Well, I think that summer is finally upon us - at least in the middle-Atlantic states, it was almost 100 in DC today, before noon. It has been pretty warm for those of us from cooler climes so I can only imagine what the regulars from Texas might be bearing (of course they might not be there too). Things finally got settled a little around here if that ever happens. Still, summer is in full swing and vacations etc. are going full tilt. So, in an attempt to catch up with what happened in the last thread I’ll try swing a recap of the last two weeks (or so):
Life successes/Good News include - Kate dropped by with a note that she was headed to Seattle for a little vacation with DBF - much needed and well earned with all the other junk going on in their lives; jjsooner joined the fracas and was helpful when the rest of the regulars were on vacation and now she’s vacationing too - we hope she comes back renewed and refreshed; Karen vacationed with DH sans kids and had a blast on Martha’s Vineyard, getting ready to get one kiddo back soon (I think), getting her workouts in and contemplating a new workout routine once her membership with the kickboxing studio is up; and I survived a week on call, I had a great race yesterday, and I can’t believe that my internship is three weeks from being done.
Stressful living - Kate escaped for a vacation which we hope will reduce her stress a little; Karen has had little to stress over with her knee mostly better, the house getting cleaned up without the kids there, and her kids doing well; and I am still struggling to get regular exercise in but the hours at the hospital don’t always make that easy.
Workouts: Are still going hit and miss for me - a couple runs and a couple rides a week probably won’t change in the coming weeks but I need to do more or revise my plan for the upcoming race (end of August).
Healthful living: Sleeping well most of the time and not letting the emotional things at the hospital get to me, really things are really going well especially with my tooth being fixed and my health is looking up.
I had a great race yesterday even though I ended up running more than the scheduled 5 miles (the course wasn’t well marked in one section). I rode this afternoon which has kind of become my M. O. this summer but will probably change in the fall with the next internship starting (and that happens on Sundays). I think that’s all I remember and all I have time for - I need to read a little bit more before I get ready for bed so I’ll sign off and say until later - be good to yourselves, stay dry, hydrated, and have a good week.
Peace to all,
Les

Quick Sunday drive by as we just returned from visiting the kids at camp and DH and I are exhausted. Les, NOPE. . . no kids coming home now. All three are staying for two sessions(8wks) this summer and that was the plan from the beginning. And based on what DH and I saw today they did not miss us a whole lot and are happy to be staying for the next session. I'm glad as well. . . that they are well adjusted kids and having a great time!:) We all had a lovely visit and a nice picnic, but it was very warm and humid today and I just don't do well in this kind of weather. Needless to say I came home pooped and with a headache from all of the heat, humidity, and excitement. DH and I grabbed some dinner and ice cream on the way home and I think that helped me a bit. . . at least the headache has gone, but tonight I need to turn in early. So on that note, I hope everyone has a great week.
BTW, Les, congratulations on your race this weekend.

Hey Karen, I'm glad that I was wrong. I knew the boys were gone for the whole summer but didn't remember about DD. I quess I should have known. ;) Not surprising that they aren't missing you either. I hope your headache went away and that you aren't suffering from separation stress. Maybe a good swim this morning did the trick for you.
I had all kinds of good intentions to leave the hospital at 5:00 tonight but that was all derailed (for a good reason). Suffice to say it was 7:30 before I got home so there was no run - lots of excuses so I won't share them. Tomorrow's another day and I hope that I can do something at a reasonable hour.
Take care all and be good to yourselves.
Peace,
Les

Les-No excuses needed. You are over seeing a busy ship this summer!;)
And I do think I had a bit of "mommy separation anxiety" on Sunday, but mainly because I got the reaction that I expected from the boys but not at all from DD. I'm just glad she's having a great time, though. She will be turning 9 y.o. soon, too(Aug. 3) so we will be able to call her that day. Headache did finally go away after 2 rounds of tylenol, some dinner, and some air conditioning. I just don't do well with humidity.:(
Today was an excellent swim and a very good boxing class. The instructor only had us do 500 straight punches on the bag, followed by 500 pulsatile push-ups, and finally 500 pulsing crunches at the end of class today!!! I guess he was in a "nice" mood today!!;) But it was a good class! Killed some time this afternoon at the mall since I had an errand to do out in that direction. No major purchases unless you count a bottle of shampoo and conditioner.
Tomorrow I am planning on swimming and likely running(treadmill). In the afternoon I have my yearly "peek up where the sun does not shine" gyn. appt. Oh how I dread that each year. Anyway, I'll be glad to get it over with for another year.
Have a good evening,
Karen

Thanks Karen, I needed that reassurance today. I'm sorry your DD is growing up but it sounds like you're taking it well, or as well as can be expected. It sounds like your therapy session this morning did a lot for you. I also hope that tomorrow's check up is normal and you can get back to your day-to-day routine. I guess you're happy that you don't live someplace like here if you don't like humidity.
I'd love to chat but I don't really feel like it, hard to explain and even if I could I probably can't write it here. To sleep, perchance to dream.
Be good to yourselves and tell your loved ones that you love them.
Peace,
Les

Les--I agree w/ Karen. No excuses needed. Sometimes life seems to get in the way of other things-I know how that is. What is in store for you once your internship ends?
Karen--I'm impressed with your workout regimen. It makes me tired reading it. How old are your DSes? I hope all goes well with your exam--I always tell myself that it's no big deal as it's over in like 2 minutes. :)
Well, I haven't checked back in because I haven't done anything since before my last camp. I fell on my tush while there while walking down the pool steps. It HURT. I think it's just bruised. I landed hard and bounced to the next step. I was holding my camper's hand and never let go of it anywa. I managed to make it through camp, but the day after I got home it was worse. It's getting better now, but getting up hurts and when I sit on it a certain way. Biking is definitely out, and I just haven't made it to the gym for the elliptical.
I am packing/cleaning/preparing to head to Texas for a camp for children with or in remission from cancer. It's going to be HOT! I am leaving on Thursday, visiting friends on Thurs/Fri, make-up orientation Friday night, stay with another friend, and then head to camp on Saturday. I'll return back to OK on Friday late afternoon. I"ll probably rest/recuperate on the weekend and then hit the gym the next Monday. Time is running out before school starts.
On an exciting note, I did get a call today regarding the interview I had almost 2 weeks ago. They are checking references and needed permission to call my current district. I think that is promising. I had a good talk with my special education director and he is supportive. So, I may be a state employee before too long (I know that's not held in high regards in many places). It was for a special education coordinator position. It involves a lot of state travel, but I think it'd be a great learning experience and plus pays enough for a single person to have a decent standard of living, unlike teaching in this state.
I'll check back in once or twice before I leave...

Les-{{{LES}}} I am sending you a virtual hug because it just sounds like you need one from the tone of your writing lately, for whatever reason. And even if you don't(although we all could use daily hugs!), you can have it anyway. . . just because. I hope you got some good dreaming in last night.
Jen-Hi again!! OUCH!! Hope the "tushie" feels better soon. Bony "butt" bruises can be terribly painful and linger. Hope yours doesn't. Where in Texas is the next camp? I presume not near "Dolly's" landfall or I'm guessing camp might be canceled for a bit. Congratulations on the prospects of a new job. A state job IS A JOB! And these days, that is a precious thing for many!;) As for my kids. . . DS#1 is 12 y.o, DS#2 is 11 y.o., and DD will be 9 y.o. in less than 2 weeks. The 3 of them were born in a 3 1/2 year period so I was terminally pregnant or nursing for over 4 years straight! When DD was born, the 3 of them were all in diapers at the same time!! That is when I retired from medicine!!
I had a pretty good day, but the afternoon was kind of eaten up by my doctor's appt. I had a good swim and needed a bit more de-stressing after breakfast(I get too worked up about these lady "peak" appts. each year:rolleyes:). Anyway, I ran/power walked on the treadmill; then decided to just relax before the appt. So I ran a few errands and spent a good hour just reading books at Border's. The appt. was over faster than I could bat an eye, and it looks like I am good to go for another year(but I already knew that anyway!). How I made it through all those appts. having three kids, one will never know. I think as I have matured(since I am NOT getting older:D), these things just bother me a bit more. And you'd think as an MD who grew up with 3 brothers and is/was used to letting things all "hang out," I would not start reacting like this now. But, one never knows. Anyway, as I said, it went fine and I have a clean bill of health.
Tomorrow I will swim and box.
Good evening,
Karen

Starting with a big thank you to both of you (and any others out there). But enough about me...
Congratulations sound like they are in order for you Jennifer if for no other reason than you're moving forward in what sounds like a pretty big job interview. Sorry about the bum tushie and it does sound like you briused it, I know from some experience that bruises there definitely hurt a bunch. It sounds like you had a good camp session and you really sound stoked for the one coming up. Hopefully it isn't too hot (but I wouldn't count on that) and that you have a safe trip there and back again. And to answer your question (almost forgot it), I have 3 weeks off after the hospital then it's back to school full time in my second of three years in Seminary. Included in the full-time is another internship working at a local church (St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Reston) honing my skills in the parish setting. In that three weeks my wife and I are going on a week-long early 25th Anniversary trip to Canada to decompress after the past hugely busy year. Once we're back I'll be getting ready for another race on Labor day.
Congratulations are on the way to you too Karen for a clean bill of health and a good stress-relieving workout. I'm all for getting older not maturing - there's just too much 4 (or 5) y.o. hanging out inside me that I've spent way too many years trying to track down. :D I hope the rest of your week is good and productive too.
Thanks for the virtual hug - it was needed. This has been a trying week (and I'm not even on call). There has been a lot of self-care time that hasn't included running away. Partly because I haven't gotten home at an hour that would allow a run or ride and partly because I really think I would have been running away. I'm praying for a sane day tomorrow and getting home early (I'm going to figure out how to leave the hospital a little early tomorrow -- no kidding) so I can get home and do a little more "me" maintenance that includes a ride.
Thanks again and peace to all,
Les

Les-Just to give you some idea. . .when I was in my internship I used to get to the hospital around 5:30-6 am and most days(if I was not on call), I would not get home until anywhere between 8-10 PM. Dinner was often a bowl of cereal and then straight to bed. And those were the days when there were no laws regarding being on call and working the next day. So when I was on call, I stayed overnight and worked the next day. Residency was slightly more humane, but still rough. I'm not trying to down-play what you are going through, but basically say that I know where you're coming from. That and the emotional burdens of the position you are in now have to be stressful. Hang in there. You are a very strong person!
My day was nice here. We had an impressive rain and wind storm last night that woke me out of a sound sleep, but fortunately no residual lightening or thunder to prevent me from getting in my swim this morning. Alot of people did have power outages. We had a very brief one last night, but it came back quickly. Also alot of tree limbs down. Anyway, I had a good swim. Jacuzzi has not been too nice to me at all this summer. It has just been too stinkin' hot to get into lately. I tried the other day, and within a few minutes, I looked like a lobster and I could not take it. Woe is me! Anyway, did a bit of veggie shopping for the weekend ahead(DH is on call, so I have a few kitchen plans) and then went to boxing. Excellent class today. After a shower and lunch, I did my Costco shopping. I dropped off a few disposable cameras that DS#1 gave to me on visiting day to get developed. I did not realize just how fast they develop them there. I could have picked them up before I left, but did not discover it until I got home and looked at my tickets. Oh well. I am always passing by there and we have no urgent need to get them immediately.
That's it for me for now. Have a nice evening.

Thanks Karen, I knew you'd understand what was going on without being said. Your internship sounds absolutely brutal, especially with on-call and working the next day. Things will all be fine, especially with a little distance. Sorry the jacuzzi was so hot - I wonder why they can't get the thermostat fixed! I'm glad the weather didn't whack you too badly - especially with electricity (or lack thereof). I hope your weekend plans go off without a hitch and I hope that DH's on-call is uneventful.
Today was all about taking care of myself (after work) and even though I had no run today I took advantage of a mix up with the shuttle from the hospital and walked (after making rounds all over the hospital) from the hospital to the Metro station. Not all that far but a warm but pleasant day. Sadly worked up a sweat in my work clothes (dress shirt and dockers - the dockers will be fine) but it still felt good.
Off to sleep to let my mind try for an un-encumbered night's sleep.
Peace,
Les

Les-It sounds like a leisurely walk to the Metro. even in the sultry weather was just what the doctor ordered. Take care and have a relaxing weekend.
I had a good day with my swim and a bike ride later in the morning. I also did some weights. I try to get those in twice a week. I even was able to get into the jacuzzi for 5 minutes today without turning beet red. Anyway, after I finished my bike ride, I went out to survey the garden since I had not been there for a few days with all of our rain. I knew there was some stuff that was close to being ready to pick a few days back, but oh boy. . . .I have alot of catching up to do with my produce. I picked two humongous yellow squash. Fortunately, I think I caught them just in time. Another day or two and they might not have been that great to use. Also got a very nice zucchini, green beans, and about a dozen different cucumber. Today I ended up making a double batch of pesto to freeze(haven't even used up all of last years supply yet!!). Also I told DH to cut back this year on the basil so instead of planting 18 plants like last year, he planted 25!!! Also made a big batch of refrigerated pickles. I will likely use the squash later this weekend in some sort of soup. . .maybe a calabacitas soup with chicken.
So for the weekend, DH works and I have my work cut out for me in the kitchen and garden. I will ellipticize in the mornings along with a few abs.
Have a good weekend everyone,
Karen

Hi all, back from Seattle. Actually got back very late Tuesday but have been busy, busy since then.
We had a great trip. I'll post some pictures once DBF shows me where they are on the computer. The first full day we were there we hiked to a couple waterfalls. It was really beautiful, and great weather - sunny and highs in the mid-70s. My brother also took us to a park that is surrounded about 80 percent by a lake and has a great view of mt ranier, and we walked around there. All this was 8.5 miles of hiking/walking, which was way too much for me so i paid the price in pain for the next couple days. but it was really pretty. the next day my brother took us to some of the houses he has built (he works in high-end residential construction). one of them was for a microsoft head-honcho and it was on a 1.5 acre lot (unheard of in seattle proper) and with a great view of water, of course. he also worked on a couple floating houses (not houseboats, but houses that are on a concrete slab floating on the water. kind of weird, if you ask me!). we spent some time at the public market, ate a lot, went to a baseball game, went to the beach, road the ferry to bainbridge island and went to a great independent bookstore. DBF was in heaven.
i told dbf before we went there that he would want to move there (he's never been to the pac northwest before), and sure enough, he's abandoned denver as his ultimate destination and now he wants us to move to seattle. so we'll see if we can eventually make our way there.
we got back here after 11 p.m. and it was still 92 degrees out! yuck! and my to-do list is a mile long.... speaking of, it's time for me to go tackle it.
jen - hope you're surviving your trip here to texas and that your tush feels better!
oh, p.s.: got in a ride on mack on wednesday and dbf and i went to the gym today. saturday evening i'm going to the barn, but it's going to be HOT so mack and i will probably just go on a walk.

Welcome back Kate, I too knew that DBF would want to move to Seattle - I love it there too. Just seeing your list brings back great memories. A favorite picture is sitting in the arobretum by U of W and watching the armada of Geese come sailing in. I understand the floating house thing too - a little odd to think of it but in reality it's not too bad in my book. Hopefully you get your to do list whittled down a little.
Karen - It's great that you got all your workouts in today. 18 basil plants sounds like a lot to me so 25 is beyond that. :D You do sound like you have your weekend cut out for you - hopefully the kitchen isn't too hot for you. Thanks also for your good thoughts - they are helpful.
Walking yesterday was what the doctor ordered. Leaving work a little earlier today and getting a good 40 minute grind in on my bike was fantastic today. But for now - I'll leave it at that and close out this work week with a nod and a wink...
Peace,
Les

Hey gang - I was a good boy and slept in. I definitely needed it too. I even had a double workout today - a run and some extensive weights... But it's sad to say but I have officially lost my edge when it comes to running. I ran this morning and it wasn't too bad but it was a struggle. Of course I did a bunch of riding last night and finished at 7:45-7:50 and there weren't a lot of flats to ride on. I ran for over an hour but ended up doing a mix - sometimes 4/(minutes of running/walking) 1 and in the especially hilly parts it was more like 3/:30. I guess I have spent my fitness savings account and need to get back to a routine - sometime after the next 10 days (or so) before that can happen. So for now I'll just keep plugging along. This afternoon/evening, I got my upper body and lower body workout in. We're (school) in the process of moving new students into their apartments. 14 of us (including the couple) offloaded a Budget Rental truck and hefted the stuff about 150 feet from the parking lot and then up to the second floor. Not too bad until we started taking on the 75-100 kg pieces of furniture. But that's done now and I can rest tonight.
Peace all,
Les

Les-Glad to hear you got some much needed rest over the weekend. It's funny that you brought up the topic of your "edge" as DH and I were just talking about that recently. We got on about how just a year or two ago, our workouts on our home equipment were "better" only in terms of numbers than they are today. I think the main reason being not that either of us(or you for that matter) has lost their "edge" but that as we get older, we just can't push our bodies as far as we used to be able to push them. So while you may have slipped a bit since your workouts have not been as consistent as they once were, I know you well enough just from our on-line discussions that you are dedicated to a healty lifestyle and physical fitness so you will likely always be that much "fitter" than most other men in your same age group.
I had a great swim this morning and a pretty decent boxing class as well. This afternoon had my appt. for my foot(plantar wart), went to the grocery store, and DH and I just got back from having a very nice and relaxing dinner outside followed by some frozen yogurt. Yum!
That's it here. Have a nice evening,
Karen

Thanks, I had kind of lost my perspective about things. You are right, I'm probably more fit than most others even 5 years younger than I am.
This afternoon had my appt. for my foot (plantar wart)...
I thought that thing was gone, or at least I remember the doctor saying something about it not coming back... ;) :D Hopefully your foot feels fine tomorrow and you have another good workout in the morning.
I had a good day at work and I even had the opportunity to run tonight for about an hour. Felt a lot better than Saturday so maybe... I'll have to keep trying to get home early enough to run before it's too late.
Need to head to bed - it may be an interesting day tomorrow (I think it would be a flash-back for you Karen), nothing bad on the horizon, just a couple out of the ordinary things.
Peace all,

Les-Hopefully my "flashback day" turned out to be a good one for you.;) And yes, foot doctor had THOUGHT that he had gotten rid of said wart and sent me on my way last spring. Fast forward 1 month and I realize it is NOT gone, so I try to make appt. It takes another 1-2 mo. to get into see doctor because of both of our schedules which means we essentially had to start almost from square one again. Of course, he admonishes me for waiting 3 months to get into see him, at which point I remind him that he told me it was gone and not to make another appt. At this point(after yesterday's treatment) he thinks it is gone again. I TOLD him that I will be making another appt. anyway so that he can look at it a final time just to "make sure!"
Fortuantely, old Ms. foot did not hamper my day today. As a matter of fact, usually it smarts a bit after each treatment for one day, but this time not much at all! I had an excellent swim and elliptical before doing some work around the house including a garden survey. More cukes to pick today, but zucchini is giving me a break now. This afternoon went out to do some errands and caught up with a friend that I have not talked to since the kids got out of school.
Hope everyone had a good day. Good evening,

Les, glad to hear you got a good run in the other day.
Karen, i would love to have your garden! Or at least the results, not the work that comes with it. Around here, that would involve a lot of watering. Even my drought-tolerant plants are struggling.
It's been too hot for doing much here. The past couple days were 105. Today i think it "only" got up to 100. We're in for probably another six weeks of this until things start cooling down with highs in the low- to mid-90s when we hit mid-september. Yuck!
Had hoped to make it to the gym sunday, but didn't get enough sleep to get out of bed that early. they were ripping up the street all night/morning as the water main broke again. probably the third time in a year the water main on my street has broken. the street is in really bad shape. heading to the barn wednesday, and i'll aim to get in a short walk-trot on mack.
today i headed to the local state university to get info on a program i'm leaning toward. i'm planning on taking the GRE in early october. i really liked the woman i spoke with and she strongly encouraged me to apply. so, we'll see. the thought of being unemployed for a while is really scary!

Drive by... Karen, Surgery went well and I was totally fascinated by the intricacy of the stitches the surgeon used in his procedure. Sorry about your foot not being better and I think it's a good call about making an appointment just in case. Great to catch up with friends that yo've missed over the summer.
Kate - Heat! YUCK! Good call to be inside as much as you can and avoiding running/outdoor exercise. Grace to you with your upcoming GRE - I sense you'll do fine.
No run to claim but a semi-planned rest day. Need to keep the legs and ankles happy with me that includes not running/riding 4 days in a row.
See you in the funnies and have a great day.
Peace to all,

Kate-welcome back and glad you had a nice vacation. I'd like to visit that area of the country someday, too. I've been to CA. alot, but not Seattle. Yes, that is very exciting and scary about the GRE's. I think you are doing the right thing and best of luck in your pursuits.
Les-I guess by "flashback" you meant "surgery." Now I think I get it!! Back to my old intern days of sewing 'em up!!;) Yep, lots of memories.
Pretty mellow day here with a good swim, bike ride, and weights. Aside from that, it was some paperwork around the house, a quick trip to the store for some fruits and veggies, and I finally finished the book that I was reading. Nothing too heavy duty here, but a relaxing day. I won't get too many of those once the kids get home!;)
Have a good evening,
Karen

Karen - Yes, surgery is what I meant by flashbacks (vaguely) remembering that you are an anestheologist before being a mother. I hope that you take full advantage of your quiet days before the mad-house of the fall. Of course, it sounds like that is the case.
Another rest day but I'm a little beat from the emotional weeks I've been through. If the rain stays away tomorrow then there may be a ride in the offing.
Sorry it's short again, lots of things to wrap up before the internship is over. Have a great downside of the week.
Peace,

Les-Yes, an anesthesiologist is correct, BUT I did my internship in general surgery, so there you go!! Hope the rain holds off for you tonight. And no apologies, please. You have alot on your plate and we know it here.
Another decent and quiet day here with a good swim and a run on the treadmill. I purposefully held back on boxing this week and tried to get in alot of variety, but tomorrow I will round out the week at boxing class. A bit of panic set in today when a big fancy envelope came in the mail for DS#1. Knowing exactly what it was, I did go ahead and open since I need to know the details and make an RSVP. He is invited to the first of his friend's Bar Mitzvah's!! YIKES! That means I, too, have to get my butt in gear and figure out what we are doing for his this upcoming May. This affair is in Boston. We'll really have to put our heads together to figure out if we can get him there and back if he wants to go. It is a camp friend and the mom said they will have all of the boy's camp friends from various distances spend the night at their house and stay for brunch the next day. I'll have to talk to him when he gets home.
That's it here. . .hot and sticky today, but should be a bit less sticky tomorrow. Have a good one!

Greeting Karen and thanks. I'm glad my "old" memory isn't failing me yet. ;) Probably a good thing to rest up a little on your boxing and really let out on it when the time is right. (after the kids get back?) Thank you for reminding me to not be sorry about being busy and reiterating it. That must have been unnerving to get a Bar Mitzvah invitation in the mail - DS#1 is a ways off but not all that far is it? Enjoy your boxing session and don't freak out about the Bar Mitzvah quite yet - you've got plenty of time to deal with that issue. ;) Hopefully you get rid of your DC weather too.
The rain held off, wish work, the trains, and busses would have cooperated. 5 trains in 10 minutes and they were all going to the wrong place (the baseball game). And I could have used a ride if it hadn't been 8 pm and I was contemplating dinner (even though I didn't want any at the time).
I'd say that maybe tomorrow but I have a sense that I'll get out of work at 5-ish and maybe get home in time for a smooth ride (but probably should hold out for a longer run on Saturday).
Hope you hae a great Friday and peace,
Les

Les-There is still hope for a good weekend run or ride! Hang in there. DS#1's Bar Mitzvah is this May which means this fall I DO have to start doing stuff i.e. guest lists, invites etc.... UGH!
I had a decent swim today and after driving DH to work, went boxing. DH's car died last night on his way home from work. He had it towed to the local service station where I picked him up last night. They peeked at it this morning and think it may be a belt or something. They gave a rough $$ estimate which did not seem terrible, but then did tell him that there were at least 6 cars in front of him and they probably would not get to it until tomorrow. So I will end up having to go pick him up again this evening. I offered to let him just take my car and I would do a home workout, but he did not want to inconvenience me. How sweet. . . besides, that conversation was just escalating and it was just easier to avoid the argument. Kinda went like this. . .ME: "Take the car dear" DH: "No, I don't want to tie you down" ME: "Honestly, it's OK" DH: "No, No, you're just saying that" ME: "What do I have to do to convince you that I am NOT just saying that?" DH: If you keep your car, you have the option to go to boxing today. I know you said you wanted to the other day." ME: "But the situation has changed now and I am very flexible" DH: "but this way you can still go to your class" ME: "Yah, but now I have to take you to work and pick you up" etc...etc.... That went on until I decided "Oh, the heck with it, it's not worth getting in a huff. . .I'll just keep the car and drive him to and from work. Who cares!" Anyway, that's my Friday ramble and boxing class was pretty good, too.;)
Hope everyone has a good weekend. We get to speak to DD on Sunday. It is her b-day!

Just got back from picking up DH and guess what??? His car is ALL better. They did get to it today afterall. All he needed was a new fan belt, so no new car shopping in this household now. :)

Hey Karen, that's too funny about your DH's car and the exchange about him taking your car. Almost wet my pants reading it (because I've heard that same discussion down here). I knew the Bar Mitzvah was within the year and really believed that there was work to do - hopefully you don't get too swamped by the event, even with this great amount of time available. I hope DD has a good b'day away from home (I bet she will). I'm also glad that DH's car wasn't too difficult to fix and to fix early.
I didn't get to the road today - weird cases today make for a fun (no kidding) day but also make for a long day. It's hard to imagine that in a week I'll be done with my internship at the hospital. Then back to the grindstone.
It's supposed to rain tomorrow so I'll have to see about what goes on. Planning on sleeping in a little and then running around with LW for a while too. A lazy day (which I need).
Peace,
Lels

Hey gang - thought I'd end the week with a quick note. Sadly, I skipped my run today - sadly because it was only in the low 80s today (probably the coolest it will be for the next 2 weeks). But it was useful to not run because I was able to catch up on something more important... sleep (again). That and I was able to last through almost 4 hours of moving two families into their apartments this evening (incluiding an oak rolltop desk that probably weighed ~350 pounds up two floors). I bet I'm going to be a little sore tomorrow from carrying all the boxes, being pinned between a sofa and the wall, and having the guy who was carrying an overstuffed chair up the stairs lose his grip and "drop" the chair into my right arm (and tweak my shoulder and tricep). It wasn't too bad but I sense I'll be feeling it tomorrow.
Speaking of which - sleep calls and sore muscles are asking (politely for now) for aspirin. I'll oblige them thank you.
Have a great week - looking forward to my last week even though I have 4 days on call (Mon - Thu) to round out the week.
Peace,
Les
