ugh! It's 97 here today and really humid. I hate this! I feel like I'm drowning. Of course, I'm pretty much staying inside in the A/C. How can it go from -20 in the winter to basically 100 in the summer? How are the rest of you fairing?

I don't have a thermometer, but weather channel says it's 70 degrees w/100% humidity. We're finally getting some rain w/ thunder showers here in Southeastern CT. I love the thunder and rain in the evening. Especially on a night my DBF is home to share the wonder of it all. It's romantic to me. Obviously I haven't had a bad experience w/ thunderstorms!

Current temp here, MS Gulf Coast: 81 degrees, 89% humidity.
Tropical Storm Barry is too close for my comfort, not moving much in the Gulf of Mexico, building strength. Humidity and stillness. Blah!

The car said 102!
Dunno.
I've been inside with a headcold all day, but it doesn't seem like we're having any unusual temperature conditions here in the beach cities south of LAX. I'm guessing it was probably somewhere around 80 here, blue skies, ocean breeze...
Sorry you guys are having it rough. Sorry I can't send you a weather CARE package!

It was on the cool side here today: about 78. Humidity doesn't really exist in the arid shrub-steppe (yes, it gets hot (90s) in the summertime here; no, it doesn't rain here; yes, this is Washington State ;) ).
I spent the past 7 years in the Midwest (Ohio, Illinois), so I know what you are suffering through with the wretched heat wave. Just heard on NPR tonight that it is making its way east this coming week. Hang on- soon it will be September, October...this too shall pass.
THinking only cool thoughts for you

We have had the most disgusting weather this year ever and more smog alerts in history. Today is supposed to be 31 which equates to 90's and extremely humid and we have had NO rain for a couple of weeks - in TO that is - and this heat is supposed to keep up through the week. I can't let the dogs our for more that a couple of minutes - how about you Kristi?

Elaine...
My parents took my dog to the lake yesterday, so he can at least swim. But he's coming back tonight. He hates this weather...wants to be inside most of the time (he's solid black which makes it worse).

It's been hovering near 90º and quite humid lately - though we did get a brief break in the humidity, thank goodness. Whenever I start to feel cranky about the heat, I just think of the 3+ years we spent in central TX (you know, 100º during the day and "plummeting" to 80º at night if you were lucky) and then it doesn't seem so bad! I really do hate humidity, though - at least in TX, it was quite a bit drier.

I may get "hit" for this LOL, but our weather doesn't really vary that much here or at least not so as I can tell. Its generally always in the 80's - sometimes lower 80's and sometimes higher 80's. The only thing that makes you notice the heat is if the trade winds go away. If its particularly hot, I just fill up DD's kiddy pool and dip my feet if we can't go to the beach.
It was about 90 here today and veryhumid. Unfortunately, it's supposed to be hot and humid all week, with no rain in the forecast to even cut the humidity a bit. I can't remember a summer like this in recent memory.
This weather makes me so grouchy---I am looking forward to cooler temps in the Fall!

Lanie, if it makes you feel any better, we are having the same weather here in central Nova Scotia - first time I've ever experienced smog!

jazzcat - I wish you'd send some of those thunderstorms my way! I'm on the CT shoreline, and I haven't seen rain in almost 2 weeks. The forecast says maybe Wednesday - keep your fingers crossed.
Other than that, it's been hot (80's to low 90's) and humid here for weeks. Yuk! I shouldn't really complain, though, since I was wishing for this sometime in February while shoveling snow - LOL!

that my puppy is sweating!!!! hee hee hee
It is about 92 deg here in West Michigan, with a humidity level of 79, very near unbearable for most folks. I however love the heat and am getting ready to head to Lake Michigan for a day of swimming and sunbathing. When life gives you lemons . . .

LOL, Alisa!!!
Nope... the chocolate isn't melting! It's carefully refrigerated from the heat! Hey, DH and DD are on their own... but I'm protecting the chocolate at all costs!!! :D

surprisingly, it's only 87º here with 69% humidity. and it's sunny :) our NY relatives won't come visit in the summer, because they say it's too hot - but this week it looks like it's going to be hotter there than it is here! go figure!!

We have been having a fairly mild summer here so far but it is now in the low 80's. September always seems to be our hottest month though. Hang in there everyone!

All right, BlueMoose, why is it hotter and more humid here in MINNESOTA than in most of the rest of the country?? It's so hot I scorched my lip on the edge of the water bottle that I was keeping in the car so I would not get dehydrated.
At least it is supposed to be cooler by Thursday...

I should print off this thread and keep it on hand as a wake-up call when I think about moving back to Texas. :)
After a weekend of cool temperatures (daytime highs of mid 70s, nighttime lows of mid 40s), it's shaping up to be a beautiful week here. The highs are expected to be in the 80s, and the lows are expected to be in the 50s. Sunny, warm, blue skies all around. Humidity? We don't know what that is! ;)

It is sooo hot/humid here. I hate it when you start sticking to your furniture & its not even vinyl!! Our poor dog!! We have an english springer spaniel-he has about 1,000 hairs per square inch of skin. Everytime I think that I'm hot--I remember him, poor guy, and am glad that I'm not stuck wearing a fur coat!!
Yes, I'm dreaming of October.

I think it's supposed to actually hit 78 today! Maybe even 79!! It's breezy and sunny, lots of cotton-candy clouds in the blue sky...
Wish I was outside riding my bike instead of being cooped up in an office! :D

Yesterday we had a heat and smog alert - and the temp went to 36 - and I foolishly went golfing and lasted 14 holes which were about 10 too many - then when putting clubs in my trunk - I whacked myself on the head with my own clubs - ha! Didn't feel too well for the rest of the day, not sure if heat or club whacking.
Today is going higher and a record expected, supposed to go to 36 but with humidity will feel like 44 - yesterday we had 6 minutes of rain - have not had a drop in weeks.
It seems that the weather is bad everywhere, global warming is REAL! :D

This is my 8th summer here in Atlanta. It is the mildest one I have experienced-- I don't think we have hit over 90 degrees more than 7 days this year!! The humidity is terrible but it is not awfully hot. For this, I am thankful every day.
Everyone who is dying from the heat, you have my sympathy!!

Dana, I agree completely!
I thought it might just be my imagination (I do run at 6:00, so I thought that might be it :) ), but I heard on the news that this time last year we'd had over-90 days 40 or so times! And I especially remember waking up to 80-degrees and 95% humidity. I'm loving it this summer -- 72 in the morning feels so COOL!

Finally!
Today is supposed to be the last hot day and then they're predicting temps in the mid 70's for about the next 5 days. What a relief! My 10 month old has heat rash all over his chunky little body :(

Now why do I remember all the 'it was so hot' jokes? (You know: it was so hot, I saw a fire hydrant thanking a dog; so hot I saw a dog chasing a cat and they were both walking, and so on)
It's supposed to break tomorrow afternoon, and not a moment too soon. It's 100 degrees here in Connecticut (huh? I thought New England was supposed to be cool!) and steamy. Last night I took my cat outside on his leash (yes, he walks on a leash) and settled down under a tree in the shade to read my August CL issue (I've been very busy). After about ten minutes I was so damp, I needed a shower.
Ah well, Autumn is coming!
Hope all stay cool and composed!
