While I was in Chicago this weekend, I hit the Whole Foods market in downtown. It was heaven. I got to try the Pirate's Booty everyone's been talking about - yum! And I finally found edamame . I live in Indiana where one of the top crops for the state is soy beans, but do you think I can find any????
Anyway, it was wonderful - I haven't been in a market like that since we left Texas (4 years ago), so I had a field day and spent way too much money and of course didn't get nearly as much as I really wanted to (my mom and I were prepared with two coolers, just to visit WF). Another find was Tazo Chai tea - wonderful! But I might actually be able to find that here.
Just had to express my joy!
Lucky you! Isn't it neat when you stumble across great food finds like that!!?? I know the feeling about finding the Pirate's Booty. I care across it at my local store last month and practically hyperventilated! My husband thought I found a $100 bill on the floor or something! :)

I have to ask - since everyone always talks about it - what is Pirate's Booty? Apparently, I am very deprived!

Hi Leanne. I, too, was deprived, but now I know that Pirate's Booty is little cheese puffs - kind of like Cheetos, but with white cheddar. The BIG difference is that they are low-fat and all natural. Now, for me, nothing will replace a good Cheeto, but this is a tasty snack that you don't have to feel guilty about!

lindrusso--
You can find those things in Indy, if you ever make a trip down here. Have you been to Trader Joe's yet? Very cool. Well worth the trip. I live in Indy but on the south side. It takes about 45 minutes one-way, so I don't go every often, but I sure have fun when I do!

lindrusso.....Tazo tea can be purchased at Starbucks. I have bought it there before. I am sure if you do a search with Googles you will come up with websites.

What do you do w/the edamame? I came across some recipes with it, but couldn't find edamame. Then, as you can probably predict, I bought the edamame (frozen) and no longer had the recipes. Any suggestions would be appreciated. TIA

After having stumbled upon Tazo Chai tea at a Starbucks at National Airport in DC in March, I have since become totally addicted to it. Besides ordering from Starbucks and other places on line, I have found Tazo teas at one GNC near my office (but they didn't carry Chai the last time I checked), and at a grocery store in Ft. Collins, CO (a bit of a drive, but worth it :) ). MMMMMMM, if I had some at the office, I would make a cup right now. Gina

This is a very good veggie to thaw and eat raw (shelled, of course!) It has a wonderful flavor!

What do you do w/the edamame?
Well, you can do what the Japanese do, which is to put it in water with salt and soy, boil it, drain it and let it cool (or you can eat it hot). You pinch the pods and pop the beans out. (Good with beer, by the way).
As a point of information to those who are making this and have garbage disposals: the soy pods do not go through garbage disposals. You will end up with a disposal full of what feels like thin fingernails. Just throw the pods out.

Thanks for the tips on the Tazo tea! I LOVE it and will definitely need more soon! I'll have to check around my local stores first - once in a while they surprise you.
JulieO - I live about 3 hours from Indy, so I don't know that I'll get the chance to visit Trader Joe's, but if something comes up and I get the chance, it's good to know they have one!
SQ - Well, I just found the edamame (and it was frozen as well) and haven't had a chance to try any recipes yet. I came across several in Bon Appétit, so I'll be trying at least one of the recipes this week. If it's any good, I'll post the recipe.
