Michelle logged in on last week's thread and thought I'd post it here....

Well sorry I've been so long getting back. DM has decided not to come up here but to start the new chemo treatments sooner. She figured that gave the tumors less time to grow. So she has a month off to take care of getting a new stint in the ureture and dental work and let her body build up some strength.

As for me I went through a bit of a down time from worry about her. Then Scott and I worked on getting the fence up for the winter pasture. So no formal workouts for quite some time. Get home from work and then out in the pasture until 8 pm doesn't leave much recup time. So after talking to my therapist I took the weekend and we went to Grand Forks (big city - or what passes for one nearby...although I would like to do a weekend in Winnipeg at that fancy hotel downtown sometime...) Just spent the weekend relaxing and not worrying about what we got done or when.

We don't know if Pearl is bred but should know soon. Turns out the vet's ultrasound machine got destroyed by another horse so he's waiting for a replacement before he can check Pearl. I have an appt with the ortho about my knees on the 25th and then we can head out to get the horses. A whole summer without them - stinks! But at least we have a time table now.

I don't know if I will workout tonight but I plan on getting back to it this week. Engineer

I got my butt in gear this weekend. I did Burn and Shape on Saturday and Super Sculpt on Sunday. Today I planned on doing cardio but the eye dr called and we had to go pick up Sam's glasses. Best laid plans.... I could only do Core Max #1. Oh well. Weight seems to be coming back into normal.

Michelle - I had no idea it was the whole summer without the girls!! Wow. Hope Pearl is successful:) Glad you were able to get some relaxing time in. That really is important. Again, positive thoughts for your mom and the chemo.

Charisse - Thanks for adding Michelle's post - I would have missed it. Kudos on the workouts and nice to hear that the weight is getting back to normal!

Beautiful weather here! Low '80's all this week. It's cool enough that we don't have to use the A/C (at least not when working out). Clear, sunny skies -- love it! We got a lot of rain on Saturday & some winds but that's about it. Fortunately. Many other in Houston & Galveston we're so lucky.

DS continues to do better although we're still doing breathing treatments. But none during the night and no cough medicine so we're making progress. I'm getting a little more sleep so my exercise routine is shaping up again! Saturday I did Body Max 2, Monday was Muscle Max and today was Imax 1. Yea! Imax was fun except my DVD froze up about 45 minutes into it. Then the audio & video started to separate....ugh! Annoying but not so much that I couldn't finish the workout - good thing the moves are straightforward, though! I'll be sending that DVD back.

Michelle - thinking of you & your Mom.

Hello to those that follow!

Hi Stacy,

Do you ever have problems with your knees doing IMAX? I'm getting to the point where I have to bring everything down to low impact otherwise my knees ache!! So glad DS is doing better. Being up at night worrying is the worse!!!!

I did Super Body Scupt the upper body and ab workout - I'm off to soccer practice to walk!

Beautiful weather here too - I keep thinking about all in the Houston area and how lucky we are here.

So far, so good with IMAX but this was my first time!! :D I did like that it wasn't complicated (read: I didn't have to worry about falling off the step or tripping over my feet). I'm pretty careful about what I do and with stuff like this I always modify if I think it might be too much. I did some of that today! I'm old. I have to say that my knees used to bother me but they really haven't in quite some time. I'd like to think that the strength training has helped! I am paying more attention to my feet and ankles these days. The new shoes seem to help but my toe issue hasn't gone away. I need to go back to the podiatrist.

What an excellent exercise day for you! We're off to DS's tennis class - I'm ready to enjoy the great outdoors.

Back with Maximum Intensity Cardio this moring. When I previewed this, I thought it went on forever. And I wasn't sure how my body would take the hi-lo part of it. But it turned out okay! Only once did I think, "is she ever going to stop?". I didn't do quite as much bouncing and got lost a time or two but that's okay. Worked for me - and I won't be scared to do it again!

I'm here, I'm here, just slow to come around! Having two little ones keeps me humping for sure!
I ordered the new Firm 4 disc set from ebay for under $15 last week! yay! So I have been trying those out--i have tried all but one cardio video and i'm looking forward to it. I like them alot all ready. I like that they are SO repetitious--cathe can be a bit boring sometimes b/c you do the move 24 times before moving on.
So i've been enjoying those DVDs and on Tuesdays/Thursdays when the weather is nice we pack up and go to the park to walk. DD rides in the stroller and DS is in the sling so we don't move fast, but we cover alot of ground!
Today i did my own workout while watching the noon news--gotta keep it mixed up!

Engineer--glad you had a restful, enjoyable weekend!

Stacy--my goodness! you are awesome--those are tough workouts and to do them all in a row--you go girl!

Charisse--my knees have been bothering me lately. i think it was b/c i busted out my old Firm tapes that do alot of up/down on the tall step with weights. It's better this week. I'm beginning to feel my age :)

Hi, Sweetpea! Glad your sticking to it. Great score on the Firm DVDs!!! It makes you like them even more, huh?? Good to mix it up, too. Variety keeps me going, too. I try to follow one of Cathe's rotations. I like her workouts and it keeps things simple for me. I don't have to figure out what to do and she's already considered which areas/what type of workout for each day.

I did CTX Power Circuit this morning. Kind of a mistake but I subbed it for a circuit workout I don't have. It had hi-lo in the beginning (which I didn't remember) and after yesterday, it was kind of hard. Then the weight work was only legs & back. So instead of my leg workout later this week, I think I'll do a full body instead!

Happy Thursday!

Hi ladies. (waving shyly) Is there room for another?

I started working out with videos about two months or so ago, and much to my surprise have really enjoyed it. For whatever reason I seem to love Cathe's videos the most - bought a kickboxing one by someone else and it was just torture trying to make it through the video. I have a small version of the step, hand weights, bands, an exercise ball and the big exercise ball, plus a recumbant bike at home, so you'd think I'd be totally buff. ;) Unfortunately, it's very easy to blow off a video, even though I know I don't want to do the video every time I do, and I'm always glad that I did. I used to be a total gym rat and taught aerobics and was all into that, then, um, I had a kid 18 months ago.

I did a Cathe video Monday and Tuesday, then took last night off to eat Twizzlers and surf the internet. (urgh!) So I'm hoping my motivation kicks back in again tonight. I'm hoping that outing myself on this thread will increase the "shame factor" if I don't work out. :D

Currently debating on whether to buy another Cathe video - she has two kickboxing videos (KPC&G and something else) but I can't decide which to do. She spends a lot of time jumping in the air and I work out in our carpeted den, which makes some of her twisty, pivoty stuff a little iffy on my knees. When we move into our mansion one day, I fully intend to have a workout room with wood suspension floors. For the moment, now, though, it's the carpeted space in front of my TV, with the furniture and baby toys shoved aside.

So, um, anyway, can I play with you all? Is there room on the playground for one more?

:)

Welcome aboard Leah!!!!:) We can always use another player!!! I'm currently working out in our bedroom as the basement is being finished - I hear ya on the carpet issue! We have a couple on the board that are Cathe fans - maybe they can point you in a good direction!

I worked out twice yesterday:rolleyes: I did Cardio Overdrive and then went walking at the park while soccer practice was going on. My legs were a little sore this am!

Sam's birthday was yesterday - did the present thing after practice, we're having his birthday dinner tonight and he has a sleepover tomorrow with a couple of boys. What better way to celebrate your 9 yr old birthday?!!:D

I'm hoping to get in a couple of workouts this weekend - Have a great weekend everyone:)

Hi, Leah! Yes, please join us - the more the merrier! Funny how kids change our habits, huh?? I applaud you for wanting to get back in to your fitness routine. It took DH and I three years to figure out how to make it all work!! I workout with Cathe DVDs, too. I love her style and the workouts are challenging. I've made a lot of progress in my muscle tone and endurance. I wish I could drop some pounds, too, but still working on that one! If your looking for one of Cathe's kickboxing DVDs, I'd buy KPC. She also has Kick Max and Cardio Kicks but from what I've read, KPC is the favorite. I have it but not the others so I can't compare them but I do like KPC a lot. I hear you about the carpet! I usually skip the jumps. I get a great workout without them and I'm just going to hurt myself.

This morning I did the LIC timesaver premix and abs. This was my first Cathe DVD and probably still my favorite. Lots of fun!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi everyone, mind if I butt in?

I've been struggling to add more activity to my life, but it's a challenge.

I honestly can't figure out why I find it so easy to resist actually using the fitness dvds on my shelf. Sigh. Are mine too easy? Not well thought out? Most of them are utterly resistible.

On the plus side, I recently got a copy of Gin Miller's Straight Up Stick, and I like it. For one thing, it's short, so I can see myself adding it into a day when I've done a walking workout.

I wonder if maybe I should just let go of my notions of whatever it is I think 'my' workouts should be. For example, I've never done any serious weight training (though some of my dvds do use hand weights for part of the workout). Somehow lifting weights just seems a tad bizarre. Maybe if I explored that, I'd be intrigued enough to keep going?

The familiar round of walking and toning dvds is really not thrilling me, but on the other hand, so many of the workouts work at SUCH a high level that I know I'd never keep up.

Well, sorry to ramble, I just thought maybe I should put down a few thoughts, to see where they might lead. :)
