A reference I found on here a couple of weeks ago, www.foodsubs.com, (http://www.foodsubs.com,) says that a substitute for self-rising flour is 1 C all-purpose flour + 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder + ½ teaspoon salt.
Good luck with your biscuits!!

I just tried going to foodsubs.com and couldn't get to it. Does anyone know of a substitute for cake flour? http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/confused.gif

Darthchrista, I think the reason you couldn't get to www.foodsubs.com (http://www.foodsubs.com) was that the comma at the end of it got picked up as part of the URL. Try this one.

Cheers, Phoebe

p.s. - I just tried it out myself, to make sure it worked (it did), and I noticed that the featured ingredient on the site today is the Ugli Fruit. Have you ever tried it? It's become one of my favorites: looks like a rotting grapefruit, peels like a tangerine, and tastes like an orange with overtones of cherry, only juicier. Yum!

You can substitute 1 C. all-purp. flour minus 2 tbsp for cake flour......... http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Ohioan, Yes I was able to get to the foodsubs.com site, and No, I haven't tried Ugli fruit. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/eek.gif What a horrible name for a food item though, however it does sound delicious, I may have to pick one up this weekend. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

Shelly, thank you for the substitution info. I was making a chocolate chip coffee cake with chocolate chip struesel. Needless to say there is none left http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
