but I had to say that I whipped up the Devils Food Cake in the August issue yesterday in about 10 minutes and gave all the kids a healthy snack by the pool! I really impressed the neighbors! And it was 95 here yesterday! Cake on a hot day!!!! This was so easy and good that I might make it again today.
Anyone else enjoying the hot??? I seem to love it, haven't even turned on the air yet (dh is getting a little grumpy, better turn it on before he comes home from work!)

I heard in the news yesterday you midwesterners are having a heat wave. Just don't send it my way. We've had the best summer ever in New England. I've only put the A/C on about 4 days so far. It's been unusually dry and cool. Great grilling weather and since I just bought a Weber Gas Grill that's all I've been doing. Today I have a roast chicken marinating in a spice rub and I plan on grilling it later. Yummy! I do want to try those one bowl cake recipes everyone is raving about in this months issue.

Would it make you jealous to know we don't even *have* a/c here in Bend? Never gets hot enough to need it except one or two days a year. :D

Lisa,
I'm from a suburb of Phoenix, AZ. Darn tootin' I'm jealous! It's almost the opposite for us - we DON'T have the A/C on but MAYBE 3 - 4 months a year.
Yesterday, it was ONLY 101 but with very high humidity. (Remember - Phoenix is the "It's a dry heat" place.) In the morning the dew point was at 71 degrees. Didn't happen to catch what it ended up being for the rest of the day but it sure was muggy.

I'm with Lisa! Up here in the Seattle area, you don't find many homes with air conditioning. When I moved here from central California nearly nine years ago I was shocked! I lived with A/C all my life and couldn't imagine living without it!
We live with ocillating fans and ceiling fans, and there always seems to be a breeze around here. Open my slider door and another window in my living room and I've got crosswinds coming through to keep me cool!
There's no way in POOP I could go back to 105-108 degree temps. It's supposed to hit about 60 degrees today, and I had the heat on in my car this morning to take off the chill...hee!!
:p :p :p

I'm with you cold weather people too. There's nothing like worrying about your heating bill in August (A/C -- what's A/C?).

Jewel, didn't you just say a couple of days ago that you would trade with someone cause your temp wouldn't get past 74? :p
I can't imagine not having A/C...it's really humid here in the south!

Only 'cause maybe the sticky heat would control my appetite!!! And Heeter? Don't mean to be a show-off, but...our combined gas and electric bill for July was $39.86. Our priciest combined bill was January's $115 but that was 'cause of the gas heat. So I guess I won't trade after all!! :D :D

I am a gal who loves summer, sun and heat. But this year it is too heated up for me. Forget laying out at the pool.
I about made myself sick after working out this week. Not a good way to motivate myself to return to the gym soon!
Can you tell the heat is making me crabby in St. Louis?

Heidi..
I am a fellow desert dweller. I am jealous of the no a/c thing too. We do have an evap that has worked really well this summer, until this past week. Just love those monsoons!

LOL! Ours was $23 for July. Thhhhhhpt. ;)
I much prefer heat over cold. However, I don't like to move around or work out in excessive heat. It was 103 degrees today, so far the hottest day of the year officially for McKinney, Texas.
