View Full Version : What's cooking? Week of Jul 20/08
07-20-2008, 06:31 PM
I decided that I better make a plan this week, as my eating habits have been somewhat sketchy the past couple of weeks. So, I went to the farmers' market and then planned my meals around some of the things I brought home with me. This is the plan:
Pork Tacos with Corn-Jicama Salsa and Guacamole – CL Jun 08
Curry-and-Yogurt Braised Chicken Thighs – F&W Aug 08
Salade Nicoise with Roasted Beets, New Potatoes, and Dijon Vinaigrette – Rebar
Beer and Brown Sugar Marinated Steak – CLBB SheRa
Steamed/grilled new potatoes
Grilled corn on the cob
Making 4-5 course dinner for my parents, but menu still undecided…

You're so organized!
Tonight I made CI's Wood-Smoke Pork Chops (I think that's what they're called...), long purple beans (a what-the-heck from the farmer's market), and whipped sweet potatoes. The sweet potatoes are a standard recipe, the pork chops got a rave review from DH, and our consensus on the beans was "Well, now we've tried purple beans. No need to do that again."
Monday night - I'm going to ask DH to cook. He has a lull right now work-wise and can take it on.
Tuesday night -DH has a meeting. I'll make the pasta w/sauteed mushrooms & cheese that he hates.
Wednesday night - CL's Grouper Pistou. Probably sliced tomatoes on the side.
Thursday - probably WW's Garlic Stirfry w/chicken, carrots, broccoli, green beans over brown rice.

oceanjasper, that Nicoise salad sounds awesome.
i am trying to make up a standardized week's menu to follow, on a trial basis as it were for the month, and see it that helps reduce waste, starvation and junk consumption!
within the framework, there'll be alot of freedom; i just find i can't afford to plan a menu till after i've seen what's at the market.
Mondays-- family potluck night (bringing a vegetable filled sourdough cornbread dotted with cream cheese)
Tuesdays--burritos/tacos night (black bean and zucchini burritos)
Wednesdays-- casserole night
Thursdays-- pizza or pasta night
Fridays-- soups/stew night
Saturday-- sandwich night
Sundays-- free choice!
i figure, set nights worked for Marge Simpson, they'll work for me.
