Hello!!
Today was an inservice day of us - kids had off, we had to go in!
We had a nice weekend - I did Cardio Sculpt Fusion (or Body Lite) on Saturday - basically pilates, light cardio and weights. And took a rest day yesterday.
Today I did Kelly Coffey-Meyers Stepboxing for the second time. It was better. I got most of the moves and was able to get into it more!:D I skipped the weight portion of the DVD and just finished with the abs. (very light compared to Coremax!!) I was a little concerned b/c my right calf started to cramp up about 3/4 of the way through but I was able to work through it!! Thank goodness!
Goals are lots of water - small portions - and trying for a workout of some kind every day!
Valerie - hope you had a good weekend!!
Joanne and Michelle - hope all is well in your world.:) Even though you're not here sometimes we (I) still think about you!!:)

Did Kick Punch Crunch on saturday and went skiing on sunday. skiing was a trial, snow crummy. it was warm and loads of fresh snow, but it alternated being incredibly slippery and the next second, snow "attaching" to the bottom of the ski. Each foot then weighs about 50 pounds. this is not a pleasant, efficient way to ski. sometimes wax works, sometimes not. so we put on climbing skins even though the road was flat and low, just to get a little mileage covered. It was a pretty day and we did a couple of miles with great difficulty. ate lunch on a bridge over the cascade river with few eagles flying around and one lone salmon working his way upstream. there are other little birds called dippers. they stand on top of a rock, bob up and down, and then dive into tumbling water, catching insects, and then bob out. they are so fun to watch & we saw several. the snow was soooo bad that we realized we should have snowshoed instead. Today went to yoga for the first time in a month and will repeat KPC. yesterday I did 30/30 treadmill and elliptical. tomorrow another crack at skiing, although now the weather is cold and dry. Don't know if the snow will be dry powdery fluff or frozen into boilerplate. gotta go look for ourselves.

Valerie - your description of the dippers is great!! I love watching birds:) In fact when we were in Maine last year, I made my husband back up so we could take a look at an "eagle" in a tree. After about 15 mins we (I) realized it was just a turkey vulture:rolleyes: Boy did my family have fun with that!!!:p
Today I bought an 8lb medicine ball so I thought I'd do Coremax!! I did Fat Blasting Cardio and then did Workout #2. My stability ball needs air!!!:o I was sinking at times. And no medicine ball until workout #3 - oh well. Still a good workout!!:)
Tomorrow's Wednesday!:)

They are so cute and tough little birds besides. they pop in and out of the water like little corks! Not very colorful, drab actually but so spunky!
you won't regret the ball purchase... I use it alot. there are times when you just can't hang onto a dumbbell.

Valerie, even though your skiing adventure sounded frustrating, it also sounded beautiful with the scenery and the birds and fish! Hope you have an easier time of it on your next outing. Are you back to yourself after your virus? I seem to have caught it! I don't think I'm anywhere near as bad as you sounded, but I had the nasty cold/cough thing going. Crossing my fingers - I seem to have fought it off. My daughter is still fighting it off though. I took a couple days off working out. I've got about six more workouts and I will have completed Cathe's January rotation! I did Kick Max a few days ago. BodyMax 2 yesterday and Butts & Guts today. Drill Max is scheduled for tomorrow.
Charisse, those definitely sound like attainable goals! I always think my stability ball needs air - I seem to sink down way more than Cathe on hers. But then I'm afraid of filling it too much and having it burst! So, are the three CoreMaxs progressively more difficult, or are the all about the same level?
Michelle, hope you are doing well.

I forgot to post yesterday. I did the FIRM's Burn and Shape with Emily. My abs were really sore this morning - leftover from Wed's workout!!
Can't workout today - family haircut night:cool: But I gained a couple of pounds - thinking it's hormone related so I'm not going to stress too much about it!
Joanne - good for you!! You did the whole month of Cathe's rotation! STAY HEALTHY! Hope your daughter fights it off too! We have been so lucky here! (fingers crossed, knock on wood and everything else!)
Valerie - tomorrow is medicine ball day:D It has the handle already attached - we'll see how intelligent I am in trying to get it off!!! I love watching the Kingfishers in our area. They sit up on a branch above our creeks chattering away and then suddenly dive head first into the water. LIttle birds with a huge crest on its head and a huge beak. They're fun to watch.
Tomorrow is FRIDAY!! Woo hoo!

We did a better ski yesterday, about 10 miles with probably around 2000 foot gain. the snow at the top was lovely stuff but not lower down. pretty well trampled into icy crud by dozens of skis, snowshoes, sleds, boots, and even a 4 WD vehicle. but that's the way, you have to go further than anyone else did to get to the fresh stuff. took us about 6 1/2 hours amost 4 hours up and 2 1/2 down. I wish I knew what the calorie burn is. I might be impressed. I'm tired today but did 20 treadmill, KPC, and am getting my treadmill fixed today, so will need to do at least another 10 to make sure it's fixed.
Wow joanne, that's a tough program. Congrats on getting thru it. Beware of the "bug" though. I felt good enough to work out after about the 5th day, but it came back with a vengeance. I'm still not 100%. Feel good but still morning congestion and coughing, very unusual for me. :o I still haven't gotten thru Butts & Guts and have only watched Kickmax. I had Drillmax out today but felt too tired and decided to save for tomorrow. Also had a blood draw this morning and don't want to do pushups til tomorrow.
charisse, a turkey vulture is still a good find... not as elegant as an eagle but still an interesting bird. and eagles eat mostly carrion (dead fish) so they are similar to vultures. Yes, we have kingfishers here too. I haven't seen one in a while but lots of time they're heard before they're seen. Now those little guys CATCH live fish. Love to see them dive in and pop back up with a fish. DH and I used to do more birdwatching than we do now but we always carry binoculars so we're 'ready". congrats on getting thru all the workouts this week.
when you take the loop off the stability ball (I assume it's similar to mine) it leaves a groove that makes it easier to hang on to. the groove is a good place to put your fingers. you don't want to drop the ball on your face. what do you think about coremax? I think they're similar difficulty although the pike roll-ins (#2) are nasty. I'm just starting to get the hang of lifting up but am nowhere near vertical yet.

Well, I haven't quite completed Cathe's rotation yet! Still have 4-5 more workouts, I think. Tomorrow LowMax is scheduled and Sunday is Imax2. I think after that is KPC and Cardio and Weights. Today I did Drill Max. I didn't realize how long it is - I think the times are off on the case. I thought I was done and was laying on the floor thinking, whew, I made it, when Cathe says, OK, last cycle. I mustered through the last one.
Valerie, I'm sure you are burning tons of calories skiing. What happened to your treadmill? Yea, I'm still nervous this bug will come back. I've heard it happen to a few other people. The cough is hanging on a bit, but nothing too bad.
Charisse, how did family haircut night go? :) I got mine cut the other day. Kids can be brutally honest. I got a bunch chopped off - I was just tired of it. Well, I come home and the kids tell me they don't like it. Ian's exact words were "it's horrid, but it's not your fault - they did it to you." Oh, gotta love 'em!! Actually I kind of like it now, but I think the rest of the family needs to get used to it!
Yea Friday! Hope you all have great weekends!

Joanne, you're absolutely right, Drillmax is long, but I somehow find it easier than some others. Maybe the intensity isn't quite as high. Not saying it's EASY, however! I haven't done bootcamp in a bit... that one is the one that kills me. I am planning on doing Drillmax today so maybe I'll eat my words.
I wouldn't worry about the haircut. people just react to change. In a couple days when everyone is used to it they'll think the way it was before looks funny. Can't keep your hair the same for decades or you end up one of those people caught in a time warp, getting a re-do on national TV!
The treadmill is unfortunately not fixed. "part" fixed is the best they can do. Both of us are still getting shocks although everything checks out fine and the guy tried a grounding strip and extra grounds on the motor. so we called the store where we bought it and someone should be getting back to me today. to be continued.....

I am sorry for hijacking this thread but I am so interested in learning more about Cathe Friedrich dvds and I notice you all are using them.
I see the letters KPC mentioned, is that a dvd?
How do you know what rotation to do? Did you all buy a program that had several dvds and a rotation to use them in?
I have never done a Cathe dvd but I have been working out in the gym for quite some time and would like to have some dvds at home that give me a really good workout (I do have a step and some weights but no bench or anything at home).
Sorry for the questions and again for the hijack!
Thanks!

Hi Holly! Welcome and stick around!! Are you familiar with Cathe's web site? It's www.cathe.com. You can find out about her DVDs there. I think there are clips of most of them, too. KPC is Kick, Punch Crunch and it's a kickboxing DVD. Cathe puts together a rotation each month using her DVDs (she has about 50 or more) and posts it on her forum on her web site. There's a section for rotations and you can find all of her past rotations there. Do you have any DVDs now? Cathe is definitely the closest to taking a class at the gym.
Valerie, I agree, Drill Max isn't as intense as Boot Camp. The cardio isn't as tough. It's just so long.

Hi Holly;
Yes, go to the cathe website. she has long clips from all her workouts so you can clearly understand what's in there. I've never done her rotations but make it up as I go along. Cathe has kickboxing, heavy weight workouts, high step, circuits, regular step, and core workouts. Something for everyone. She has some easier and some very tough stuff. She's also on the FitTV channel a couple times a day, if you get the station. All her workouts are divided into chapters, so you can do your own combinations if you want. Her DVD's are more expensive than most but some have two complete workouts on them. She's very professional and thorough and has a great on-screen personality in contrast to some who are way too annoying to watch over and over.
Joanne, it's 2:45 and I just got back from shopping. not sure I can fit in Drillmax but I'm gonna try.

Thank you so much for your responses. I do have FitTv and thanks to you all, I went on last night and set my DVR for some of Cathe's shows. I checked out her website yesterday and got a bit overwhelmed, as I wanted to order quite a bit - she does have a TON of dvds.
As I work my way through the FitTv shows and some of the workout clips on her website, I am sure I will get a better idea of which DVDs would be right for me.
Thanks again!
Holly

The TV shows are shortened to fit a TV "hour" so her DVD's include more stuff.
