Happy Monday!
We had an unexpected 2 hour delay this morning -guess there was some ice? Anyway I was able to workout before school today:) I did Total Body Time Crunch (FIRM) - glad to get it over with!! Yesterday I too took a walk Alleycat! It was really mild and it was great to get outside and BREATHE!!
Goals this week - stop the snacking at school (walk by the Hershey kiss jar Charisse!!) And a workout everyday!
How was the rest of everyone's weekend?

Charisse -- I would kill for a 2-hour delay!! Lucky you. But of course, I wouldn't want the yuck that goes along with. Congrats on getting your workout out of the way!!
We had a nice weekend here -- in the seventies both Saturday and Sunday. And it was eighty yesterday! Just wild but as long as everything doesn't start blooming early, it's okay with me!!
I did the Firm's Boot Camp this morning -- tough but fun. I'm starting my modified Cathe February rotation today -- this week's goal will be another cardio tomorrow, then three days of heavy weights. Hope I can walk after all that!!
Who's next??

Ah, the 70s!! That would be nice. Actually, Philly is supposed to hit almost 70 tomorrow, and today we're looking at the low 60s :) Unfortunately, it's been spitting rain all morning, so don't think I'll take DD for a walk today.
Last night I did CTX: Leaner Legs. Because I haven't done weights in so long, I decided to go light with them. I also did some exercises (sit and squats and plie squats in particular!) without any added resistance. I decided it was important to me that I be able to walk up and down stairs today LOL
Today, when DD goes down for her nap (within the hour I hope), I'll be doing Imax 2.
I'm trying to learn more about the science of exercise and the body, like having protein after a workout to help muscles repair. In recent reading, I've heard that more than 30 minutes of cardio exercise a day is actually bad for you. Once you burn through the carbs, you actually start to burn your muscles for fuel instead of fat. Anyone else hear/read anything about this?

Alleycat - that's interesting about cardio burning up muscle instead of fat.. I haven't read much about it (tend to go for the fiction when I have time!!;) ) If Engineer is around she may have a say on it - she's pretty well read on this stuff!!
Stacy - It was close to 60 today - looks like it's weird weather all over!! I like the Boot Camp DVD - the squat thrusts work me!!
I did the FIRM's Burn and Shape with Emily this afternoon. I really like how the new FIRM DVD's are doing a lot with obliques in their routines.
Gotta run to the store - need pine nuts for CL's Lemon Chicken with Pine Nuts and Ginger recipe!!:)

I did the FIRM's Fat Burning Workout this afternoon. (needed to work off a miniature snickers bar!!)
Tomorrow I will take the day off as my mom and sister are coming down for a brief visit.
Weird weather today - almost 65 degrees!! I wore capris to school :)
Hope everyone is doing well!! Keep sweating!!:)

OK, no more excuses! I need some inspiration to get up and get moving. It's not like I'm lazy, I just haven't made time for excercise and end up just sitting in front of the tv at night, with a bottle of red wine!!! And it is showing up in my waist line.
I have a full Gym upstairs, a huge treadmill, bike, ball, steps...and just don't go up there...Can you guys give me the push?
I used to run/walk 2 miles a day, I eat well not too many fatty foods, no sweets, during the summer I'm outside in the garden every day after noon...in the winter, cold for me is 50 degrees...i just sit...YIKES!! HELP!

Ready???............ BIG PUSH!!!!!!!!:)
Welcome pointerhaven! That first step is the hardest. I know I've been there. In the past we've gotten out the wet noodle on this thread!:D
You have a gym upstairs? Very cool! Please feel free to join us here - we definately give each other the push when needed and report in on our progress! Tomorrow's Friday - see what you can do by the weekend!!
I'm at home with a sick child today. I had to scramble to get coverage for my hours (everyone is home with sick kids!!) Luckily it seems to be a low grade fever with a rash on his arms - benedryl here we come! So I'm baking muffins, cleaning up the house and maybe I'll get a workout in!!
Have a great Thursday everyone and stay healthy!!:)

Thanks! I'm going to go get my excercise clothes on right now, I'm going to run and then I'm going to try and get the hedge trimmer started...
Gardening is the best excercise and it's beautiful here today!!!

DAY 1

I'm here!! It's been a busy few days but I'm still exercising. I did Firm Ultimate Fat Burning and Core Max #2 yesterday and Cathe's Gym Style Chest and Triceps this morning. I think my chest is going to feel it!!
For those of you with a stability ball, what size do you have? I figured out that the one we have is too big for me -- DH bought it and he said it's the large one. I had a *bit* of trouble trying to do some of the Core Max moves because the darn thing just takes over. I didn't know there were multiple sizes and I really don't want to turn our bedroom into a gym but I think I'm going to have to get a smaller one.....
Welcome, pointerhaven and congrats on day 1!! That's a great start! I'm so jealous -- I'd love to have a dedicated workout space!!
Charisse -- Hope DS feels better soon. Everyone is sick here, too. I'm grateful that we've avoided it so far (knocking on wood).
Allison - I watched the CTX Leaner Legs workout. I'm impressed - it looked really tough!! Like some of my Firm stuff on steroids. I have heard/read that when your heart rate is too high that you're burning muscle, not fat. I've started using a heart rate monitor when I work out. It's quite telling and I don't feel like such a loser when I need to slow it down!
"See" you all tomorrow! ;)

Congrats on Day 1, Pointer :)
cniles, being home with a sick kid is no fun. My stepkids got me sick each weekend they were here in January -- strep throat and stomach flu. Blech. I *did* lose 5 pounds, but that didn't last ;)
Yesterday I gave myself a rest day. My hamstrings and glutes were really sore (that darn Leaner Legs). I decided that, because I'm out of the exercise swing, it's best to avoid injury! Today I picked up again with the rotation, doing Cathe's Muscle Endurance. Tomorrow it's PS Legs + 20 min run (which will be step or hi-lo aerobics for me).
Stacy, my heart rate monitor must need new batteries. The other day, it registered "00" most of the time. Today, in the span of 2 minutes, it spiked to 200 bpm and dropped to 66 before deciding upon 135 and then back to "00." LOL I have to see if Polar has an authorized place here for battery changes!

Well, no workout for me today. I came down with the stomch flu or something like it last night. And I think I just knocked on wood???? It will probably be next week before I get back at it. I am so sore from the Gym Style Chest I did yesterday -- I can't imagine how it's going to feel tomorrow!
Allison, I'd be interested to hear what you find out about your HRM batteries. Mine is a Polar, too, and the instructions it came with are quite vague about how you do that. I haven't had mine very long but when it's cold (and cold it relative here -- I live in Texas!), I get the low battery signal and it won't beep until I've warmed it up. It's annoying.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

First of all - GREAT JOB WANDA!!! :)
Stacy - I hope you're feeling better! Yucko (sorry Wanda had Rachel on my mind!:D )
I had a polar HRM but can't find the thing you strap to your chest!! I have the wrist monitor but can't find the other thing.
Allison (Feel free to call me Charisse!) - great job on doing the leg DVD. I have a hard time just concentrating on one area. I'd much prefer to do a mix of everything!
DS is feeling better and went to school today! Yea it's Friday which means homemade pizza and wine at our house!!!:) I think it looks like a low key weekend - I'm hoping to make it over to Wegmans on Saturday (it just opened about 6 months ago - I'm in heaven!!)
Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!:)

specifically, but does runing up and down the stairs multiple times, doing five loads of laundry to completion, even put them away, and chopping and cooking for Chicken Noodle Soup count!!!
I'm batteling a chest cold and just couldn't face running, but I'm feeling like I'll get there today...I'm drinking a ton of water, ate a healthy lunch and then the soup for dinner....Today more water and soup for lunch..Don't know what I'll do for dinner..need to look in the freezer, maybe Osobuco, as I have lamb and veal shanks...
Friday I didn't excercise either. I worked until 1pm and then my daughter came with her dogs. We walked around the yard, they ran and then she told me that SHE's PREGNANT!!!! Didn't think I'd be excited, but truthful I am.
What did everyone else do? Wanda
