I cannot find it anywhere and want to make the turkey sandwiches from this months mag. I don't know what it is like and wonder if I could substitute whole cranberry sauce? I live in the metro D.C. area. Anyone know where I can find it?

Hi there. Have you tried Bun Penney. Le Gourmet Chef, Harry & David (Tyson's Corner)Williams-Sonoma. Mayube Rodman's (one in Wisconsin Ave the other one in Rockville & wheaton). Now Produce GAlore carries an assortment of chutneys etc. I suggest you call and ask saves you a trip or two

I couldn't find it either so I purchased some Farmhouse Chutney...it has cranberries in it as well as apples, raisins, orange peel...etc.
I'm assuming they just wanted some kind of tart fruitiness so I went with what I could find.

Since the recipe finder on the main site isn't working, I'll post this recipe which my wife picked up at the CL On the Move trailer this past weekend.

Cranberry Chutney

1 cup chopped Granny Smith apple
1 cup raisins
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup sugar
1 cup white vinegar
3/4 cup chopped celery
3/4 cup water
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1 (12-oz.) bag fresh or frozen cranberries

Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 30 minutes or until slightly thick, stirring occasionally. Serve with turkey, chicken, roast pork, or ham. Yield: 4 cups (serving size: 1/4 cup).

Note: Refrigerate remaining chutney.
