Hi guys!!! Sorry I was MIA last week - chalk it up to last week of school! Then DH and I took off for Philly for our annual DMB (Dave Matthews) concerts. We saw both nights - fantastic as always!!;)

I did Relay for Life the previous weekend - I walked from 6pm to 9am with a couple of breaks in between. I had some hurting legs/feet from that. We had tornado watches on Saturday so they called the event. First time ever.

So anyway school is over and I'm back into my summer routine which is working out in the morning!!!:D I did Burn and Shape today.

Valerie - enjoy your vacation!!

Joanne - we've got the heatwave now - Were you guys affected by the tornado's a couple of days ago. Very nasty.

Tiekitty - welcome!!!! Yes I have coremax. Valerie talked me into it:D and I really like it! My ball isn't working right now so I only do the first workout. But I like that it takes 15 mins approx and I can do the abs when I want to. Good investment.

Stacy - hi!!! How was the last day of school?!!

Gotta run - boys are in the pool and I should be there!!:)

Have a great day!

Hi Charisse,

Ooooh, Dave Mathews! I love him but have never had the opportunity to see him in person.

I was very good about working out last week. I was proud of myself. Saturday I walked a brisk 4 miles (nothing like your relay) while my husband-in-training ran. Today's my "errand day" so I won't work out again until tomorrow AM.

Have fun in the pool!!

Great job TieKitty!!!:)

I have to go get strawberries this morning so am hoping to get in a workout later (I'm being lazy and buying them - not picking!!!) Still HHH - storms expected this afternoon so I tried to get out early and do some gardening before the heat kicked in.

Happy Birthday Michelle!!!!! I hope your mom is doing ok and you are well. Check in when you can!:)

Hi, all!! I hope to be around a little more this week.

Charisse - Great job on the workouts! I love being able to workout in the mornings....well, after 8am. It feels totally different than my usual 5am! The last day of school was great! So glad we're done. I always think that we'll have some much more time over the summer but that never seems to happen. Doesn't look like it will be that way this year, either. I hope you enjoy your time off. I would love that! Relay for Life sounds tough -- but I'll bet it's so rewarding.

TieKitty - Congrats on your exercise last week. It's always hard to fit the exercise in and it's especially nice to have a stellar week!!

I did Total Body Weights from 4DS on Saturday -- a two-hour workout!!! Needless to say, I didn't do anything on Sunday. Today was Slow & Heavy Chest & Back. First time for that one. I've heard some say that they think these workouts are boring but it was okay for me. The slow makes it harder. I'm a little concerned that my heart rate didn't get up there like it does with most Cathe weight workouts but I'm just going to play it by ear.

Happy Tuesday!

Hi Charisse, good to see you back on the thread! Sounds like a great weekend in Philly! Great job on the walk. You must have really crashed after that. Up walking all night! Yea, a few tornados touched down pretty close to us. We spent alot of time in the basement this weekend! No damage to our area, though. Pretty scary storms. They did seem to push out some of the heat, though. Yesterday was cool and today is only supposed to be 80.

TieKitty, great job on the workouts! :)

Stacy, I'm usually working out around 5:30 am. It's tough, but I think I've gotten used to it. Wow. all the weight work from 4DS?? I did all the upper body from it last week and it was probably one of the hardest weight workouts I've done. I've done Slow and Heavy a couple times. I'll usually fold laundry in between the sets to pass the time!

Sunday I ran a 5K. It was pretty cool - it went through my neighborhood - just a block from my house and past my parent's house. DH and the kids (and dog, of course) all came out and cheered me on. And, I needed it! It was hot, but not as bad as I thought it would be. I did it in 33 minutes - not great, but OK. I actually placed 10th in my age group (out of 45).

Monday I did Pyramid Upper Body (Cathe's) and both step sections from the 4DS series. I really enjoyed the step. This morning I did Tracey's Staehle's new Strike Zone. It was fun. I'm not sure what tomorrow is - I have to look at the rotation I'm following on Cathe's site.

Michelle - HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope you are doing well.

I'm back from vacation. trying to get up some enthusiasm for working out this morning. we did two hikes and quite a variety of mountain bike trails. we're just learning and there is a steep learning curve ( a few were too hard, one too easy) but it's great exercise and a lot of fun.
we came back tuesday morning expecting to do another hike close to home Wed but the weather pi$$ed out totally. we got snowed on monday nite/tuesday morning and drove thru mucho slush on the pass coming home. snowplows were out! we are not having a good summer so far. :( it is cold and wet and there's so much snow left we can barely hike anywhere and the forecast is for more of the same. It's time for out local strawberries but everything is weeks behind schedule. Our own garden is pathetic so far.

we scared up a black bear on our first bike ride but he ran off as all good bears do. still a surprise. we went to the east side of the state and had reasonably good weather there. the riding is rocky but dryer rather than major mud on the west side, and more rolling terrain rather than too steep.

Sounds like everyone has been sticking to program. Good for you, tiekitty. Keep it up.
charisse, that must have been tough walking all night.I can't imagine doing that and being worth anything the next day.
charisse & joanne, I hate tornados & tornado weather. I used to get so stressed out I moved away from the midwest in some part to get away from the threat. even as an adult it worried me so much I could not cope. and...this year has been pretty awful. not only the tornados but the flooding.
Wow stacy , 2 hours on S&H. I don't like weights that much! Definitely would need a day off after.

Yesterday I did BSS3 with Stephanie - cardio and weight work.... Today I did Stepkickboxing - very very sweaty. It still amazes me how quickly I can get out of shape when I don't follow my "normal" workout routine. I was ahuffin and apuffin!!

Joanne - Great job on your 5K!! Especially b/c I know it had to be hot! And I agree with Valerie - I don't do tornado's. My grandparents lived in Iowa and we spent many summers in the basement - totally Wizard of Oz scenes. I really like Pa:o

Stacy - Wow you sound like Michelle doing those 2 hour workouts! Yee haw for school being out - do you have plans for your kids?

Valerie - With the heat wave we just went through it's still hard to imagine snow plows this time of the year!!! Glad you had a good time - Bear and all!!

I just made 5 strawberry and rhubarb pies with my 9 quarts of strawberries. We're just about ending our season - boy were they good!! Ruby red and sweet!!

We're enjoying the cooler weather - getting into our summer routine.

Have a great Thursday!

When I was a teen I had an awful night babysitting for cousins children plus the two children downstairs in an apartment building. there were tornados touching down all over the place and I couldn't find the key to the basement ( they apparently kept it locked to keep the kids from getting into trouble down there )or a flashlight and the power kept going out. I was looking for a map so I could see how close the danger was but couldn't find that either. It was horrible. I had to live in Milwaukee a few more years but left in my early 20's and never looked back. Then I got a job with a company based in Indiana and had to go back regularly for training etc. so I still didn't totally get away from the tornado threat. Washington state is pretty safe from that threat. we do need to worry about earthquakes though.
Joanne, how hot was it for your 5K? was it early enough to beat the worst of the heat? Congrats on nplacing in the top 10!
charisse, I envy those strawberries. Love them! Our rhubarb is growing so well this year it looks like rain forest , but the strawberries are drowning. (we don't grow them ourselves cause the deer love them and never leave us any) we have an official Strawberry Festival in mid June but the berries are small & green so festival, but no berries!

Got in 30 treadmill and 30 elliptical yesterday but that was all I had time for. today I will do 30 treadmill and Muscle Max I think.

Oh Valerie that sounds horrible!!! And yea for the rhubarb. I'm trying to grow some but it only puts out one stalk... Not very productive!

I watered this am for 2 hours (my neighbors are away so I'm doing their plants as well) and then mowed the yard. With the pool our grass area is soooo much smaller!

It's really hot again today - I may stay inside (the boys are in the pool!) watch golf and pick up an old knitting project:) It's Friday right?! Homemade pizza night - woo hoo!

No special weekend plans - we're going out to eat tomorrow eve to an italian restaurant with the boys. Sunday all DH wants to do is sit by the pool ;) and I'm making Fall off the bone baby back ribs.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!:)

Charisse, sounds like a great eating weekend! :) mmm, homemade pizza, Italian, bbq ribs...yum!!

Valerie, that's a scary experience! I do get a bit spooked, but try to act pretty nonchalant during the warnings so the kids don't freak out. Your vacation sounds great, and very active! Hope your weather improves soon. We'd be willing to send some heat your way!

Today I did Butts & Guts and an itread on the treadmill.

Have a great weekend all!

Joanne -- AWESOME work with your 5K!! I'm totally in awe of those that can do that!! I think I've mentioned before that my DH runs and while I *like* the idea of running, I'm not really a runner. I just don't have the stamina for it. I can say that my Cathe workouts are helping me, though. I can see improvement when I try to run....I just still stink at it.

I really do like the weight work in 4DS. Actually, I really like the whole thing except I'm still not so sure about the boot camp workout. All in all, a great bang for the buck. I did the all weight workout as I had a little extra time and I don't have that many total body workouts so this was a good choice. I'd do it again if I had the time!

I did KPC on Wednesday and took off on Thursday. My lower back was a little sore -- I think from the Slow & Heavy Back & Chest on Tuesday. Today I did Slow & Heavy Legs & Shoulders.

Valerie -- Sounds like another great vacation! Mountain biking sounds like fun! I can't imagine snow this time of year.....we're approaching 100-degree temperatures! We've had a couple of storm scares this year where we actually got in the closets (no basements here) but nothing like what happened to you. That would have been scary!

Charisse - Your weekend sounds fabulous! DS is all set for the summer. Our school district has a wonderful summer program that he's participating in. They offer all kinds of great classes -- he just completed an on-lin photo editing class that he really enjoyed. They also have swimming, go on field trips, etc. Nothing like what I had as a kid!!

I saw the podiatrist this morning as I've been having a little trouble with the toes on my right foot and both of my ankles. She's put me in some orthotics -- OTC to start with. She said it's exercise endused -- related to twisting, squats, & lunges. The orthotics should help keep my toes flat and keep the bones from rubbing together in my ankles. I'm wearing them now...the right foot feel pretty comfortable; the left foot feels like there's a big marble in my shoe!! Hopefully, I'll get used to them.

I still have a couple of more workouts planned but in case I'm not back, have a great weekend, everyone!! Happy Father's Day to all the Fathers out there!

Stacy, the boot camp workout from 4DS is not a favorite of mine either. I've only done it once or twice. How's the orthotics working out? I worry about the strain on my body doing this stuff, but so far I'm OK. I do get some pains in my feet every once in awhile and it's OK if I back off the high impact stuff for awhile.

We went out of town for the weekend, so no workouts till this morning. I did the BodyMax2 upper body twice premix. I was dreading it, but it's in the rotation I'm doing, so I plugged ahead. It was actually fun and not as bad as I thought! Tomorrow is supposed to be 4DS kickbox and boot camp cardio, but I'm going to substitute some other cardio, I think.

Hope you all had a great weekend!
