I open the newpaper this morning to an article that says that Penzeys opened their store on Cary St. on Friday! :D

No advertizing, no notice, no nothing other than a brief blurb in the paper a couple of months ago. I was on their site a few weeks ago looking for an opening date for the Richmond store and didn't see any mention of us as a location anymore. So I figured that the deal had fallen through and was getting a list together to place an on-line order. Glad I never got around to doing so! Can't get there until later in the week... but a girlfriend and I are going to make a real outing of it.

3400 W. Cary St. in Carytown. Article is in Metro Business, pg. 3.

Thanks for the info! I was just looking yesterday for info regarding the Ricmond opening. My sis is relocating there and she wants to me come up to see their new house in the next couple of weeks! I can't wait to visit a Penzeys after all the hype I've heard about it. Your post couldn't have come at a better time!

Ann, you and your sister could easily spend an entire day in Carytown! It consists of many, many blocks of boutiques, a book store, record store, antique shops and vintage clothing stores along w/ many designer type clothing shops. You find a parking spot and then browse up and down both sides of the street. Lots of great (non chain) restaurants and coffee shops for when you need to rest.

It’s an easy exit of off the Powhite coming from any direction.

Thanks for the update. My mom lives in Chesterfield which is apparently about 30 minutes away. We'll definitely have to plan a trip over the next time I'm at her house.

Wanda, another short blurb in either Style or the TD mentioned that one of the main reasons that they considered and chose Richmond was because of the sheer volume of mail orders from this area. Penzey also stated that we had the highest ordering of salt-free blends of any area in the country.

So all you folks out there that want a store... mass ordering could get you results!
