I didn't see a thread yet for this month so I thought I'd take the leap and start things off. :)
I'm feeling contrary today, so I'm only posting DH's and Danny's ages...
DH: 39
Danny: 17 months
Things continue to go well in our world. Danny is finally starting to transition a little easier to his new room at daycare, and his morning crying when I leave is half-hearted and stopped within about 30 seconds this morning. I made some CD's for daycare (see that other thread) and his teacher popped one in this morning and I think that killed the crying. Yay!
He's becoming increasingly more mobile and agile, and is discovering a love for climbing, although he hasn't yet figured out how to climb up on the furniture (fingers crossed that this one doesn't happen for a while). He does love to start climbing up the stairs when I'm not looking (when I'm 2 feet away and washing dishes or something), and particularly loves to test out his ability to actually walk up them versus crawling at times like these. I should be completely white-haired here in the next few months. :p
Slow progress on the talking front, although he doesn't seem to like to practice his new words a lot. I think I deciphered "gimme" this weekend (urgh), and he can do "cereal", "night night" and some other words. He's also FINALLY started waving "bye bye" but has to work on his timing a bit - he traditionally does it after the person he's waving at has already turned away. ;)
And of course, no real progress on the eating front. I've tried making his smoothies with Pediasure in an attempt to give him some extra nutrition, but he agrees with me that this does not taste good. Ew. I've tried both the vanilla and the chocolate and they're pretty gross. Oh well. He definitely gets his daily quota of fruits, calcium, carbs and protein (yogurt and cottage cheese) and iron, so that's the best I can do.
And has anyone else started thinking about Halloween costumes? I just haven't seen anything that's not too baby-ish or too hot (furry and padded) that appeals to me. I'm thinking possibly a toddler sized Steelers uniform...
How's everyone else doing?
:)

Thanks Leah for starting the thread. I kept meaning to start it, but never got around to it. Good to hear that Danny is doing better with the transition. That has to make it so much easier for you to leave him. I will have to look for that other thread to read about your CD.
Me: 33
DH: 38
DD: Avery, 16 months
Our trip to Texas went really well. She did so good on all the flights. Only fussed a couple of times, but that was it. I was exhausted by the time we landed because I was constantly trying to entertain her or keep her distracted. Texas was hot but we did a lot of fun things....zoo, children's muesum, and lots of indoor playgrounds.
Avery develpoed a fever last night and it was up to 103.5 this morning. I am not sure what is going on. I do feel a couple of molars coming in, but I have heard that fevers are not caused by teething. Anyone's LO get a fever while teething? She does not have a runny nose or anything else that would make me think she is sick. She just has the fever and is very clingy and quiet.
We are really working on the eating front. We are only offering her 3 things at a meal. Some of what we are eating, a veggie, and a sure thing. We have gotten her to try some new things. She is not really liking anything new but at least she is trying them. And she is off her bottles!! I am still giving her milk before nap and bedtime with her straw cup. She actually did not fight us at all on giving up her bottles which surprised me so much.
Back to my sick baby! :(

Poppy - so sorry that Avery is sick! (((Avery))) I've heard of fevers from teething but nothing as high as what she has. Sounds like she just has a random bug. :( How's she feeling today?

Avery is doing much better today. Thank you for asking. When she woke up this morning, she was a little warm, but by about mid-morning, she was back to her normal self. I have no idea what it was, but it seemed to have run its course. At least I hope so.
BTW, I have not thought about a Halloween costume yet, but I want to get something great because my sister is flying in for it and Avery needs to be cute for her auntie.:p

Wow, we fell waaaay off the page. :p
It's been quite the full week so far here, hopefully everyone else's lives are more simple. A kid in Danny's class was found to have lice on Monday, so there was all the accompanying drama that went along with that. The teachers were on it very quickly, and none of the offending little critters managed to hop onto my kid's head, but I still washed everything and sprayed the "magic" spray on his car seat. And have been itchy all week just from power of suggestion. ;)
Danny's also been the victim of Fang, his otherwise adorable moppet of a classmate with a penchant for playing vampire. She got him on the arm on Monday, and apparently got him on the sly Tuesday. When I was getting him undressed Tuesday night for his bath I saw two rather significant bruises on his back, and best we can figure is that she bit him again. I can't imagine how she managed to get him in between his shoulder blades - what, did she hold him down, chomp and hang on? (the bruising is pretty bad) And no one saw this??? And how did she manage to get him so badly through his t-shirt??? His teachers and the daycare director were pretty horrified at this, so hopefully they'll keep a better eye on Fang. Meanwhile, my poor baby. :(
Still no decision on Halloween costumes here. DH and I are debating between a baby Elvis or mini Steeler.
How is everyone else doing?

Leah, are we the only ones around?!? It does not sound like you had a fun week. Lice- YUCK!!!! Just the word makes me squirm. What do you have to wash? Everything?!? And I am so sorry about Danny getting bitten again. That sounds awful. Avery likes to bite me on the shoulder when I am holding her so I am so worried that she is going to be a biter.
I vote for mini Elvis. That would be so cute. We got a hand-me down giraffe costume so I better start trying to teach Avery to say giraffe. :p
We had a crazy week last week too. Avery ended up having roseola (spelling?). She broke out in a horrible rash on Wednesday when the fever broke and it was gone by Friday. My step-grandmother was in town and my DH had to have a growth from his eye removed. So between a non-sleeping baby, entertaining, and nursing, I was happy when the week was over.
On the good news front, we gave Avery eggs for the first time and she did not have a reaction AND she like them. Yeah! Looks like she must have outgrown all of her allergies. Has anyone giving their LOs peanut butter yet? I tired to get Avery to eat Soynut Butter but she hates it (I cannot blame her- so do I) and I am tempted to give her a good ol' fashioned PB&J.
Anyone else out there?

Hi Leah and Poppy (and all the other quiet wobbler Moms!)!!
I thought I'd better check in before the month ends! We've been super busy entertaining two rounds of out of town guests and then left immediately afterwards for a 10-day trip to see my family in NC. We're all exhausted and ready for a quiet fall.
Sounds like Avery and Danny are doing well, aside from the fevers, lice scare, and bite wounds! Oh my. Poor Danny. They really should be watching Fang like a hawk. (Now that I say that, Hannah will probably turn into the biter in her room....She has an aggressive streak!)
Poppy, great news about the eggs! I have not yet given Hannah peanut butter, but have been meaning to do so. We were at the beach last week, and I absent mindedly gave her a small piece of shrimp. I panicked and watched her closely for hours for an allergic reaction b/c I couldn't remember when shellfish is allowed. Bad mommy, but H was fine. Leah, has Danny tried peanut butter?
We're doing well. Hannah is so sure on her feet these days and talking up a storm. I'm astounded by how much she's developed. She thrived on all the attention during vacation and had a fun first dip in the ocean. The child is fearless though (aside from her odd phobia of tape measures), so I was constantly chasing her around.
There are a few things I've been meaning to ask, but I should probably save them for the October thread. I'm curious if anyone else's dr. suggested they start putting LO on the potty at this early age (?!!?), utensil use (we're so behind), and possible blood from teething (a stain I assumed had come from her ear, but was shocked when her ears were clear).
Hope everyone else is doing well!
-Laura
