I am up early (have been up for 3 hours now) and thought I'd get the Klatch going. :p
We've had a MISERABLE week. Rob has been home sick all week. He's still here today, but I'm hoping that he is starting to feel better. He's a pretty pathetic patient. I've been to school to pick up all his mid-term exams and have thoughts of getting him started on doing some work later today. Lucky me, huh?
Tonight I might actually get out of the house for yoga class. I've had to sneak in visits to the gym because Mr. Pathetic hasn't wanted me to leave the house. I've only been able to get there, use the treadmill, then scoot back home. Tonight I'm going to a special yoga event called Party in the Pelvis geared for those of us who have tight hips. Can't wait.
Good morning to everyone else!

Debi...sounds like you have a productive start to your weekend going here. sorry that Rob is not feeling well. My husband has had a really bad sinus infection since December 18, going for an MRI today...I hope rob fairs better!
I went to bed last night with the news of a 2 hour delay so I stayed up and watched the Barrett Jackson Auction, on speed channel. I love those cars and how well they are restored!
Today I plan to get my house cleaned because we are out of school Monday and I am hoping we might go somewhere for the long weekend!
Hope everyone who checks in has a SUPER weekend.

Chefzhat - I must say that Party in the Pelvis sounds like something not to miss.:D Have a great time & hope Rob feels better soon.
JMarie - a friend of ours sold a car 2 yrs ago at that Barrett Jackson Auction (is that the one in Arizona?) and had the time of his life. We spotted him behind his car on t.v. Enjoy your long weekend & have fun!
DD#2 will have her wisdom teeth out this afternoon, so she'll have a quiet weekend filled with ice packs, pain meds and Jello.
She was sick last week, and DS was sick the week before. Luckily they bounced back quickly.
I'm still clearing out, cleaning up and getting the house ready to sell this spring. Sometimes I think I'm so tired of it all, then other times I wish I had a giant bulldozer just to push everything out to the curb. Oh well, push on...
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

Debie- Sorry about your blah week. Hopefully your pelvic party brightens up your day and weekend :)
JMarie- Enjoy the long weekend!
Gingerpow- I so don't envy cleaning out your house to sell it but you should feel great that you are working on it in advance. Good Luck!!
DBF flies in tomorrow afternoon, and he stays until Tuesday afternoon (which means I don't work Monday or Tuesday- woohoo!!). I am looking forward to a long weekend with him. I know he wants me to cook him something... but not sure what yet. I am also toying with the idea of going to see a movie.
Laura and the girls also come into town on Monday so I am sure there will be plenty of entertaining my nieces in my future :)

Good morning!
We have a rainy yucky day here. I am looking forward to continuing my grant writing today. I started yesterday and there is nothing more painful than a blank piece of paper! I am procrastinating right now but I have got to buckle down.
This weekend should be quiet. I have got to do things like laundry, clean out the basement and the bathroom and get organized. I really haven't done too much since I got home from Florida.
Sunday is the Patriots game and the Amazing Race finale so if I work hard tomorrow I can sit on Sunday! :D
Debie - I hope Rob feels better. His patheticness is due to his gender. Every man who sneezes thinks he should be in intensive care. There is nothing on this earth worse than a man with a cold. ;) Party in the Pelvis??? Are you going to take pictures? :D
Joyce - I'm glad things are going well for you.
Ginger - passing on get well vibes for DD and her teeth. My DD hasn't had to do that (yet) and I'm hoping she won't. I never had my wisdom teeth out so maybe she'll inherit that good gene.

It's all cyclical - like the housing market. :) It wasn't so long ago that the Patriots were known as the Patsies because of how bad they were and the Red Sox hadn't won it all for 86 years.
Have a great weekend with DBF! :)

Okay, I'm back after quite a scare this morning. When I turned on the news this morning I got word of a triple fatal accident about 2 blocks from where my best guy friends live. Didn't see the video but they were talking about how the single vehicle was in so many pieces that they needed 3 vehicles to haul it away. Got on the news station's website and studied the photos which left the car unidentifiable except that I could tell it was the same color of blue as one of they guys' jeep. Okay, now freak out begins. I call phones but if they are asleep they don't leave their phones near them and I get voicemail. Ask them to call back when they get the message. Call mom and loose it. Finally while on the phone with mcgeiger one of them calls. They're both okay. :D Thank goodness and yes, I feel terrible for those that did die I'm glad it wasn't my friends. These boys have gotten me through thick and thin. They were my sanity during the nightmare roommate saga from a couple of years ago. I don't know what I'd do without them.
So, tonight I need to rest, bake cookies for the kiddos since I promised them two weeks ago that I'd do it as a reward for a fantastic day they had. Tomorrow is coaching and hopefully it won't be frigid again. I think Sunday I'm just going to chill out. I'm feeling like I'm getting the crap that everyone around me has had and doing everything I can to avoid but may not be successful in the end so Sunday will be a rest and recuperate day for me as next weekend is going to be a bit crazy.
Hi everyone! Read you posts, just don't have the time at the moment to respond to everyone. :)

Robyn1007, I am always amazed at the condition of the vehicles after accidents. I look at them and honestly can't understand how anyone can walk away from any accident. The vehicles today just crumple into a ball. It's really scary.
Life if quiet this weekend. Wow ... quiet 2 weeks in a row.
Some good news. Our cat saw the heart doctor and was given a good report. The heart murmur is not causing heart disease nor is it caused by heart disease. He did note that "growling could be masking symptoms". We are happy with this news. Next for him is dental work which he won't be happy about but it needs to be done.
DM is 99.9% recovered from her mild stroke. It was mostly on her own. :)
DD is finally going snowboarding on Monday. She is really exicted to go and says that she is going whether her friend goes or not with her. Good for her.
Have a great week and I hope everyone gets healthly. :)

Here's an article on the accident. At first they weren't saying what kind of car it was.

Not much excitement here (now), as usual, and thank heavens!
DD2 is still recovering from her surgery -- had a scare in the middle of the night, as one of the incisions was bleeding a little. Both of us nearly passed out -- I think I forgot to breathe! But the doc said it wasn't anything to worry about, but they'd see her if she wanted -- unfortunately, they're about 45 minutes from us, and were closing in... you guessed it... 45 minutes! Neither of us was dressed! We'll keep an eye on it.
DH is going to Atlanta to help our friends who have a pipe leak in the kitchen ceiling -- DD and I will stay here. He's happy, because he'll miss a chicken meal!:p
Robyn, hope you don't catch whatever's going around, and feel better soon! Glad it wasn't your friends in the accident!
DMOrtega -- sounds like good news all around! Wonderful!
Josie -- have a great weekend -- sounds busy!;)
Loren -- good luck with the grant writing! And enjoy the weekend!
Debie -- sorry the DH isn't feeling well! I agree with the others' assessment of sick men! Hope you get out to the pelvis party -- I can't wait to hear about it!;) :p
jmarie -- enjoy your weekend!
GingerPow -- I remember doing that housecleaning before selling! What a hassle, but well worth it on the other end! Have you decided where you're going?
Good weekend, everyone!:D

Hello, everyone.
I got good news about Rob's chronic pain yesterday. His neurosurgeon has a couple of new programs to try on the implant that Rob had last spring. The current program worked for a while and then stopped. Christmas travelling was a nightmare because of how much pain Rob was in. (he says it feels like he's been kicked *there* 24/7 :( --and I can't take the pain away.) If the programs don't work, the surgeon is going to try the first stimulator again. Rob has been getting regular shots at L1 and L2 that reduce the adominal/groin pain by over 60%. --they only work for about 4 weeks and require sedation, so they are not a long term solution.
We don't understand why electrically stimulating the same nerves didn't work last year. The thinking now is that maybe since Rob knows *how* stimulators work and what they feel like that he can tell if it works better now. The trial was in the hospital instead of real life, so it was hard to tell if the back stimulator helped that much. (not to mention just healing from surgery) I'm going to insist that Rob try the stimulator for more than 4 days. When I got mine, I had it for 2 weeks. That was long enough to know for sure if it did or didn't help.
I switched pain doctors because my "fibro specialist" didn't want to help me come off the higher doses of narcotics I've been on since my hysterectomy and bad fall of fibro flares. I don't need that much medicine and haven't been taking it that much--which leads to withdrawl--then I do have pain so I take my meds. My new doctor is in the same group Rob sees, so it's a lot more convenient. He's also a rheumatologist which I definitely need if I'm ever going to kick this fibro cr@p on it's @ss. He has some new directions in helping by using muscle relaxers and said he can help the overwhelming fatigue. --and he's not trying to sell me $50 "supplements" all the time.
I really want our lives back. It sucks to be 30 and not be able to do what you want to do because of pain... but then again, I wonder if Rob and I would be as close if we hadn't endured all this trauma together? I wouldn't change that for anything.
My dad felt bad that I couldn't do much around the house, so at Christmas he gave me the money for the digital SLR camera I've been dying to have. I'm enjoying taking an online photography class to learn it. I'm also working on an Etsy.com storefront to sell beaded jewelry and other artwork. My FIL (a professional photographer) had an extra micro lens that he is giving me to help me photograph my work. I'm enjoying having a focus lately.
Debbie, your "pelvic party" sounds cool. I'd probably need a couple of drinks before I went... :p I hope your Rob feels better soon. We caught the local crud, too, and it was a doozy this year.
Robyn, I'm glad your friends are ok. I hope you don't catch the crud. Enjoy skiing tomorrow.
Rob and I will be spending the weekend with each other, our laptops and a roaring fire because evidently h#ll is freezing over this weekend. I can't wait to move back down South. It is WAY too cold here for me--except when the hot flashes hit, then the snow banks are niiiicceee. :p
Gracie, I hope the writer's block is only temporary.
Joyce, I have a friend that works for that auction company. I love seeing those old cars, too.
DmOrtega, I'm glad your cat doesn't have a serious heart issue. I hope he does well with his teeth cleaning.

Good Morning Everyone!
Well, it's only 11am here in Chicago and I already have accomplished a lot today. I got up at 5:15am, took the pooch to the park (even though it's freezing outside), then I went to the gym for 2 hours and afterwards I went to school. We got dismissed 2 hours early because the teacher had to go out of town for some family stuff. So now I have "free time" till 5pm till I have to go to work.
Maybe I'll stop by at Whole Foods and see if they finally have gluten free oats. I am craving oats so bad these days, I don't care anymore how expensive the gluten free ones are. I just one a big, hot bowl of oats :o
Happy Friday!

Dani - looks like you've got a great day ahead of you. I love getting up early and getting the gym visit out of the way early.
Micah - I hope that you and Rob get your health issues settled soon. Poor Rob!! I hear ya about wanting to move south . . . meeeee toooo!
Kay - take care of that DD! And try to relax and enjoy yourself too.
Robyn - I hope you aren't getting a "bug"! It's the crud that never seems to go away. Glad your friends are okay.
Loren - he has been the most PATHETIC patient. My goodness. Those who think that girls are the drama queens haven't met my son.
I got a couple of errands done and am now making BBQs to leave the men for dinner. It was nice to get out of the house!

good afternoon, everyone! i'm home early today because i had to go on a press run for work and it ended early. i'm "working from home" for a few more hours...just checking e-mails and stuff. and jinx (my cat) is thrilled that i'm home during the day for once, so i'm also playing the ribbon game with her :)
we usually have weekend plans, but this weekend got extra booked for one day! so saturday we're going out for mexican food with some friends, heading to a poetry reading at an art gallery (one of my friends is reading - and hey, free wine and snacks never hurt!) and THEN going to another friend's house to watch a boxing match. woah!
sunday some friends invited us over for pasta and then out to see cloverfield. should be fun. we're off work monday so we can stay out late sunday night for once :)
Debie - the name of your yoga class is hilarious! i love it! let us know how it goes! i hope rob feels better soon - for his sake AND yours ;)
Joyce - don't you just love delays? i think it's the best thing that comes out of nasty weather.
GingerPow - i hope the surgery goes well for DD2 - dental problems are the WORST!
avariell - have a GREAT time with DBF! my DH was a long distance BF for a few years, so i know how valuable those visits are! best of luck!
Loren - i would NEVER procrastinate something...you know, like by killing time on the CLBB. i can't relate at all ;) :p :D
Robyn1007 - what a terrible accident! that's so sad. glad that your friends are safe, though. i hope you feel better soon, too!
DmOrtega - so glad for the good news about your cat and DM!
LakeMartinGal - here's to a speedy recovery for DD2!
mbrogier - health problems are so scary, especially when it's someone you're so close to. i hope everything goes well. and DEFINITELY enjoy your SLR - i looooove mine! good luck with the sorefront too!
tyroleancutie - glad to hear that someone else had the fortune of getting out early today, too!
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND, EVERYONE!

Hey ladies! I have never participated in the Friday Klatch, but now that my masters is done...and my kids are taking a test today I have time!! It looks like everyone has some great weekends planned.
Tonight we are going to a birthday party dinner at PF Changs, I have never been there, but after that thread about a month ago regarding that place, I am not sure I am too excited! Tomorrow my friend and I are going to the Irvine Farmers market, I have not been to that one and have heard it is fabulous so I am pretty stoked. Sunday and Monday (yeah! No school, thanks MLK Jr.!) will be gym/cooking days.
Enjoy your weekends :D !

i like PF Changs. it's not "real" chinese food, but it's better than take out, and they have a nice drink menu (and a lot of teas). everything i've tried there has been good. i've only been there 2 or 3 times, but it was definitely enjoyable. i hope you had a good time!

So it ended up being not so fun :( . We had a "kitchen" table because we had such a large party. The way it was set up was not conducive to a large group. It was interesting to be behind the scenes but honestly, I would have rather been in the main dining room and able to communicate with the birthday boy! Oh well, live and learn.
On another note, I did end up going to the Irvine farmers market and it was excellent, I will be a repeat customer.
I hope everyone else is enjoying their weekend :) .
