Hi, all! What do you have going this week?
Today I did a 55 min brisk walk on the TM. No energy for a run this time, but definite plans for one tomorrow. Still at it with the Tibetan Rites, too.
How about you?

Good going, Kathy! I did a full workout this morning with weights. I really need to do this more than once a week. There just aren't enough days available! <sigh> Still going with the Tibetan Rites as well.
Next?

Nothing for me......
Last Sunday I went to the gym and did 30 minutes on the Stairmill and then 35 minutes on the TM. I took my shower and got dressed. It took me around 15-20 minutes to put on and tie my shoes. My left side of my back was so tight I had no range of motion.
Needless to say, I was in a bad way. I finally went to the doctor on Wed. when he informed me I have a bulging disc. No weights for me for a while.
I am scheduled to go back to the doctor on 2/28.
Today is the first day, I have not needed to take ibuprofen!
The pain is almost gone. Although the doctor said I could do the TM, bike, and the elliptical, I am going to wait another few days to make sure the pain is really gone.
I had back surgery in 2001 on L4/L5 so this really concerns me.
Hopefully I will be able to resume exercise even if it must be at a lower intensity level soon!

Tigermorris, Sorry to hear about your back pain, but I am glad it is getting better. I think waiting a few days sounds like a really good idea. Take care of yourself!
Yesterday I did the TM for about 40 minutes as well as some yoga in the AM. Today I worked another 12 hour shift, so only got the rites in....thank goodness for the rites! I did do a lot of walking though...we have been unbelievably busy.
So who else is working out?

I did the water aerobic thing yesterday, but for some reason, just couldn't get going! I felt like I was going to fall out about halfway through. :( DH had left early (5:30 am), and I got up with him, then went back to bed, so maybe that had something to do with it. Anyway, I got through it, but didn't enjoy it or get as much out of it as usual. I'll be better tomorrow!;)

Finally .... I made it to yoga class last night. I love going to the class. The instructor went over the Tibetan Rites with everyone. It gave me a chance to improve my positions more correctly. I always have room for improvement. I noticed that even though I hadn't been to the class for a while, doing the rites daily has kept me limber enough to do more of the other moves. That is not a bad thing at all. :D

Water aerobics again! Are you guys getting tired of me saying this?;)

Not unless you are getting tired of me saying 50 min on the TM! :D I did that yesterday. Nothing today since I was at work again until 8:40. Still got the rites in, though!

I never noticed that 50 minutes was your 'normal' exercise!:D I guess you have enough other stuff going on, like the Rites. I looked at those, and I'm sure my 62-year-old back would NEVER let me get into some of those positions, though I was thinking yesterday during aerobics that I have really loosened up my lumbar stenosis by strengthening my back/ab muscles!
Last week, I weighed in under 200 for the first time in 5 years!

LakeMartinGal, don't sell yourself short. Yoga is very adaptable to everybody because of all the modifications that can be done. You mentioned that your back is limbering up because of what you are doing now. Kudos to you! You can see that the effort you are putting in does make a difference.
Just this morning, I was actually thinking of a reason not to do the rites. Some days are harder then others and I wondered why am I not looking for a reason to do them. I know if I don't then I won't feel as good as I do. I know that the older I get, the harder I have to work. I have to do this for myself. So, I did them, it took 5 minutes  and I feel great. A little tired but great. I've added another day to my accomplishments and that is why I do them. Besides it's like earning interest on my health and it's only 5 minutes. :)

Well, it's not always exactly 50 minutes, but it's always the TM. At least during the winter. I am too much of a wimp to get outside and run in the cold (which for me is pretty much anything below 50 degrees)!
So today it WAS 50 minutes on the TM! Plus some AM yoga.
Great going on your weight loss, Kay! I am sure a big part of it is due to the fact that you are so consistent in your workouts. Way to go! :)

I was wondering why I am tired and I forgot that my dd and I played and hour of racquetball, last night. She is really a competitive player and we have fun.
Tomorrow is field hockey in the morning and Sunday will be a 5k walk because the weather will be nice. The weather reports are predicting 50* and sunny.
And ... since this is a 3 day weekend, Monday I'll start pruning the butterfly bushes and vines, so my arms and back will be getting a workout.

So, does bowling or playing tennis on the wii count as exercise?;) :D

If my kids say that they were sore after playing with the wii for an hour, then yes it counts. Everything that will get us up and moving counts. I also hear that the wii is being used in retirement homes as a form of excersise. Even those that are stuck in a wheelchair can play. I love that idea and that makes the wii a more valuable game to me. :D

Everybody is doing so great with our various exercising! Good going to everyone! I've been around but haven't posted. I did 40 minutes on the treadmill Wednesday night and did a yoga class tonight. Also did the rites and some Pilates leg work each day. I really want to like the rites...I really haven't seen any major changes and have felt like they were harder to do the last few days. I keep thinking they'll end up as mindless and much easier at some point... <sigh>
Who's next to post??

I've been working out too, but not posting. Wednesday was Pilates, yesterday was a crazy day at work (and yep, I forgot to wear my pedometer:rolleyes: ) and today was the bike and full-body weight workout. I hope everyone enjoys their weekend:)

Be sure that you are inhaling on the upward movements and exhaling on the downward movements. The breathing is very important to the sucess of the moves. This seems to make a difference for me. When I find myself switching the breathing, I find that I just don't feel as good.
This mornings routine was smoother and easier then yesterday.
