Hi everyone!!

I got hit with the stomach flu last week - :( YUCK!! I haven't had that for years! It totally wiped me out! I didn't do anything until yesterday.

Today I really needed to get back on the wagon so I did Burn and Shape. Ugh. I felt weak but it felt good to get moving. The plan is to keep moving (walking tomorrow at soccer practice).

Valerie - sounded like you had a good vacation.. and GREAt advice for Michelle - hope she can figure something out!!

Stacy - hope your vacation to New Orleans is fun:)

A new week - Hope everyone stays healthy!!!:)

Charisse, the flu is so unpleasant! did the whole family get it? that can be a seige! DH and I usually get things sequentially with him first.... exposure to everything is the nature of his job. I used to actually lose a few unwanted pounds ( the only possible benefit) but that doesn't happen any more. so now there is NO benefit! I'm careful about hand washing and hand sanitizer, not touching my face til hands are clean. I carry hand sanitizer in my car, purse, and backpack. I swear, most upper respiratory things I've gotten were from shopping cart handles! But that's almost impossible to do in a home with family.

I hope Michelle is working on changing things up. I have a niece in her 20's. She loved to run, but she developed a knee issue ( fat pad syndrome or something?) and running became painful. she can still run, just not all the time. she rotated in other activities to stay active and not aggravate a preexisting knee issue. She's mixed in bicycling and yoga now. Few of us are so biomechanically perfect that we can do the same activity over and over and not eventually get into problems. It can happen at any age. IMO it's why professional athletes often have only short windows for peak performance. so just like we are all learning in the financial markets:eek:, diversify, diversify!

diversify - love it Valerie!!!:) And luckily, it was just myself who got sick (fingers crossed, knock on wood and more!)

I power walked last eve - it was beautiful!! Fall air, crisp - yellows and oranges all around.

I host Bunco tonight - so I took a half day to clean and get food organized. I'm hoping to squeeze in a quick workout before everyone comes!!

Happy Wednesday to all :)

Hi ladies. :)

I'm still hanging in there on the home workouts. DH and I have traded a rather mild stomach bug back and forth the past two weeks and that's been my excuse for not doing much workout wise. I seem to be back on the bandwagon this week (well, hanging on to the actual wagon with one hand) and have done two bike workouts so far. May do a Cathe video tonight or tomorrow, or just keep biking this week. Hopefully by next week I'll be back to videos...

Hope everyone's having a good week. :)

I've taken a few days off but nothing excessive. we've done 3 hikes in the last week. two were pretty tough at least 10 miles with stiff elevation gain. needed recovery day after those!yesterday we hiked in the first "measurable" snow of the season. hiked to a lookout near Mt baker, pretty easy hike 7-8 miles RT with not real much elevation gain. Steep stuff gets slippery with an inch or two of snow especially on the way down. on every hike we've seen bears and yesterday was no exception. Saw two, one really close in a berry patch. we think he may have been snoozing with nearby water rushing down the glacial moraine drowned out our approach. all of a sudden he was up, took one glance at us and headed for the higher hills. He was uphill from us and we didn't see him until there was quite a racket as he tore off thru the bushes. Saw another eating berries a couple miles further but he heard us coming and had disappeared before we got within half a mile. ( Good bear, Good bear!) by after noon much of the snow was gone but it's getting colder and we will have more by the weekend. Time for a snowy backpack before roads get closed and inaccessible.
I've been on the treadmill and elliptical regularly. Doing Cathe's GS back bicep. I have a sore shoulder for some reason and need to back off on pushups until it gets better, so am skipping GS chest/triceps for now.

No illness here yet ( generally in the community) but got my flu shot and get more diligent with hand sanitizer and hand washing. I have fewer colds/ flu since I got careful. I use sanitizer EVERY time I shop or handle public surfaces, like door handles and countertops. I do it when I get back to the car . it's an easy habit to develop. the last two years I've had less illness than ever. I've even missed several head colds DH brought home.

I walked during soccer practice yesterday - I even went as far as alternating walking with running (talk about sucking wind!!) I felt good though and I think I'll continue doing this while soccer season is here!

I'd like to get a weight workout in today - I'm going clothes shopping tomorrow and want to make sure I'm ok!!!

Gotta run - will post more later!:)
