Did anyone else see "Unwrapped" on the Food Network last night? It showed how they made bubble gum. I thought it was interesting since I knew it had to be made of more than just sugar and flavoring.

It's made of rubber! Yes, the same stuff that tires are made of is processed in machines to make bubble gum!

I was rather surprised, and I really thought the show was interesting. They also showed bubble gum ice cream. It's regular ice cream with the addition of the same flavor used in bubble gum. Small pieces of gum are also ground up and mixed in.

The show also made reference to the largest bubble ever blown which was about 2 feet wide!

I would have thought sure that with all those chemicals that are put into foods that one of them would be used. I don't think I'll ever look at bubble gum the same again!

How interesting!!

My favorite ice cream as a kid was a tossup between bubble gum and "superman" (a strange red/blue concoction.)
I'd save the bubble gum till last.
:D
