I've just started working for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and have learned so much more about the Team In Training program. I was wondering if anyone here has participated before. For those of you who don't know, Team In Training provides training to people running in marathons, half-marathons, riding in century (100-mile) bike rides or competing in triathlons. Participants get sponsors to support their race and the proceeds are donated to LLS. It seems like such an amazing program. I wish I had the stamina to do it!

I'm not doing it myself but don't discount yourself! A year ago I didn't think I could do something like that but just this weekend I did 40 miles on a mountain bike (so much tougher than a road bike) and if I get a road bike plan on doing a century next year. And I'm scheduled for a duathlon in three weeks. I'd do a tri if my foot would let me. The biggest lesson I've learned in the last month is I thought my body had limits. And it does, they're just MUCH MUCH higher than I thought previously. I can do these things! And so can you! :D

Haven't done an event for them but I used to be a volunteer with the organization. Great cause and I know many people who loved being part of TnT. You get lots of coaching and support - at least you did when I was involved with it, and I'd be very surprised if that has changed - so please don't doubt your ability to do it!
Keep us posted if you do decide to embark on the adventure! :)

I haven't worked with TnT personally but one of my long-time running/walking compatriots is a pacer and sweeper for TnT in Virginia Beach. I would echo everything that Natasha and Robyn have said. Please keep us informes about your endeavour.
Peace,
Les

That's awesome! I did the NYC 5-boro bike tour this past May. It was incredible! They closed down the streets in NY and 30,000 bikers had the whole road to themselves. It was amazing going over bridges and through tunnels and Central Park. And I've lived in NY my whole life! It's a 42 mile ride from the southern tip of Manhattan up to the Bronx, into queens, brooklyn and then Staten Island (where they feed you, yey!). the furthest I had ridden prior to that was about 15 miles... I didn't think I could do it. But, I was ok until about 30 miles in.

Ooh.. and kind of a perfect segway (and I promise I didn't plan this)... Time to marry two of my favorite groups, CL and TNT! I was monitoring the TNT community boards and just came across this post:
"GOT ANY GOOD RECIPES?!?!?!
I NEED YOUR HELP!!
I am creating a cookbook to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society while training for the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco in October.
Please help make this a success by sending in your recipes. I need them _ALL_! Please put your Name, City and State with recipes.
Please post your recipes by July 13.
If you have any questions, please let me know!"
Who better than you guys to help her out? Would any of you lovely, talented, beautiful people (is that enough buttering-up?) mind posting some of your favorite recipes to the TNT community -- or linking to the posts on CL at the TNT boards.. Or, post them here, and I'll copy (and credit you) to TNT? Many thanks!
Here's the link http://community.lls.org/thread/1290
