Ok, I'm "sort of" back in the game so will start this week. This was a bad, nasty virus and I am still not done. DH is the same. I took a course of antibiotics on the outside chance it was more than a virus but probably not.
We went on a ski sunday, not a difficult one, but it was the first time the sun had been out in weeks so we went anyway. Snow was not too good ( breakable rain crust) although there is PLENTY of it.
two weeks of inactivity took their toll even though I was eating very lightly. must be lots of calories in cough syrup. about 5 lbs crept back on. hopefully it hasn't hardened up into solid fat yet, I assume it's in a semi liquid state and is more easily evicted if caught early in the transition .... my theory, no scientific validity claimed....

So yesterday 15 bike, 15 elliptical. took a couple hour rest and then Muscle Max. I did treadmill time last friday and saturday but much lower intensity. too much heavy breathing gets the coughing started and seems counterproductive. I did not push the weight amounts at all on MM and am all over low level sore today. probably the right amount of exercise.

Hope you all are kicking butt and perhaps shoveling snow. We may have another partly sunny day here again today which is great. It's been a long gray rainy couple months.

Hey Valerie! Glad you're back in the game:) Take it easy!!!

Good weekend - Sat I did Burn and Shape with Emily... took a break on Sunday.... Yesterday I did Total Body Time Crunch - good sweat!

Today I'm not sure - will get inspired when I go downstairs.:)

I put on a pair of pants I haven't worn in 3 years!! Woo hoo - and they were comfortable :)

Cold temps here but NO SNOW!! ugh. We are too "south" - hard to believe that in Pennsylvania!!!

Have a great Tuesday!!!

Uff da!!! I did the Upper Body workout from Super Body Sculpt and then....... I did the first workout from Coremax!!! Yea!!!:) I did everything completely until I got to the end - the last set of planks. I just couldn't hold it!! I tried the oblique twists and then fell on the floor doing the rolling ones:rolleyes:

But I like it. It's very doable and I can really really feel my core. (we'll see how sore I am tomorrow!!)

Valerie - do you have an 8 lb medicine ball? I have a stability ball but that's it. Just wondering if you don't can you substitute?

I couldn't do the planks all the way at first ( going back and forth on my toes about killed me) but I can now. Did you do the levitation holds??? :D

I bought a 8 lb medicine ball, not just for this but cathe uses one in other parts of coremax and also in the ab sections of other workouts, I forget which ones. I found one at target for under $10 so went ahead and invested. For the side to side twists or even for some of the crunchs you could use a dumbbell. I did at first. When I saw how often I needed it I bought one.

I really did not get that sore from coremax but I used to do loads of stability ball crunches and was bored and wanted to try more variety.

Were the levitation holds in the first section? I don't remember them.. . so I probably didn't do them:D

I wasn't sore today - I was really tired though. I did the FIRM's Bootcamp but only did 2 out of 3 of the plyometrics and cardio sections. I did do the abs though. I "cheated" last night and had a glass of wine while I watched Idol;) Oh well.

I may get the medicine ball - I'm sure my DH will use it as well.

I'm making the tilapia with citrus sauce tonight :D

Levitation holds are in the warm up where she puts here hands on the floor while sitting crosslegged and raises up off the ground. If I ever "get" that I will be amazed. I thought about putting my hands on weight plates to give me a prayer of getting off the ground but it seems impossible to me. I have perhaps a long torso, or short arms but I can't even get my hands in the position she is using, if you look closely. I don't think it's that important in the big scheme of things but it annoys me that I can't get that move.

she uses a medicine ball between her knees for rocket shoots. you couldn't use a dumbbell for that. So I think it's worth getting one. I use one alot mostly the ab sections of various cathe workouts. sometimes you could sub a dumbbell but not when you hold the ball with your knees.

Hope you liked the citrus tilapia. I really liked it. I've gotten totally turned on to fish suddenly. I made the baked fish that someone else posted on my tilapia thread , and also the smoked paprika/ polenta one. Liked them all! Poor DH, I need to be careful not to wear him out on fish. I tend to go in spurts.

We did a tough ski yesterday, the first tough thing since I've been sick. It was probably 8.5 miles with about 2000 ft gain, about 3 hours up and 2 back down. Lots of work. the "down" should ahve been easy and fun but it wamed up and the snow got sticky and difficult so it was a lot of work getting back down too. Still, a very nice day.

It's snowing today (since about 1pm) The kids were going crazy in school!!! So after homework and getting snowpants, boots etc.. on the boys I decided to just do Coremax today. And YES the Levitation holds after the Superman! My heels remain in the floor!!!:p Sometimes I rock back in a v and think I'm going to flip over!:D

But good core workout - thanks for recommending it. I'm headed to Target this weekend and will pick up a medicine ball.

I lost another pound:) I did the happy 136.5 dance this morning!! Must be the fish!!!

Fingers crossed for a 2 hour delay tomorrow. Supposed to ice up tonight. Sounds like your skiing was a good first step back. I probably asked this before but do you just head out from your house? Pretty neat if you do:)

Have a great Friday - hopefully we'll see the others soon!!!

No, not from my door... it's an hour or two (or 3) drive depending on where we go. That means we usually don't contend with snow down at "living"elevations. It gets totally nuts here when it snows low. we are not prepared for it...not enough sand trucks/plows, plus it's not flat ( very hilly) so it makes driving nuts. since it's unusual most people are not experienced snow drivers. it's also seldom much below freezing here so snow/ice are usually right in the 32-35 range where it's really slippery. we go to canada often, it's colder and their ice is usually much less slippery, if that makes sense.

congrats on another lb! That's my problem, the wine. I like it and have a glass or two every night. even all my exercise can't apparently overcome that. but I've given up so many things... the lowly glass of white wine I enjoy so much is hard to give up. I've given up butter, a lot of breads, desserts, cookies, on and on and that's getting down to the last thing, my beloved wine.
It sounds like you may well be able to do levitation holds! I'm in awe. I keep trying but unless my arms get longer, I don't think so!

Ahhh the wine - me too!! I didn't do so well with that this week but in the overall scheme of things I think that's ok :)

I did Supercharged Sculpting today with Pam - BSS4. I plan on taking one of the weekend days to rest - not sure which one. We have DH's "holiday" party tomorrow eve and the boys are going to my MIL's. So we have a free evening for just the two of us:) Supposed to get super cold here - highs in the teens. Nothing like Michelle's weather but cold enough for us!!!

I hope you have a great weekend Valerie!
