I am almost vegetarian. I still eat fish and chicken once in a blue moon.

I have couple recipe books:

Mollie Katzen: The New Enchanted Broccoli Forest
and
Ginny Callan: Beyond the Moon Cookbook.

Now I would love to be able to browse on good to excellent vegetarian sites.

Any good suggestions???

Also, any good vegetarian books ideas???

Thanks and have a superb day,

Helene,

In terms of cookbook ideas: I LOVE my Moosewood Restaurant Low-Fat Favorites. Cooking Light also has a Low-Fat Ways to Cook Vegetarian. I just made the Roasted Red Pepper and Garlic Quiche from it on Friday for a staff meeting, and it was a big hit.

Hi, Helene - Some of my favorite vegetarian sites are:
Vegetarian About.com http://vegetarian.about.com
Veggies Unite! www.vegweb.com
Nava Atlas' Vegetarian Kitchen www.vegkitchen.com
Vegetarian Recipes Around the World www.ivu.org/recipes/index.html

As for books, I highly recommend anything by the following authors:
Jay Solomon
Nava Atlas
Barb Bloomfield
Claire Criscuolo
Bobbie Hinman
Also try Carole Raymond's Student's Vegetarian Cookbook, which has lots of quick and cheap -- but very flavorful -- recipes, as well as ideas on how to "wing it."

If that's not enough :p, I'll post some more!

Cheers,
Phoebe

While this isn't a vegetarian website per se, it does have a huge, searchable database of recipes, with tons of vegetarian choices.

For books, I second Phoebe's nominations and I'll add two. I love Deborah Madison's Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone (huge book but thorough and pleasant to cook from) and Jack Bishop's books (Pasta e Verdura and Vegetables Every Day among others).

Thanks for the replies.

I will start browsing.

I like the new ideas for cookbooks. I am always looking to buy new ones.

Have a good day,

I check out the message boards at www.vegsource.com every day. There are board for both vegatarians and vegans.
