View Full Version : Pan handle protectors
I saw the niftiest things at our hotel in Hawaii-- like rubberized jackets that slipped over the handles of their omelet pans, so the omelet chef didn't burn his hands. (Good for burn junkies like me)
Has anyone ever seen such an animal and if so, got an idea where to find it? I've already checked out Chef's, Williams-Sonoma and Sur le Table without success, and I've even got an e-mail in to the hotel.

Hmmmmm.....I have seen the normal potholder type handle covers for skillets but not what you are describing. I will keep my eyes peeled though! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

I have Calphalon pots and pans. Some of them, such as the stir-fry pans, have these little suede (sometimes rubber) slipcovers for the handles. If you don't find something else, you might check out the Calphalon handle covers and see if they will fit for you. They are sold separately from the pots and pans.

Ditto on the calphalon. I have a rubber handle that fits on all my skillets and saucepans.
Honestly, I never use it--but know that they do make them!

Hi Gail. I just got two of those rubber gadgets from Calphalon. Got them at Hechts a local store but you will find them where Calphalon is sold. I also have a little material made one (like an oven mitten) but fits snuggly into handle of skillets etc)
They are very nice since handles can get hot at times.
Note: Always keep in mind to remove them before placing skillet in oven (as for frittatas).. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
Wow. Thanks, everybody. As it so happens, the pans I want them for ARE Calphalon, too, so maybe I should check out their web site, hmmm?

Gail -
Didn't anyone ever tell you that pan handling is downright inappropriate?
You should be ashamed of yourself. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif
Can't support my habit as a burn junkie without pan-handling, now can I? http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/cool.gif
By the way-- double thanks to the rest of you. I tried a second cooks store, which carries more volume than W-S. Lo and behold! Calphalon Cool Grips! I am a happy camper. (I also learned that the omelet chef at the hotel probably uses Wearever pans, which come equipped with a grip just like the ones I saw.
