Hi everyone.

Did Drillmax on sunday and 30/30 treadmill elliptical & coremax #3 on saturday. long time since I did weights and I am pretty sore today. I hate that. if I'm don't do weights for a while then I don't WANT to cause I know I'll get sore.
Getting "traction" on the treadmill problem. service guy could not fix it. so I called the store. The salesman asked me some questions and then started asking about who assembled it. I told him we did. and I of course ( I keep ALL paperwork) had the assembly guide. he asked about a ground wire going from the displayconsole to the frame. I didn't remember that. I looked at our guide and over the phone we compared pics. I made him go thru it twice because I couldn't see "two" wires, only one. same thing on the next picture. so he faxed me the pictures so I could see if they matched. pictures did NOT match.
We think our unit is missing the ground wire from the console to the frame. the motor is grounded and the frame is grounded but the console is not. our assembly guide matches the unit so we had no reason to question anything. It's like this was a prototype model and a ground was added later but somehow we got a unit without a ground wire and a assembly guide to match. To be continued....

Valerie, what a pain with the treadmill! :( They should just replace it. At least you know you had an effective workout if you're sore, right? ;)

I've got one more day of Cathe's rotation! Let's see, I did LowMax on Sunday, Mindy's Intense Intervals (subbed for Imax2) on Monday and Amy's Kickbox Extreme this morning. My KPC DVD would not work this morning  so I had to sub Kickbox Extreme. The last workout is Cardio and Weights. I'll do that tomorrow. I'm hoping she puts up a good rotation for February - it was fun following it.

Hope everyone is doing well.

No news on the treadmill yet. I'm supposed to hear from the big honcho customer service guy. Glad I have the salesman working on it since we will be on vacation next week, and I don't want this to drop off the radar for long. We're going skiing in Montana.
Joanne, I need to look at cathe's rotations although I might be too undisciplined to follow anything for a month. have you looked at the STS thing that she has next? What do you think? She's also getting into a bunch of consumer products like gloves and jump ropes etc.

Did 30 elliptical and part of Power hour yesterday. got started too late and couldn't finish.

I bought a pedometer that someone recommended on another thread & it's really pretty cool. It's an Omron and was about $18. works really well and is enlightening to see how many steps it takes to total 10,000 per day. I leave it on during some workouts but not all. It gets in the way sometimes like with things on the stability ball.

Yuck Valerie - things should work bottom line. I hope things get turned around. I hear ya on the weight thing - I've been using lighter weights and when I do the heavier ones I cringe (b/c I know I've done it with ease in the past!)

Joanne - Sounds like you had a good time following the program. Does she list it on her website? I got a link to her new STS but haven't read it yet. Wonder if Michelle has....

I did Stepboxing on Saturday and REALLY worked it! It felt great!!! Nothing on Sunday - Yesterday I did BSS4 with Pam (heavy weights!) and today I did Fat Burning Cardio FIRM with Allison. My goal is to do something every day. I'm really getting into the routine of working out right after school.

Michelle - hope you're doing well. THinking of you!

Charisse, here's a link to the rotations forum on Cathe's web site (hope this works) http://69.0.137.118/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=7

Her Jan 08 rotation is the first thread - that's the one I did. There's also links to her other rotations. She does a different one every month.

That Stepboxing DVD is really fun once you get the hang of it! Are your boys home when you workout? I workout in the morning, but if one of mine hear me, they get up and lay on the couch and "watch." For some reason they enjoy it! ;) I tell them to join me, but they just roll their eyes.

Valerie, I did look at the STS stuff. It does look intriguing, but I'm having a hard time justifying $200 for it. I'll probably wind up getting it, though. ;) I'd hate to have to pay even more after it's released and the price goes up. I just don't know if I'd stick with it for three months to make it worth it.

Yeah, I'm not sure I'm going to jump at STS either. It sounds like an interesting idea but somehow too expensive for a trial of whether I'd use it. I'm lucky I get a week of following a plan. always do something but just don't seem to stick to pre planned things very often.

Weather was crummy yesterday so did 40 on the elliptical and finally, ll of Power Hour. this was the third time I started it but got interrupted and couldn't finish. I was not pushy with the weight level and feel only a few minor sore spots today. so I guess I didn't lose too much in my layoff period.

Hello!

Well I DVRd some of Cathe's shows and did the Kick, Punch and Crunch one yesterday. It was about 45 min (an hour show w/ commercials), I fast forwarded thru the commercials, but let me tell you I was glad for them! I needed the break to slow down a bit but I loved the workout.

I have since set my DVR for some others, Pyramid Lower Body, Cardio Sculpt (not sure I have that one correct) and I am anxious to try those. As you all have told me, her DVDs have more to them and cool "segments" she has created but I got so overwhelmed with all she had, I thought I would start out by trying some of her workouts.

The STS thing sounds very cool - what I am really excited about is the MP3 workouts she talked a small amount about. I still have a gym membership that I can't get rid of, so that would be cool to take with me to the gym. Like a personal trainer without the large, recurring expense.

UMD98 welcome!:)

Joanne - thanks for the link. I was looking at the intermediate rotations and may modify some of them since I don't have all of her DVD's. I could probably sub some FIRM workouts that have a similar focus. And no my boys don't come near me when I workout anymore!! They used to play around me but no longer:rolleyes:

Valerie - How's the treadmill? Is Power Hour a taped workout?

I did an oldie yesterday - BSS2 with Emily. This is the series with the sculpting stick (which broke a long time ago!) I forgot what a workout the weight sections are - not so much the cardio though. My thighs are sore!!! I had to laugh because back when Sweetpea was with us we used to "get down with the fanny lifter" :p This was one of our favorites way back then!! Can you believe I've been on this thread (and Michelle too!!) for 4 years?!! :)

Today I did Low Impact Step with Cathe. I was really feeling my thighs on the step. Good solid workout.

We're supposed to get hit with ice in the middle of the night. Yuck. We'll probably have a 2 hour delay (hoping we don't get the whole day off b/c then we'll have to make it up over EAster break) If so I'd like to workout again in the am - Coremax will be on my list!!:)

Have a good night all!!

Treadmill is just as "shocking" as always. I haven't heard from anyone about a fix and will be gone next week so if someone doesn't call today I will get on them tomorrow morning to see what's happening.

Power Hour is an older weight workout from Cathe. It's a bit shorter than some but I like the music and I can get done in under an hour. I have to adjust the weight on my barbell a lot but that's true of most of her workouts. I'm stronger on some things than others. There are a couple routines on it that I like alot and if my time is short I reach for PH.

UMD98, I'm no expert on home recording but I recorded cathe originally to see if I'd like her workouts. Our system records onto disks and we found they didn't last very long, maybe 10 playings, and they started to get stuck. Don't know if it's cheap disks or our recorder, but by that time I could tell if I liked the workout enough to buy it. Just a thought, so you know home recordings may not last as long as purchased disks.

Joanne, I think if you bought a disk from cathe directly they will replace the disk for you if it goes bad. I don't know all the particulars.

I've been "eavesdropping" for a while so I hope you don't mind if I jump in!! You guys have been a real inspiration!

I've been working out at home for a number of years (sometimes off-and-on)but have recently started to really step it up. I've tried workouts from a number of people but find I like the Firm and Cathe DVDs the best. I've never considered myself an advanced exerciser but I'm really making progress!! Cathe's workouts are definately improving my level of fitness. I only have a few of hers: Low Impact Circuit, Body Max 2, and Core Max. I ordered Cross Train Xpress but it was terribly scratched when I opened it. I'm waiting for a credit so I can re-order. I read about STS but $200 is a bunch at one time and I think I still need the cardio.

This morning I did Cathe's Low Impact Circuit (lower body circuit). I only have about an hour in the morning so I can't do the entire DVD on a weekday. Still, it was tough but fun and I was sweating up a storm.

Cniles, funny you should mention BSS2. I have those [B]tapes[B] and still use them!! "Getting down with the fanny lifter" is all too familiar!! I didn't buy BSS3 or BSS4 but I do have a couple of thier new ones -- Boot Camp, which I really like, and Ultimate Fat Burning Cardio, which I just got.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi srahndennis!! Welcome! If you like the Firm and Cathe, you'll fit right in here. I really like Low Impact Circuit, too. Cross train express is really fun. Short, tough cardio and weights. I'm still deciding about STS, too. It might depend on how our taxes come out after I do them this weekend. ;)

Valerie, they need to come and deliver a brand new treadmill. That's just ridiculous. Unfortunately, I got my KPC DVD from ebay, so Cathe won't replace it. Although, I actually tried it today and it worked (go figure), so I did KPC and the leg conditioning drills from Kick Max.

Cathe posted a new rotation for February, so I'm going to do that again. The first workout was Kick Max, but I subbed KPC instead. Tomorrow is Drill Max. It's kind of different - she has three cardio or circuit workouts, a rest day, and then three days of weights. This first week she has Slow and Heavy on the schedule. I do have it (of course! ), but I remember trying it and not liking it too much. But I'll give them a try again.

Charisse, I have those BSS2 workouts. I remember getting really sore with Emilys. Did you get your ice storm? We got 8 inches of snow - you'll probably get it in a day or two. Snow day for the kids. They were very excited.

Welcome umd98!! Cathe's workouts on TV are good to start with. You can get a feel for them and decide if you like them. Did you do Pyramid Lower Body? That's tough. It's good, but you have to keep changing the weights on your bar bell - it gets tedious. And, I can never change them as fast as Cathe does, so I'm always pausing.

Hi srahndeniss ... glad you can join us!

I have not heard from anyone re the treadmill so called this morning and so far no call back. I hope this doesn't get unpleasant.

I took the day off yesterday to get things ready for our vacation. so far the roads are worse than I can remember in a long time. the interstate I-90 ( mountain pass) has mostly been closed since tuesday with heavy snow and avalnches plus avalanche control. Geez. it's the main truck route over the mts so the traffic diverted to another pass and that one has been closed alot due to the same issues plus several wrecks. We usually do this drive in a long day but are starting to think we will be lucky if we can do it in two. If we make the wrong choice and either pass gets closed it's almost impossible to get info while you're sitting in traffic. little cell or radio once you get up will it open in 10 minutes? what if it doesn't open for 8 hours? who knows?? and it's a long way back down and then back up the other, which might also be closed. We always allow 2 days for the trip just for this reason but it's never taken us 2 before.

So have fun everyone, I'll check back in a week. I should get in lots of skiing and snowshoeing so should come back in better shape than when I left.
4 years on this thread charisse? why, I'm just a newbie!.
Joanne, glad the disk worked again. DVDs are mysterious sometimes. KPC PLUS the leg conditioning drills? yipes. I took one look at those and decided, maybe another day. and that day hasn't happened yet. today I will probably do KPC and some core stuff. I've looked at the S&H series but don't have them. Wasn't sure I'd do them. I recorded upper body pyramid and KNEW that I'd never do that. tedious to me. whatever, talk to all of you in a while. Have a good week!

Valerie - drive safe!!! See ya when you get back!

I did Coremax workout #1 this am (during our 2 hour delay) and DH did too!! He was too funny = He could actually do the levitation holds!!! He's gotten so darn skinny he barely has any weight to hold up!!!

srahndeniss (Stacy?) - welcome!!! We're definately FIRM and Cathe people here. Engineer (who's taking a break for awhile) has TONS of DVD workouts from a variety of folks! I have all the FIRM's BSS'S - all 4 series. Plus I have the new ones Burn and Shape (with Emily - highly recommended) and the other 2 you mentioned. I like them for a good cardio/weight workout in a timely manner.:)

Joanne - we just got ice this am and it turned to rain - lots of it!!! We're just south of the temp line and never get the good stuff~!:( I need a snow storm (just one is all I'm asking!)

Hope everyone has a GREAT weekend - I'm trying for 2 workouts this weekend. Barring cleaning the house, grocery shopping, driving kids to b'day parties, superbowl party..... Ya know - the usual!!;)

Do you guys have room for one more?!

My name is Allison, and I'm a lapsed home exerciser, getting my duff off the couch in an effort to improve my "bottom line" ;)

I'm a big Cathe fan -- I have all her DVDs except a few of the older ones (I started on E-Bay with a really bad VHS tape of All-Step, to see if I liked her enough to start buying the DVDs).

I'm on the fence about STS also, because I hardly use Pure Strength, Slow & Heavy, and Gym Styles as it is LOL I know I need more weights work, but I don't know if I need to spend $200 more to get 37 DVDs (and where on earth are you supposed to store that many DVDs?!?!). But, like someone else said, I'm sure I'll cave

I haven't done much at all since October, when I did the Breast Cancer 3-Day in Philadelphia. I guess I thought I deserved a few months off, but that's not really working out too well :o

So I've started walking again (only on weekends for now), and tonight I dusted off my step and did Cathe's Basic Step (I figured I should take the first week as an easy one) and Tamilee's I Want that Body buns. I can already feel it.

I've never been able to stick to one of Cathe's rotations either, but I printed out an old one -- Body Fat and Lower Body (8/03) -- because those are trouble spots for me. I figure it's okay to sub some newer workouts in there too.

I haven't heard about a Cathe road trip again this summer. If she has one, is anyone planning on going? I tried last year, but registered at 12:10 so I didn't get in.

Thansk for the welcome, everyone!

Joanne, I'm glad to hear positive reviews about Cross Train Xpress. I debated between it and 4DS but after reading that some people were having trouble with the step routines in 4DS, I decided to save that one for later. The other advantage of Cross Train is that the workouts are all around 60 minutes. That's all I have most days!

I'm just getting in to Cathe's workouts but I love the rotation idea. I don't know that I can manage workouts six days per week but I think I'm going to try a modified version of the February rotation. Of course, I don't have all the DVDs she selected -- what a way to keep us buying! I did decide to buy the gym style series because I don't really have a weight-focused workouts. I'm thinking that if I use that three days per week with Cross Train another three days that I'll have something close to what Cathe suggested.

Charisse, yes, it's Stacy. And thanks for the Burn and Shape recommendation. Netflicks seems to have a lot of the Firm workouts so I'll check to see if they have it. It's nice to try before buying!

Valerie, your vacation sounds great -- except for the drive. Yuck. Hope your travel is safe and expediant. Have a great time! Hope you heard something about your treadmill before you left. What a drag! We bought a new treadmill last March and have had someone out once to work on it. But, we need to have them come back out as the problem really isn't fixed.

Allison, the 3-day Breast Cancer walk sounds like a lot of fun. That's a big accomplishment. Glad you're getting back into the swing of things. My dilema about STS (other than where to store it, LOL!) is that I only have about an hour during the week to workout. It soulds like I'd have to give up cardio and since I still have some pounds to lose (5 to WW goad but I'd really like to lose about 15 more total), I don't think that's the best thing for me.

No workout for me this morning, we had another 8am basketball game. I've managed to get up all the other Saturdays but just couldn't do it today. Hoping to get something in tomorrow!

I did Kelly Coffey-Myers Stepboxing this am - GREAT cardio session. Thanks Joanne for the recommendation!! I can really feel my abs working on this one:) Weight work tomorrow am (hopefully)

Stacy - very cool that netflix has the workouts to try - check out Total Body Time Crunch too - another new FIRM workout - part cardio and part weights.

Allison - WELCOME aboard!!:) Where in the Philly area are you from? We lived in Phoenixville, Conshohocken, Norristown and King of Prussia - we were there for about 15 years and then moved to central PA 4 years ago :) I really miss the area (NOT the traffic of course!);)

Off to run DS to a birthday party!!

I haven't tried Kelly yet, but I've been thinking about getting one of her workouts because I keep seeing her name pop up.

Anyone try Traecy Strahle (I think that's her name)? Her name is popping up too.

Cniles, we live in East Falls, next to Roxborough. I worked in KofP for almost 8 years, during the 76/202/422 interchange construction. THAT was brutal!

Stacy, the 3-Day *is* a great experience. I vowed to only volunteer this year but I changed my mind a couple weeks ago and have decided to do it again :) You'll be pleased with CTX -- it's a great series.

Today I did a 6.5 mile walk. The brisk air felt great! My legs are still sore from the 15-minute buns workout I did on Friday! Think I'm out of shape or what?!?!
