I have been debating about calling my doctor all week about this; but I don't want to look like a complete moron/overreacting woman! Here's what's happening:
Last Friday I started having this pain at the top of my calf muscle, below my knee. It was not a sore muscle but a different kind of pain. Saturday I had some numbness and tingling in my foot and the outer part of my leg. By the afternoon it was gone. The pain in my leg has persisted all week--same spot, no change in pain level etc. I had a little bit of numbness again yesterday in my leg, I sort of felt like I had had a shot of novocaine in part of my leg (It felt big and heavy).
I am on my feet most of the day as a teacher and mom but the past 2 weeks have been the same as usual so I don't think that is the cause of my pain.
I am wondering if this is a blood clot? I only thought of it b/c my mom has been having trouble with blood clots in the last 18 months or so. I am not rubbing the spot as I have heard that rubbing a blood clot can cause it to break off.
So, blood clot or just a weird pain and me thinking the worst  ?

Are you taking BC pills or other hormones? I'd have it checked. Looking like a moron is way better than the potential alternative if it is a clot.

I'd have it checked, too. I would imagine that the tendency to develop clots might be hereditary. Hope all's well. :)

I am not on any meds or anything (I did take a Mucinex today--getting my early spring head cold!) and I am only 35. Guess I will call tomorrow and talk to the nurse to see what she thinks!

You are not over reacting, call for an appointment. You will sleep better knowing what it is. Besides, now we all want to know what it is....so....get it checked and giev us an update. Good luck. Debralynn :)

Trust me, no health professional feels badly about sending someone home healthy!
Have it looked at, sooner rather than later.
DVT and another clots may not show symptoms.....

Ditto what everyone else said. People in their 30s get blood clots occasionally and I would way way way rather go in and have it be nothing than have it be something and not have it checked. I have personally taken my mom to the ER and waited 12 hours to have someone check her for a potential blood clot in her leg (it was nothing) and it was worth every minute of sitting there.
Call your doctor. :)
Did you call? If you haven't done so yet, go take care of it. You know your body best. If you're having symptoms, something is going on. Put your mind at ease and find out what it is.
Let us know how you're doing.

Besides, if it is a clot, you really, really don't want it to travel to your lungs.
Why? Because that pretty much results in a one way ticket to meet the grim reaper. And I'm fairly sure you don't want that.
Get it checked out! There are things that they can do to treat any you may have and help to prevent them in the future.
Do you have a red line running down from the area where the pain is? My cousin was in the same situation as you-turned out he went to the ER and it was a blood clot in his leg and part of it broke off into his lungs. Pretty scary and he is only 41!

I went to the doctor this afternoon. He said he didn't think it was anything to worry about, he thought that maybe I bumped/injured it and just don't remember (?-the pain is in an odd place I think I would remember, but.....). He gave me an anti-inflammitory (sp?)
He did say that if I develop a rash in the area, then I have the beginning of shingles. The pain I described, along with the numbness and a rash would indicate shingles! I never would have thought of that.
So, I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks for everyone's feedback!
