I love fresh berries--specifically raspberries and blackberries. When are they in season?! I live in Maryland and have been going to the farmers market at least once every other week. Am I too late or too early? I've been wanting to make the Blackberry-Lemon Upside Down Cake from (I think) last June's issue and I couldn't find blackberries last year either.
Help! :(

Check out this website... I use it all the time for info on fruits & veggies. (Scroll down to find berries) Hope it helps! :)

Thank you Andrea! That site did answer my question. I had done a couple of vegetable/fruit searches yesterday and I couldn't find peak times on any of those web pages. At least now I know I should be able to still get them--just a matter of finding them!

When and if I make it to the farmer's market here I've noticed that I have to be really early to get raspberries and especially blackberries. Usually within the first hour of them opening. Otherwise they're gone. Strawberries seem to be available longer or else they just have more of them.

Thanks, Tovie. I never thought that I'm just getting there too late. I usually go after work, about 5 pm. I'll have to get up early on the weekend and get there when they open. The other customers better watch out though--I'm a woman on a mission :D
