What's an avatar?

Sorry to be a bulletin board idiot, but what's an avatar?

An avatar is the little picture underneath many people's username. You can add one by going to User CP, Edit Options, then scrolling all the way to the bottom and choosing Change Avatar.

I had a problem with the name too. Why can't they just call it a image or graphic or signature....something simple :D
