It’s Monday and a new week to improve ourselves right? :)

That’s how I try to think of it to keep myself going. It was a good weekend but we didn’t get any fencing done as DH decided he needed to cut down some more trees and the chainsaw was not cooperative (well it is probably 30 or 35 years old).

Friday was Cathe’s GS C&Tri’s, Saturday was treadmill followed by Firm More 5-day abs day 3 and Fitness Fix stretching and Sunday was back to Cathe’s GS Legs. My knees are sore :mad:but hopefully everything will cooperate and I can get back on the treadmill after work.

So how was your weekend, and anything good planned this week?

I can't complain about the weekend. Saturday I did 30 treadmill, 30 elliptical and Coremax 3. sunday we worked on our drainage project, shoveling gravle and other fun things, and some heavy garden work. no cardio but plenty of strength involved. today, I don't know. heading down to the workout room and probably will do treadmill/elliptical combo. Wednesday is a hike day so I need the cardio today and a lighter workout on tuesday so I don't suffer terminal soreness on wednesday. Hope everyone had a good weekend. wow, summer is flying by.

I haven't checked in with you guys in at least 2 months :o Life has been hectic this summer; my stepkids are here for a good chunk of the summer, which cuts into my computer time ;)

Sounds like you've all been working out faithfully!!

I haven't lost any weight, but I've lost a few inches. I am happy to see that the weights are working!

I went to Cathe's August Road Trip this past weekend. It was awesome!!! We got to see a "rough cut" of one of the STS dvds, the first to have any music applied to it. OMG, these DVDs are going to be amazing!! And in groups of 4, we got 30 seconds on the STS set with Cathe leading some simple steps, which was fun.

Walking has been my primary cardio this summer. But I finally did Step Blast; what a fun workout! Butts and Guts is a killer; I'm still trying to get through the standing leg work LOL

Hey all!

I ate WAY too much this weekend at our family reunion!! Cupcakes, pie, hotdogs, beer.... and zero exercise!!

My mom is here for a couple of days to make curtains for my bedroom and livingroom. So this morning I need to restart!! I'm really feeling squishy.:(

I start back a week from tomorrow - I can't believe it. We're headed to DC for a last min mini vacation on Thursday. The kids have never been so it should be lots of fun - the zoo, the monuments, museums etc....:)

I'll check back once I'm done and post personals then!!

I did BSS3 with Stephanie this am... OMG am I dragging! It felt good while I was exercising but my energy level is zero right now!!!

Michelle - How are your knees today? Any better? Don't tell me Scott chopped trees with an ax??? Yikes.

Valerie - Are you almost done with the project? We have perfect hiking weather today - it's gorgeous... 75 with no humidity. Really feeling like fall weather recently!

Alleycat - Hi! Life gets hectice sometimes - that's ok!! Good to hear that the inches are decreasing - good job!! Our Cathe fans will probably be excited to hear about your trip.:)

Gotta go round up the boys to finish our soccer shopping!! Have a great day!

Hi ladies!!

Charisse, glad all went well with your reunion! At least the food sounded good! ;) We had our block party this weekend, so I know what you mean about the eating!! You'll get back to normal in no time! I'd love to take the kids to DC, that's one of the vacations I want to do with them. We're starting up with soccer again, too. My oldest is starting with a new traveling team this year. Hope they don't travel too far too often! I know a few of the games are about an hour away and they do a couple tournaments.

Alleycat, that's so cool that you were able to go to the road trip! Sounds like a blast. I'm a bit bummed - I had to cancel STS - just too much money right now. I'm sure I'll wind up ordering it at some point in the future, though.

Valerie, good workouts and project progress! Summer is flying by, the kids start school on the 25th.

Michelle, sounds like you're getting right back into your workouts. I did GS Legs yesterday - ouch! Hope your knees improve.

Today I did an itread on the treadmill during my lunch - went 5.25 miles!! Yea me!! :)

Have a great day all!!

Crazy morning here all but I like it like that. Last night we got wet on the way home as we rode the motorcycle into work and it rained. Oh well I didn’t melt so I guess it’s all good.;) I got on the treadmill last night and did my heart rate program which takes me about an hour to do with warm up and cool down. Then I did the old Firm More 5-Day Abs – Day 4 and followed that with Cathe’s Stretch Max 1. I do pretty good except for child’s pose and pigeon pose and those just hurt my knees.

Up tonight is Cathe’s GS B, S and Bi. Have to build up some muscle in prep for her STS series (gulp:eek:).

Hope everyone else is having a good day and feeling f-i-n-e. (Yes my age is showing:o).

Joanne - Good job on getting that workout in over lunch. Which Itread was it? Do you like the itreads?

Charisse - Excellent on hopping right back on board with Stephanie. Not an easy choice to jump in with. And how nice that your mom is staying to take care of the curtains. I love DC, just too many things to see there.

Allycat - A friend of mine went to the July trip and had a blast. Do you know if you are in any of the photos on Cathe's website? If so which one? But if you survived the RT then I'm sure you are in great shape. Look forward to seeing you back.

Valerie - Are you happy with the way things are shaping up on your landscaping project? You definitely are getting in your strength work and a lot of 'functional fitness' to boot. Hope the hike goes well, no snow on the trail.

Quick post - gotta take the boys to eye dr appts...

I "power" walked for an hour this morning around our lake - felt good to be outside exercising! Tomorrow is weights before heading down to DC. Weight is back to being somewhat managable - good news!!:)

Michelle, how did GS Back, Bicep and Shoulders go? I just did that one this morning! I love the itreads! Cardio coach, too. There's no way I'd go as long or push myself as much on the treadmill without using those.

Hi Charisse! Good job on getting the weight back in check!! We did the eye doctor thing last month. My oldest has glasses which he wears all the time. My second oldest got prescribed glasses this time. The doctor said he only needs to wear them in school to see the chalkboard if he's having problems. Well, we picked up the glasses, my son ran into his room with them and promptly hid them and proclaimed he was never going to wear them. :o Poor guy. They actually look nice on him.

Hi everyone else!!

Have a great day!

Sam needs glasses - the poor child is really nearsighted!!! He sits very close to the tv so I knew something was up but oh my gosh! He's like me. I got glasses in 3rd grade too. We picked out frames and he can't wait to see!!:)

I did Ultimate Fat Burning Cardio this am with Allison. Good sweaty workout. We leave this afternoon for DC - up first is the zoo!! http://nationalzoo.si.edu/Animals/GiantPandas/ Check out the pandacam!!

Joanne - Sam need to wear his most of the time - he picked out square shaped wire frames (much like mine!) and looks really cute! So many kids have glasses these day - just like braces!!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!!:)

Tuesday was a busy day. yoga in am. then 15 treadmill, 15 elliptical, and GS back & biceps. Plus I increased weight a bit, going to 20+ lbs on the one arm rows and 8 lbs for the half of the side lateral raises. I think I upped the weight a little on some other moves but only slightly. It's strange how some moves get easy but others stay just as hard as the first time.

Wednesday we planned on hiking but DH decided we needed to work the landscape project. so we picked up 1200 lbs of gravel to fill in preparation for pouring concrete. that is only half a small pickup truck load. we unloaded it in about half an hour & it provided a good upper body challenge. a dump truck would be a real plus here but a shovel will do the job too. I need to be careful of tennis elbow here but so far not even a twinge. computer is really balky, will finish later.

Valerie, I notice the same thing. I've been increasing my weights in some exercises, but others I seem to be stuck. Shoulder presses kill me. And tricep stuff. I think all that gravel moving is enough of an upper body workout for awhile!

Charisse, have a great trip to DC! Enjoy the zoo! I need to take the kids to the zoo before school starts (which is less than two weeks ). Ian just finished the whole braces ordeal - now he just has a retainer. Got that all paid off and now Jameson needs them! Yikes! DH said we should ask the orthodontist for a discount since we've got two more kids that'll probably need them. I think they did give us a family discount.

Today's workout was Athletic Step Jam (Sharon Twombly). It's a CIA video. Almost 70 minutes of step and I actually finished it. I've never made it through before. Of course, I was laying on the floor in a stupor afterwards! ;)

What can I say, a rough day on the computer so far. I had to log in twice, I had to sign out earlier because my system started doing something and the screen locked up. and when I came back on I typed a lengthy post and it suddenly disappeared into cyberspace. :(

Anyway I was wondering what the heck itread and cardio coach are? can you clue me in?

I still ( don't laugh) have not gotten thru a full session of butts & guts. I seem to be able to stick to upper body weight workouts, but not lower body, where it might actually help more! Shoulder presses, I like but I am happy at 10 lbs and haven't been able to do 12 lbs. If I am "just" finishing the 3 sets at 10 lbs I don't think I can move up yet. bicep curls I am at about 25 lbs and am NOT going anywhere else soon. I am able to do all the triceps work and those don't get sore. but you know, just doing those over and over at the same weight my arms are starting to look much nicer.
Would love to go to a Cathe road trip and see in person the women I spend so much time with! I'l skipping STS for now. If I reach the point where I'm getting bored with the DVD's I have, then maybe.

It looks like all kids are going to need braces at some time. an orthodontist's dream come true. being a recent brace-wearer though, it was worth it and I wish I'd had the opportunity when I was a kid. my parents were cheap and although we had a bunch of dentists in the family no one suggested it. the glasses? I would think it won't be too long before you could look at contacts, as soon as he's responsible enough to keep them clean etc. (assuming he might want them). I don't understand how anyone can play any sports with glasses although obviously some people do. I can only use glasses when I'm sitting still. can't walk or move with them at all. and I've had glasses for about 40 years. needless to say, I don't wear them much! Emergency only and then briefly. Never had the same issues with contacts. I'd get vision correction surgery if I could figure out a way to go without lenses for the month before which I believe is a requirement.

Valerie, both cardio coach and itread are mp3 programs that you listen to while on the treadmill. They have music and someone "coaching" you. Itread gives you specific speeds and inclines to use and cardio coach uses perceived exertion levels. I really push myself when I use them. The websites are www.cardiocoach.com and www.itrain.com. I'm sure they'll explain it much better than I am!

Butts and Guts is tough!! I'm sure you'll get through it eventually, though!

Yea, you do need to go without contacts for at least a couple weeks before lasik surgery. I had it about a year ago. My eyes are not 20/20, though and I still use glasses occasionally for driving. I'm not 100% happy with it but I can see 100 times better than I could before. Before I was near blind!

Crazy hectic couple of days here so I’m not going to do personals (although I love to do them as I feel connected to you all when I do), but just let you know I’m still going.

Tuesday was Cathe GS B,S&Bi, which went pretty good except for a small incident with the band hitting me in the face (don’t ask). Last night was treadmill on the heart rate program. The problem was my HR jumped up and stayed up so the treadmill didn’t go very fast. Frustrating as I was feeling great, so instead I used the opportunity to focus on keeping my core strong while I walked. Hard for me to breathe when I do but it’s worth practicing. Hey can someone tell me why that would happen? I mean about the heart rate, as I vaguely remember something but it’s foggy at best. I followed that up with the old Firm More 5-day Abs, Day 5 and Cathe’s Stretch Max, Ball Stretch.

On tap tonight is Cathe GS C&Tri. Since my knees are so sore I use the ball a lot, wall squats, instead of the bench for sitting things and for push-ups.

Well hopefully I will have more time tomorrow. See ya!
