My husband is probably having his wisdom teeth pulled today. Any good ideas on dental work-friendly foods I can make for him while he recovers?

Smoothies are great because it's easy to add some soy milk or different juices & dairy products & fruits to make it into a more rounded meal than a milkshake or jello. Soup is good too, but for the first day or so it may be difficult to use a spoon. I also ate a lot of rice pudding when I had my w. teeth out.

Julia, there was an awesome thread on this topic back in June. Do a search for the phrase "wisdom teeth." Lots and lots of yummy soft stuff.

thanks for all the tips - as it turned out, he wasn't very hungry yesterday - he had smoothie of yogurt, milk and blueberries and that was it - and a lot of V8 and apple juice. The nurse at the dental office suggested cream of wheat and scrambled eggs which he got for breakfast and she also suggested pasta, which I thought was interesting. Tonight I'm going to try making him a cheese lasagne.

another couple of cents:
i've had a ton of oral-maxillofacial surgery in my life, and my favorite recovery foods, most of which needed to be consumed via a straw, were smoothies (then called shakes) and soup that had been pureed in the blender.
good luck!

Cream of wheat is the best! When I had tongue surgery several years ago (there's a trip down memory lane  ) I lived for 2 weeks on cream of wheat. My tongue was so swollen, I had to thin it with lots of milk and dribble it between my back teeth with an eye dropper. It was substantial enough, though, that I didn't feel hungry. However, I was awfully glad when I could actually chew again!
