my DVR cut it off too - they must've been running late. so i went on the website to see who left. i'm sad - i REALLY liked kevin. the dress he made last night really did stink though. i caught the very end of the episode tonight so i got to see how it went down.
christian's client was SO obnoxious! but you have to be very careful in dealing with clients...regardless of how young/old/smart/dumb/mean/etc. they are. they are the person you're trying to make happy. it can be REALLY hard to bite your tongue sometimes.
wow...i think my day at work is about to come out here...so i better stop while i'm ahead!
/designer rant  :D

I really, really liked Kevin, but his dress wasn't great. I didn't get why he was fighting hemming the dress so much. But, all that being said, I thought Ricky's dress was worse. It did not look like it was made well and the color totally washed out his client. I can see Rami, Jillian and Christian going to Bryant park. Christian is obviously talented, but sometimes his vision gets a little skewed. Still, I think he will be there at the end. I really like Kit, but I just don't know if she will make to the end.

The more I see Chris, the more I like his stuff. :) Plus, he's already experienced getting kicked off ... he'll fight it harder, I think.
Group project coming up next week, it looks like ... and they're using the sheets from their beds again?

I actually felt pretty sorry for Christian. He's so young. How in the world is he supposed to know how to deal with an obnoxious, know-it-all 17 year old.
I don't think he should have sold her out, though. If he had been smart, he would have pre-scripted some diplomatic "My client came to me with a very strong vision of what she wanted, and I did my best to marry my vision with hers. The result may not have been as successful as either of us would have hoped" or some such crap. Although, it's perfectly possible that he did just that and they only showed us the part where he threw the girl under the bus . . .
Honestly, though, I thought she was ridiculously difficult. She started out by drawing ON HIS SKETCH, for heaven's sake. I think he showed remarkable restraint throughout the entire ordeal in the workroom. And it was clear that, unlike when Jeffrey made his "difficult client" (Angela's mother) cry last season and everyone thought he was an ogre, the other designers really sympathized for the predicament Christian was in.
Oh, one more thing. I hated, hated, hated Victoria's dress. That crystal beading was gawd-awful.

Not only the crystals, but the color as well! I can't believe that Sweet P's dress didn't run away with it ...

well, he wasn't 17 TOO long ago, and he comes off as a know-it-all too. heheh!!
i definitely thought sweet pea's dress was the most successful. it looked angelina jolie red carpet worthy to me. very pretty. and than GOD she didn't go as low in the back as her client asked. nobody wants to see plumber's crack at the prom!
i agree that victoria's dress was gawdy. the crystals would have been better in all one color - a lighter shade of blue or white or something. not a box of jolly ranchers!
i think i'm rooting for rami to win it all now. i LOVE chris' personality though, and i loved seeing all the pictures of HIM in drag in his portfolio. hysterical!
can't wait for next week. and i set the DVR for an extra minute from now on...we can't have cut off endings again!

I have to disagree with some of you, I thought Victoria's dress was gorgeous. I really liked the electric blue color and even the "jolly rachers". I'm a sucker for neon colors, though I never do wear them :)
So glad to see this thread, because my DVR cut off the end of PR too! I figured Kevin would be the one to go...I liked him. :( I thought Ricki should have been the one to go, especially after one of the judges made the comment that his designs are always one step off. I didn't like Rami's dress, he didn't follow the assignment- his design really wasn't for his client. He said that he made a dress in his style, which is typically for an older woman. The dress he made for that poor girl was so unflattering, in my opinion. But, generally I like his things, so I'm glad they gave him another chance.
We just got Bravo when we signed up for fios cable, so I've only been able to watch Project Runway when it comes out on DVD. So glad to be able to watch the show as it airs. Love it!

Something else I meant to mention was I thought it was funny how the judges kept saying the dresses weren't young enough. Girls going to prom don't want to look young! They want to look grown up and sophisticated.

My husband said the same thing! And he is not exactly fashion savvy. And it's true, even more now then when I was young (and I'm not yet 30). Back then 17 magazine (and maybe YM) was your only source for prom dress ideas. Now kids today see magazines and websites with actresses and singers (hopefully) looking glamorous but mature. That's what they want!
I had to tape the repeat at 11 with an 5 minute extension because we were watching it "live" but delayed to fast forward commercials. Very annoying though!

By young, I don't think they meant naive -- they just meant that the dresses should not look mother of the bride-ish -- i.e. matronly which some of them did -- like the losing dress and that green number -- which was gorgeous but which by the designer's own admission was something he would make for a 30 year old to wear to a cocktail party.
BCBG (I think) always translates the Oscar dresses into prom dresses and although some of them are sexy/red carpet, none of them are "old" in the sense that the judges were using the word.
The losing dress was just old and made the young girl look dumpy -- it's something that could could be picked up for $29.99 -- there was nothing fresh about it -- and the execution is bad. I am not a seamstress to say the least but hemming a chiffon material is a ***** -- I think you need to give it a small rolled hem like a scarf -- so if his skills weren't great he could have wound up with a puckered woebegone look.
Christian is opinionated and probably too young to win it ultimately but his dress is crafted well and at least based on some of the judge's comments seems to have been somewhat fresh and cute.
I liked the blue dress and thought the use of the crystals was great -- not at all gaudy - especially since the high neckline would preclude any jewelry.
Someone please explain to me how Ricky manages to squeak by week after week. Kevin's dress was bad, but even Michael Kors said something about Ricky being boring/terrible every single week, so why didn't they just get rid of him??

Because the producers also have a say in who stays or goes and he's good for the drama. Apparently, they need someone around to cry every week.
