Thanks for joining us, LakeMartinGal. :D The more, the merrier! (You posted at the end of last week's thread...I decided to continue that thought..)

I just did a full workout with weights and then did a 10 minute trail on the Expresso cycling machine.

Anyone else ready to post to start the week?

We did our 10k volksport walk. What a beautiful day we had on Saturday and a gorgeous walk through the Arboretum. I'm going to yoga class tonight.

I have noticed, this morning, that my shoulders are showing definition and are back where they belong. That may sound strange but working at a desk does terrible things to our bodies. The shoulder muscles pull forward and it's hard to straighten out after years of hunching over the keyboard. This morning I can see the difference. :)

This morning I was wondering when I started doing the full set of the Tibetan Rites and I thought it would be interesting (for me ;)) to see my progress as reported on this thread.

I've been taking a yoga class every other week for a couple of months now and for this session we are learning to do the 5 Tibetan Rites. It's done in the morning, no less than 6 days each week. I'm up to 10 reps each and it takes about 5 minutes total. It seems to help get me going in the mornings. My stomach is sore from doing the upward facing dog and downward facing dog part but I can do it and I am loosening up. Yeah!

Added 2 more reps onto the 5 Tibetan Rites routine, which puts me at 17 reps each morning, this week. I'm finding that I can spin around 17 times with just a little bit of dizziness, so I'm using that as my guide and staying with this count daily for the full week. 21 reps is my goal. I have a couple more weeks to go.

Finally .... I'm at 21 reps, which is my goal, for the 5 Tibetan Rites. I get a little dizzy but not anymore than when I started with 3 reps. I have way more energy because last night I made it long enough to hear the fireworks at midnight and still managed to wake up at my usual time this morning. :D

My doctor says my bp is good. Yeah!!!! I struggle with high bp and although I was not surprised, I was still very happy to hear this news. I really feel that doing the 5 Tibeten Rites have had an impact on my bp. I just feel the calmness and the increase of enegy. My doctor said that she also didn't doubt that the yoga was helping me. There have been many many studies on those that do yoga and the health benefits. :)

The 5 Tibetan Rites are coming along nicely, now that I have hit the max. Some days I need to take a moment to rest during the routine but then I just keep going. It still only takes about 5 minutes. This leaves a few minutes to add some other yoga stretches afterward. I'm really noticing my movements are so much more fluid and I feel really calm. You gotta love the benefits of doing yoga. :D

Well, this morning I was telling my dh that the only thing missing from doing the Tibetan Rites is the lint from my underwear from doing the 4th rite and my double chin!!!! :D OMG!!!!! I have finally seen the difference! It's been slow and steady for sure. I've also noticed my arm and leg muscles are much tighter because of pushing my own weight. One of my first complaints of the season is how sore I get after doing yard work. I am happy to say that this week I've shoveled dirt, worked with a pick to remove sod, lifted pots, and spent alot of time using the lopers to limb up trees. I haven't been sore! :D

Just got back from playing soccer. Yesterday was pruning and digging up a tree to move. We have lots of butterfly bushes, so our major yard work is done in the spring. I was a little bit sore but nothing like I used to get thanks to the Tibetan Rites. This last week, I have actually been in the zone while doing them. I feel smooth and fluid. Not any pain anywhere. For me, with back muscle issues, this has been a fabulous set of exercises to be doing.

I have not been to the gym since Super Bowl Sunday when I did something not great to my back; it took me 20 minutes to put my shoes on after showering adn dressing.

I saw my doctor and have been seeing a physical therapist.
Monday I resume gym activities but slow.

Monday in therapy I ran 15 minutes on the treadmill; run 2 minutes zero incline/ 5.3 mph and then 1 minute walk recovery at 4.0 mph. It fel t great. I am not a runner, although my therapist is an ultra marathoner and ran in an 50 mile race this past weekend.

Monday evening I did the elliptical for 45 minutes at resistance 8, usually I do 12, but I want to take it easy.

Tuesday - 30 minute easy walk in my neighborhood.

Wed. - ran 20 minutes of intervals on the treadmill; 1.96 miles.

It feels great to be back with an exercise routine!!!

I must focus on my core/abs and back all the time.

Anyone else???

Thanks for joining us, LakeMartinGal. :D The more, the merrier! (You posted at the end of last week's thread...I decided to continue that thought..)Thanks! I've been here before, but not recently -- guess I forgot to post. Everyone will probably get bored with my water aerobics on Tuesday and Thursday, and the occasional tennis/bowling time on the wii. Fortunately, when the lake warms up, you will be deluged with reports of my running in the water on the off days!:D

Good going, everyone. I just walked two miles around the neighborhood. I ran out of time to make it to the gym.

70 minutes of aerobics (wet ones!) with hand weights and paddles! Whew! I'm pooped!

Hahaha ... I went to water aerobics when I was pregnant with my dd, many years ago. It was fun and I really enjoyed some of the music they played. I don't think that it matters what we are doing as long as we are dong it. Typing it out here puts it in the forefront of our thinking. Sometimes when we write it out then we can see the consistancy or not. Good for you for finding something that you like and can stick with but don't forget the rest of your muscles and heart. All are equally important and a variety of activites are very good for us.

I don't think that a swim in a cold lake is bad at all and look forward to your posts. Now ... I'd better make that appointment for racquetball with my dd tonight. :)

The next 20 minutes are strength, targeting certain muscle groups, one at a time. Sometimes, there are balance exercises in there, as we are mostly over 50 -- some into their 80's! We begin with warmups for 5 minutes, and end with stretches and breathing... Some think water aerobics is just waving the arms around, but she really WORKS us, and we're all the better for it!:D

I think water aerobics sounds like fun. :D

I did about 35 minutes on the Expresso cycling machine this morning. I found a great trail that had scenery completely in snowy mountains. One incline was at 46 degrees. OUCH!!! It was short but steep. Lots of fun.
