I logged onto AOL this morning and the above link was interesting. How much of the article is just "fill up the space" news or are there some facts there? I try to make sure meals and of course the munchies we consume are as healthy as possible with an occasional slip here and there. i.e., I broke down yesterday, we are on vacation right now at Hilton Head, and in addition to the Optimum cereal and yogurt (I use in place of milk) I got a box of Golden Grahams which has not been purchased for a multitude of years. But all the things listed in the above link, which you might have to copy and paste, are things I have avoided. Any opinions?

I think this is one of those cases where who you are will help determine what is healthy for you. A type-2 diabetic would definitely be better off eating pork skins and beef jerky than Golden Grahams and Twinkies. For my DH though, who is controlling his MS with medication and a low-saturated fat diet, the things mentioned in this article would be detrimental. And always the question is what does the total diet look like? If you eat a lot of fish, vegetables, whole grains then coconut would be a healthy addition. But if you pile the coconut (or coconut oil) on top of the typical unhealthy American diet then it's not going to do you any good. Along with that, the key here is moderation. In typical American fashion, people will read this article and start snacking on pork skins all day when what they should really be doing is eating a salad with lots of veggies and nuts and a dressing made olive oil.

Pork skins may not be the worst thing you could be eating, but it's certainly not the best, either.
