I just posted this thread over on the SparkPeople message boards, but wanted to post it here too:

So, I was trying to coax some of our team members into a bit more chatter/participation by posting the monthly thread, but it doesn't seem to be happening. I have to admit, I was hoping for a little more give and take with everyone signing up over here (at SparkPeople).

So, I was curious as to why it's been so quiet. Is it a time issue? Do you not like the format of the message boards here (at SparkPeople)? Don't feel like you have much to say? Are you really active with other groups within SparkPeople?

Would having a weekly or monthly thread over on the Cooking Light boards help? Seems like we just get better participation over there - no matter what the subject matter. Would people be more likely to check in over there?

We'd still have blogs and spark pages and things to share over here (at SparkPeople), but maybe have just a weekly or monthly check in thread over there (at CL) to encourage participation.

Any thoughts?

For me, it's been time and health issues preventing me from doing what I should be doing. I'm hoping to get that under control in the next few weeks at which time I'll do better. And even better when ski season is over in 2 months. :o

I like all aspects of the CLBB, so I check in here first. I don't always even sign in to SparkPeople, cool program that it is, b/c it becomes just one more thing to do/track/monitor. Also, I've been really struggling with exercise lately, so my weight has been constant, and it seems pointless to check in at SP just to say "still not exercising regularly; still trying to eat healthfully but have lost no weight; same ol' same ol'." :o I'm hoping that when the weather's less nasty, I can resume the walking habit & start dropping some lbs; until then, it's kind of humiliating to be over at SP with my weight-loss ticker still stuck in the same place. So it's me, not you! :)

I'm not really doing SparkPeople, just counting calories and exercising, so I don't feel like I have much to contribute -- and I just don't think to check it because of that. I'd much prefer having a thread here, as I practically live on this board! Much to the angst of my DH, occasionally...;)

BTW, since September, I have lost 14 lbs, just by journaling and trying to keep under my 1475 calories a day, and exercising (water aerobics) twice a week! Finally, under 200!:D I have a program in my PDA that makes it easy to keep track, and since I always have my PDA nearby, that's what I do!

Almost right after I joined the CL group over there, I got the flu, the real flu, and was even hospitalized for a day for dehydration. I am now finally back on my feet and ready to contribute. I was keeping track of my fitness and food every day, logging on frequently, and I'm ready to jump back in. I do have to say, I really dislike their message board format though.

I've been working out consistently but I haven't lost any weight so I haven't posted, but I only have a little to lose so it will take a while.

I think I have some kind of food allergy / intolerance though so I need to figure that out first. I am pretty sure I am eating the right amount of calories. Neither sparkpeople or a couple of the free websites let me enter both the workout data and food data that I want so I am tired of doing two logs. So I will try to make a doctor's appointment soon and go from there.

I just don't like the way the boards are set up at Spark People. I am also not following their plan, so I don't make use of a lot of the features there. I am so in the habit of checking here first.

I was doing a lot better over there, but then I got sick, things have been busy, and I haven't even checked in anywhere as much. I unjoined a few spark teams over there because I just didn't have time to check in.

I still like it; I like the 'team' aspect for motivation. I just need to get me back on track. I think it's time for me to post another "I will" thread because I need it this week as i hope to get back with the program. In addition to the CL team, there are some people over there that either I know IRL or joined around the time I did and have sort of 'found' each other for support and such. I do like that aspect. I just need to find the time and motivation again.

I haven't been tracking food as much. I still lost last week, so I hope it's because I'm being more conscientious (today being the exception), but I have a feeling I may have gained the last few days.
