I recently got my first issue of Gastronomica: the Journal of Food and Culture . It's not your typical food mag (no recipes) and is pricey (4 annual issues for $40 - less if you subscribe on line), but it is wonderful if you're interested in cultural aspects of food and food history. Most of the articles are written by university professors who specialize in various areas of cultural studies and explore a wide range of food topics. You might want to check out the website: http://www.gastronomica.org It's not for everyone, but other food geeks like me might find it interesting (especially if you'd enjoy an article about why the etymology of the word "coriander" caused the spice to lose favor in Western Europe after the Middle Ages).

Thanks for the recommendation! I checked out the website and that looks like something I will enjoy reading. Since I am a student, the rate wasn't too high. I went ahead and signed up. Talk about an impulse buy! :D

Speaking of new food magazines - has anyone tried Taste yet? It's the Williams Sonoma magazine.

Me too!
I'm excited that there's another law student on the board -- makes me feel less guilty about all the time I'm not spending studying and working.

Hi, Nancy! Yes, there have been several law students on the boards. I only remember who one other one is and she doesn't post anymore. There are also quite a few lawyers. Anyway, this board tends to call my name particularly when I'm studying for exams or writing a paper! :D
What law school do you go to? What year? I'll be a 3L in the fall.
