I just had to share this with people who can understand. I went into the market last week and as I was preparing to pick up our usual bag of "WOW" Doritos...there were none! Figured they were just sold out so stopped at a nearby market and...none! I had hoped it was just a coincidence but I just came from the market again and they have nothing but the Baked Lays. My girlfriend, who lives in the next town over, says there are none there either! My DBF is upset too because he took them everyday for lunch! GRRR! Just had to vent. We bought some of the kettle crisps and I must admit they are very good, but we miss our WOW chips. I will be calling their customer service line during the week to find out what happened. Even WalMart, who usually has them, didn't! Why do they make us like something then take it away? Oh Bother!

marshalynne, I know exactly what you're feeling! I'm in the Seattle area, and I noticed about 2 or 3 months ago that I wasn't able to get WOW chips anymore. I found the WOW Ruffles (original flavor only) at Albertsons last week, but that's it. I especially miss the WOW Tortilla chips! They were my favorite snack with my spicy salsa and CL's Roasted Red Pepper & Bean Dip. I just can't make myself eat regular tortilla chips again! Too much fat! I miss my salsa and bean dip though! I can't even find the Baked Tostitos anymore.
If you contact the company I'd love to hear your report here on the BB. All I can think of is that maybe Olestra is getting some bad press somewhere. SandyM in Michigan told me she can still get them there, so maybe it's just a regional thing. I don't eat them daily or even weekly, but it's sure nice to have them around when I'm having a salsa and bean dip craving! :(

I''m pretty sure I've gotten Baked Tostitos in the past few months. However, I won't eat anything with olestra in it.
If they are discontinuing either of these things though, it's part of a continuing pattern that I've noticed....low calorie, low fat, or healthy products often just don't survive, and then Americans wonder why so many people are overweight. Can anyone say "supersize"?
Guiltless Gourmet makes good tortilla chips.

Thanks BlueMoose, I used to eat the Guiltless Gourmet, but once you've gotten used to the real crunch and flavor of the WOW, it's hard to go back. Sure, I saw the disclaimer on the side of the bag that said it could produce "abdominal cramps and loose stool" (Tasty thought, huh??) but I never had a problem with them.
They also used to make a fat substitute back in the early 90's called 'Simplesse'. It was in several ice creams and frozen yogurts, and it was absolutely wonderful. Made fatfree ice cream taste like Ben & Jerry's! Suddenly that went off the market too. Why do they tease us so??
I can no longer find my Healthy Choice Garlic & Herb Cream Cheese, my Healthy Choice Lowfat String Cheese, and I can rarely find my Healthy Choice Alfredo Sauce in a jar. OK, I admit to liking lowfat jarred cheese goo, but it's so good when you don't feel like making the CL Alfredo!! I emailed Healthy Choice and they told me that they had not discontinued those products, and would get the 'local sales rep' to research the stores in my area and tell me where to go to get the cream cheese and the string cheese. Two weeks later I got a letter in the mail saying that they were not available in my area after all, but gave me 2 50 cent off coupons for Healthy Choice cereal...like that was gonna do it?? I give up...I try to search out alternatives and then they slap me down. Have they no scruples???

Thanks for the support guys. Neither of us ever had any problems with the Olestra either. I have tried the Guiltless Gourmet Chips but like Jewel said "It's hard to go back!". I have to say that I think they are trying to promote the Baked Lays in this area as they are what is filling the space the WOW chips used to be in. I have had them as well but they just aren't the same. Jewel, I don't know if your region carries them but Polly O makes a GREAT light string cheese. Blue Moose...you are exactly right. They want everyone to get healthy yet keep taking away the things that make getting there bearable. Jewel- If the company contacts me I will post it here. Thanks everyone! I knew you guys would understand!
