I just jumped back on the Weight Watchers bandwagon, and I'm doing Core. I just finished my plan for the week and sooooo many CL recipes work.

Thanks to the BB, I found Fage yogurt, I think the fat free is great. Love the consistency. That with some fruit will be breakfast tomorrow.

One of the Core foods is whole wheat couscous so I'll be making a fav salad --- couscous, grape tomatoes, cucumbers, feta (I'll count the points since not a fan of the ff stuff), olive oil, lemon, and a bit of oregano. I'll probably add some chicken to up the protein. An easy lunch to make.

I do love the list of Core foods ---- much of what I normally eat: lots of fruit, veggies, whole grains, lean meats etc. Now all I need to do is keep myself out of the stores when they put the Easter candy on sale. :D It's when I make bad food choices, that's where I get into trouble, aka, add to my thighs.

Anyone on Core. How do you like it? Any favorite Core recipes.

Thanks,

Angelina

I have been on Core since my first day on WW, and it has worked great for me. Like you, most of the foods on the list are the ones that I like to eat (or more accurately, that I feel I should eat!).

If I was doing points, I would just eat my points' worth in Oreo cookies and starve myself for the rest of the day. Honest, I could do that. :D

Like you said, so many of the CL recipes are Core that I don't really have any particular favorites. But feel free to ask any other questions! :)

Thanks Angela. I'm with you on the cookies. I didn't like how I would use some of my points for not the best food choices. I'm all for a treat but really, do I need to eat so many 100 calorie packs. I think not.:D

I do like how Core has the fruit/veg, protein, etc requirements. At least than the bulk of you eating is good choices. Similar to a WW plan (had some requirements you had to meet each day) from years back.

I am still working on eating until satisfied -- that's tough for me, to know when to stop.

My plan for today so far:
B: Fage yogurt, banana, some walnuts (counted)
L: whole wheat couscous salad with chicken, black beans, tomatoes, lime, olive oil.
D: Salad with bals/olive oil, chicken, brown rice, veggies, and ....
S: clementine, grapes, Fiber One bar (counted)

I do need to work in my 2 dairy requirement. I'm not much of a milk drinker, except if I am having cereal, and for some reason only like yogurt in the AM. I need to work on that. I love cheese, but have to count points if use anything other than ff. I will use points since don't care for ff.

I know it says 2 proteins/day. I now realize that in the past my lunch often had little protein, unless I was getting a turkey sandwich. My salads in the past only at best had a bit of feta. I have to watch that I don't get tired of chicken since I eat that soooo often as it is. Unless I use points for bread, I need to think of more lunch ideas with protein. Not a big egg person so that eliminates an easy way to get some protein.

I can see myself using quite a bit of whole wheat couscous. TJ's better stock up.

Do you have a go to lunch?

Thanks,

Angelina

My typical lunch would make my WW leader smack me a few times...it is mostly a grande soy latte from Starbucks (Core!). :D

However, when I am not being insane, I like to have a vegetable soup, maybe with beans and such, or a salad with some tofu in it for protein. Lentil soup is very good and very filling too!

I am a vegetarian, and I don't drink cow's milk. I get my "dairy" from soy milk or almond milk...hmmm...not sure if almond milk is Core or not, but it sure should be!

My typical day goes something like this:

Breakfast - shredded wheat with fruit and soy milk, tea OR oatmeal with fruit and soymilk (I like McCann's quick cooking oatmeal, and add cinnamon or whatever to it. I really can not stomach the instant flavored stuff)

Lunch - the infamous grande soy latte OR a salad with greens, tofu, beans, tomatoes, onions drizzled with balsamic vinegar OR soup OR leftovers from home (I would like to do that more, actually)

Dinner - Pasta or some other grain, with pretty much any veggie or bean under the sun, or soup or whatever is planned for that day. Tonight I made the Mexican Millet from Veganomicon and it is REALLY good.

I don't really do snacks. I am not good with them. If I bring something with me from home, meaning to eat it as an afternoon pick-me-up, it is usually gone within an hour from the time I get to my desk. The vending machine is out of the question. Sometimes at lunch I will use my $4.00 (my employer gives everybody $4.00 to use towards your lunch in the cafeteria) to buy fruit, so I might have that, but they really only have apples (my teeth can not handle apples), pears or oranges (which must be peeled and it gets messy).

Thanks to my job, I really don't have the time to think about being hungry, and I am honestly not...I think. :D And by the time I usually get home, I can only make dinner and there is no time for snacks...

Thanks so much for the info.

I did great for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. With just some fruit as a snack.

Ah, but then, work was stressful and had more than a few chocolate chips. Not just once, but twice.

So, how is this for making sense, I decided to finish off the chips so it wouldn't tempt me tomorrow. Obviously I need to remove foods that are just too tempting and can't eat in moderation.

Back on track tomorrow.....

Thanks again.

No problem...and I do that too. I'd rather remove the offending party right away than to have it drag me down for a few days. ;)

Even on core you do get some points to use for things like chocolate chips...

I like core a lot. I find it works great for a few weeks and then I hit a bad plateau. If I break it up with a week or two on points that gets me back on track. I think that for me my portion sizes on core may get to be larger than I should have to keep losing.
