Looking to form Atlanta supper club

I've seen that there are a few local Atlanta clubs, but since they are already going, is anyone interested in forming another? I'm in my early 30s and love to cook and love wine!

I am pretty flexible on where I can drive to others' houses- I live in Gwinnett. I also have one other person who has said she'd be interested who lives in the city.

Let me know and we can set up an initial meeting!

I was thinking that as a group we could come up with how we wanted to structure the group.

My initial thought was to plan to rotate houses and everyone comes with a dish. Set a standard time to meet (e.e.g, 2nd Sat) so people can schedule.

I'm open to thoughts. I'll keep track of responses and coordinate!

I'd love to hook up with some people who enjoy cooking and eating healthily, drinking wine and good conversation. I live in Virginia-Highlands, but willing to travel. I think your idea to get together sometime to organize is a good one. I'd be interested in gathering after work hours, rather than weekends. But, I can coordinate anything with enough advance notice.

Here's the status- so far I've gotten 5 different people who have expressed interest. Let's see if we can get more interest in the next couple weeks and plan to meet after work one day to discuss specifics.

So, there seems to be a lot of interest in forming a cooking club! This is great!

I figure let's plan to meet at a restaurant after everyone gets settled from Labor Day. It looks like we have a lot of interest- enough for more than one group. Everyone should come prepared with their thoughts on how they would like it organized.

Any thoughts on location? From the messages I've gotten, it looks like we are spread out all over. Something casual, where they can take a large group without a reservation. Probably somewhere in town.

My first thoughts were Fellinis on Peachtree, On the Border off the Buckhead Loop, Tavern at Phipps.

Any thoughts? Does this date work for everyone? We can then post a definite message inviting all who are interested to attend.

I live in N Fulton Co (Dunwoody/Roswell) but am willing to drive also. I'm in my early 30's and am always looking to meet wine lovers and folks interested in cooking as much as I am.

Sept 11 works for me as does meeting somewhere in Buckhead. Fellini's is a personal favorite but I love to try new places so I'm game for anything.

I think some place that might take reservations would be a good idea, if we can get a head count on how many folks might be attending. I think On the Border takes reservations. I know Cheesecake Factory does - the reservations have to be made by 6 but they will go ahead and seat a majority.

Another idea might be to meet somewhere around Lennox Mall or Perimeter Mall - it would be about halfway for folks coming from downtown as well as those coming from Duluth and Alpharetta.

I am certainly not opposed to no spouses/so's, but if is it Saturday evenings once a month I would prefer to do a couples thing (I know I am a big baby, but my social time with my hubby is limited during the week!)

I had planned to join the supper club on my own, maybe inviting my guy sometime later in the game. I have no problem with others coming with their significant others, though. :)

To your point, Sherri, I'm available during the week much more than on the weekend. I travel a bit on weekends, so odds are I wouldn't be available for many suppers clubs gatherings at those times. That's not anyone else's problem though, so I guess we can find out who prefers weekends or weeknights at our meeting, and go from there.

We have a big group of people (11, I think) who have expressed interest, so I think we may have the ability to set up more than one group, perhaps by couple or by time of the week.

So, is everyone okay with On the Border near Phipps on the 11th. Open to other ideas in that area too- but somewhere that takes a reservation.

I am partial to weekends (Saturday nights in particular) but might be able to accomodate a weekday. I like the idea of alternating houses and each person/couple bringing a dish.

This sounds like a great idea. I am single and 30 and live inside the perimeter but like others am willing to travel. I think weekends are best especially if we are travelling.

We can meet and talk about some of the issues and then update the group and plan another, full group meeting.

A subset of us met last night to discuss forming a supper club.

As it turns out, we all were on the same page as to how we wanted to structure the club, including when to have it, whether to include spouses, etc. We also agreed that 7 people is the max for us and we'll be going with the people who met last night.

Don't despair- I still have a list of 11 other people who expressed interest in the club but were not able to make it last night. I would be happy to email the addresses/names to whoever wants to coordinate the formation of another group. We ended up with a weekend group without spouses, but there were definitely others who expressed interest in weeknights and including spouses.
