I posted this on the Supper Club Exchange Board, but it seems no one really goes there, so I'm copying and pasting the post here so everyone can see the reviews...

July Meeting of Chicago Group
Hi All....if any of you still come here to read this.....no one's used this board since we've gone to this new BB format. Oh well, I'm going to post a recap of our meeting anyway. All the recipes came from the July 01 issue.

Mexican Bean Dip - not very spicy (a few said "bland") but I thought it had plenty of flavor, just not much "heat". It was very good nonetheless, and would be easy to spice up if that's what you're after. We gave it a 7, although one person gave it a 10!

Split Pea-Garlic Dip (Skordalia) - excellent. We all loved this, and I thought the kalamata olives made the dish. We gave it a 9.

Curried Couscous with Dried Cranberries - I already reviewed this on the other board, but everyone else loved this too. And Kelli, who made this, even used her own homemade curry powder, which was outstanding. This got ratings from the group of 8-9.

Turkey Chili - This was ok, not bad or gross, but nothing to write home about either. Lacked spices, but any creative cook could fix that easily. I liked the turkey meat instead of the typical ground beef. This got rated 6-7 by the group.

Chipotle-Maple Sweet Potatoes - YUM! Definitely a winner. A really nice change from the typical sweet potato recipes. Just the right amount of chipotle flavor. Only one person was turned off by the texture - didn't like their sweet spuds mashed, but everyone else thought they were great. These got rated 8-9 by the group.

Pineapple-Coconut Gelato - Can you say YUM?!!!!! Man, this was good. She substituted whole fresh pineapple for the pineapple juice, and it was fantastic. We gave this a 10.

Coconut-Apricot Tapioca Pudding - Also a BIG winner! I LOVED this! (I got to take most of the leftovers!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks, Kelli!!) So delicious, and the Apricot topping was fantastic. I will make this one again for sure. This got rated 9-10 by the group.

And as USUAL, we managed some really SCINTILLATING conversation....(the usual bodily functions, plus some other topics I can't even type here!) We laughed ourselves silly. A great time, as ALWAYS!

We all commented too, that with all the dishes we had tonight, it was amazing to us that all but one of them ranked at least an 8 or higher. A great evening foodwise and conversation wise!

I was the one that didn't really care for the texture of the sweet potatoes....but last night (after not being able to sleep due to the coffee at the dinner) I have decided to make this as a twice baked potatoes recipe. I think it will work really well and the texture will be improved for me.
YUMMY!!!!!
