Carnitine supplements for infants?

Does anyone know anything about carnitine supplements? My 5 month old was tested for carnitine deficiency and her levels were normal, but the doctor still thinks it might be a good idea to put her on supplements because she's big. I'm hesitant to put her on something she doesn't need...but maybe it's totally harmless. I don't know.:(

I'd maybe get another opinion....... I think you're right to wonder why you should give her something she doesn't need, if her levels already test just fine.

Thanks Kim. We did decide not to give it to her...I just don't see the point. :confused:
We're kind of disappointed in the doctors we've seen right now. If we still feel that way at her 6month appointment we're going to see someone else.
