Grapes are great because they take a long time to eat so I feel like I've really had a snack. I like Quaker chocolate chip chewy granola bars (only 120 calories); yogurt is good too, and not high in calories as long as you buy the small ones.

How about a little popcorn or a soft pretzel. I also find drinking something will help - has to be something interesting though, like lemonade.

this may sound really bizarre, but if i know dinner is still a ways off but i'm hungry, i often open a can of vegetables, usually green beans. i usually don't even heat them up, just eat them straight out of the can. <wow, in reading this even i think i'm strange> a whole can of green beans only has about 70 calories, but i find that it fills me up for a while.

OK - When I'm hungry, but know I'm not having dinner for an hour or 2 - I have to snack. Any easy ideas that will be satisfying enough to keep from eating essentially a whole meal? I do carrot sticks & fruit - but that's so boring. & I don't want to eat anything too filling if I'm having dinner shortly. Any ideas appreciated.
(This is usually needed between lunch & dinner if we're going out or meeting friends.)

I find that when I'm hungry before dinner a spoon or two of cottage cheese will do the trick for me -- the little bit of protein really gives me a boost.

Bananas are also a good bet for me.

I actually snack on nuts- almonds and cashews are my favorites. Yes, I know, they have a bad reputation, but just a few will fill you up. Also, nuts are finally getting the praise they deserve since they contain the "good" fats that our bodies need. I try to opt for low fat or no fat snacks, but because there is no fat in them, they don't give me any kind of satisfaction. Also, I have been known to snack on a peice or two of cheese, especially the low fat string cheese. I don't think it has that many calories, either.
