I see at the bottom of our reply window room for an attachment, like a jpg photo or something? Does that mean that we could finally post photos or similar at the bottom of our posts and have them show up under the text? If so, I can see that being so handy!! Not just for sharing photos of each other, but for attaching a digital photo of a CL dish we just prepared for review!
Please tell me that's what this is? I didn't want to test it and have it come out all screwy! :D

If this works...it's a pic I found on the internet that closely resembles my cat Ashley when she was a kitten. :) Here goes!
LOL! I guess it didn't work. ...at least I don't see it...lol...bummer!
Perhaps the files have to be uploaded to a website first??

OK, let's bump this up to see if we get an answer! If that's NOT what it's for, it should be! Imagine the fun we could have with photos folks!! Maelynn?? Are you listening?? :D

I am no way a computer guru, but wouldnt the attachment function be like sending an email where you can attach a file such as a word document, etc.
Just my guess

According to the FAQ's help section, we are supposed to be able to attach files of this type: gif jpg png txt bmp jpeg.
However it does say ""The administrator may allow you to use the attachment feature of this board,....."
Maybe Maelynn has to approve the attachment first. Well I tried it...and it doesn't work for me either.

The attachment thing would allow you to "attach" a file or image to your post. The attachment would then appear within the post or as a link to the attachment, which, when clicked, would download the attachment to your hard drive.
This is currently not enabled. For the same reasons that custom avatars cannot be uploaded from your hard drives, attachments aren't available yet either.
To make a long story short, it's a security issue. The custom avatar and attachment options actually allow users to place items/files/images directly on our servers. This is generally not a good idea.
And although I don't believe for a second that any of our current users would do something so malicious as to attach a virus, we have to guard against it. This also helps protect our users because any virus that was attached could possibly then affect their hard drive if they clicked on the link.
We are looking into other ways to make posting images possible without sacrificing your security or ours.
Thanks for asking!
Maelynn
