I'm like a kid at Christmas; I placed a Penzey's order on Monday with "regular" delivery. How prompt are they with delivery? I can't wait to get my order. It will be so much fun to try all those new spices.:D

Jazzcat- I'm in PA, and when I place orders, I typically get them about 5 working days after I order them. I would bet you'll get yours by Monday.

The first time I ordered, I did so 2nd Day UPS air (then we had to go out of town for a funeral and they arrived while I was away). The second time I ordered, I did so by the second cheapest method (not sure the name, but it was by mail) and they came on the 3rd day!!! No use paying UPS. I order via internet both times. It is exciting!

I just ordered for the first time today and I did it the old fashioned way because I didn't want to rack up my credit card. I sent in a check! Remember those? And I ordered it slow mail which they said could take between 7 - 10 days. I was too cheap to spend the extra dollar. I'll be interested to see when I get it. We have a store near us, about 1/2 hour away and I may venture out there if I really like their spices. Incidentally, is there sales tax on spices? If that's the case I'd be better off mail ordering.

BTW Jazzcat what did you order? I was inspired by a previous post and I had just received their catalog. I ordered basil, tellicherry peppercorns, whole leaf rosemary, Cassia cinnamon, hungarian paprika, thyme, double strength vanilla and the salad sampler pack. You can't beat the prices. And you know its going to be fresh.

I placed an order on-line last Saturday and have not yet received it. I did choose snail mail because I too was to cheap to pay the extra buck. Oh well! When it gets here I know I will enjoy opening it. Can't remember everything I ordered, but I did order the Greek seasoning, double strength vanilla and a few things, like cumin, I'm really low on. Forgot to add this is my first time!

Thanks everyone for all your input. Maybe I'll get my order today. I ordered lots of things ginger, cinnamon, double vanilla, basil, parsley, those extra special peppercorns, adobo seasoning, the greek seasoning, curry, bay leaves, cocoa, dill, garlic, italian herb mix, oregano, nutmeg, paprika ,some empty jars and I think that's it. Basically I was replacing things. I forgot the cumin though! I think these will keep me busy for quite a while.

I placed my order on Monday or Tuesday. I can't wait for it to get here. I was feeling extravagant and paid the extra $1 for UPS. I took my highlighter to the catalog and set a budget of $30. I got cumin, corriander, chili powder, rosemary, basil, 2 types of oregano, and a selection of curries. I will get the double strength vanilla on my next order.

Thought I'd have my Penzey's order by today. I called and they said they shipped it out last Thursday. Maybe tomorrow if not later this eve but I guess that's wishful thinking.

I got my Penzeys order today!!!!

My order was processed last Tuesday, so I got it in one week.

Let me just say, do you have any idea how big a 4 oz bag of basil is???? It is a bargain at only $5.39 - the price you pay for one of the bottles in the spice aisle at the grocery store. I can fill the entire neighborhood's jars of basil with this baby. 4 ounces doesn't seem like that much when you see it listed in the catalog as...
4 oz. bag........#30146.........$5.39 I think I have 3 to 4 CUPS of basil now. :D

I am already marking the catalog for my second order. :D

Robin, I can only imagine the size. Considering a plastic jar of basil is only .65oz. I started slowly and got the 1 oz size but since I use basil all the time I'll probably get the 4 oz next time. I have a wait because I ordered them last Friday via slow mail. Hopefully I'll get them early next week.

I got my first order yesterday, and I ordered it on July 20th, via regular shipping. So it took about 10 days.

Most of the spices I ordered were 4 oz bags. I also ordered 4 oz empty jars. There is at least 1 extra oz in the bag. So, I think the bag is a better value. BTW, 4 oz. is absolutely huge.

I ordered:

58456 15 Vanilla Bean Madagascar 1 @ 25.49
57941 Sesame Black Indian 4oz bag 1 @ 2.29
30146 Basil California 4oz bag 1 @ 5.39
30362 Bay Leaf Whole 1oz bag 1 @ 2.79
44655 Ginger Powdered China 1.9oz jar 1 @ 2.99
14748 Pickling Spice Premium 4oz bag 1 @ 2.89
56281 Peppercorns White 8oz bag 1 @ 5.99
