after I returned home. Picking out a focal point helped! I then spent about 2.5 hours getting up leaves!!!!! I've now had my shower and I quit! :D
Anyone else?
BTW, Kathy, I don't know if it's right, but I spin in the same directions. In the videos linked above, I'm pretty sure the demonstrator goes in the same direction. Maybe it makes sense to spin in a different direction each day?!?

I need to give thoseTibetan Rites a try. Sounds like something I would be able to do on the mornings I go to work.
Today I rode the bike to warm up, then stair climber and upper-body weights. Finished with a few abs with the medicine ball.

It is recommended to do them every day, no less than 6 days per week. It really only takes 5 minutes. If I get tired, I rest for a moment and then continue until I finish the 21 reps.
