View Full Version : Oster Breadmaker
I just found an Oster 2# Expressbake Breadmaker for $28. Does anyone have any experience w/this brand? I'm mainly curious on how it does w/whole wheat, and if the pan stay firmly in the brackets. (I threw out my last machine b/c the pan kept popping out during the mix cycle). TIA for your comments.

I had an Oster brand breadmaker, I threw it away after the belt on the bottom kept popping off and finally broke. I replaced the belt, but the thing just kept failing. The bread stuck to the pan and was terrible to get out. It was also very noisy. I would not recommend this brand. I have a Breadman now and am much happier with it. It does crusts beautifully. What a world of difference! You get what you pay for in this case.

Contrary to the other posts, I am very happy with my Oster.
I have had it for 1 year. I use it for dough only for my sourdough bread. I have made the 58 minute bread, which is a white bread, that mixes and bakes complete in 58 minutes. Have done whole wheat as well. Doesn't pop out of the slots on the sides. As with most breadmachines, the blade does usually stick a little in the bottom of the bread. For 28 bucks, I would give it a try.

I have a regular Oster that is over 3 years old and have never had problems with it. I make the recipes that come with the book, as well as other recipes. I find that I really do not have to make adjustments and 99.9% of what I have baked turned out great. The other 0.1% is based on my absentmindedness and losing track of how many cups of flour I have already added - the "was that 3 or 4 now" question to myself.
Have fun with it. At that price, what have you got to lose, anyway!
