I just got back from Seaside Florida - WOW! What an amazing place. It is between Panama City and Pensacola on the pan handle. It is so beautiful. The sand is as white as it gets and the water is as clear as it gets. You park your car and just walk through the town. It was a bit steamy for this Colorado girl - but I HIGHLY recommend the area to anyone looking for a beach. My 4 year old loved it and so did my dh and I!

I even tried catfish for the first time. I don't know if I would make it at home - but would eat it again!

It is nice to be back!

We are going to the FL Gulf Coast on Sep. We live in Houston and the TX Gulf Coast down to about Corpus Christi is still being fed from the Mississippi RIver, so it is brown, even the sand. I am looking forward to seing the pretty side of the Gulf! Glad you had fun!

another lovely beach around that area is destin. it's just as white and clear. you should go check it out if you have a chance.. but, don't bother going to panama city.. it's been ruined by spring breakers. enjoy. i love the fl gulf coast!

I have to concur. Seaside is the most charming place I have visited in a long time. I was only there for a day trip, down from Ft. Walton Beach. If you stayed in Seaside on your trip, I would love to know where. I want to go back and would love a recommendation of a great place to stay. Gina

Gina -

We stayed at a little guest house cottage called the Aley Cat. It is behind another cottage - in the alley - a walking, sand path - charming. It was a one bedroom with a pull out couch!

The prices are pretty pricey - my dh's company paid for it. The cottages there are amazing! We just parked our car and walked and rode bikes everywhere! The best! Gina - you will love the place!

I totally agree! We have been there twice. My husband surprised me a few years ago with a trip there for our 5th anniversary. Actually we stayed in Sandestin (between Destin & Seaside). The last trip was back in September for our last "prebaby" trip. We ended up driving from Houston to Destin and it was a really fun trip. My neighbor's mom lives in Seaside so they know the place well. I have a list of restaurants and things to do there when we go if anyone's interested, just e-mail me privately. BTW, if you didn't know, Seaside is where the movie "The Truman Show" (with Jim Carrey) was filmed. It (Seaside, Destin & Sandestin) is a WONDERFUL family place to visit. We can't wait to go back!
